You're totally missing the point (once again I might add), it's not about racism , it's about those reasons I explained on the previous post (which you may have found interesting if you spent some time reading it)
...he's not an actor, he's too old (shepard is supposed to be either 29 or 31, not 42...) and blah blah blah...
And about calling me a racist...I lived in Holland, boy and have few friends there too, have you ever been there?
if you don't know what you are talking about don't actually talk about it so you don't put yourself in such embarassing situations...
But still Mark Vanderloo as Shepard in the film? Not going to happen.

Entiendes?

Sorry for the possible mistakes, haven't spoken spanish in a while...

Duuuuuude! Did you at least saw Transformers? ( the movie and Transformers: Revenge of the fallen too). Or Cloverfield? dude wtf?

Even Robert Pattinson is an  actor, model, musician, and producer. (From Twilight Saga, in case you don't know).
so...WTF man?

Look that's not personal, but......one of the guys in cloverfield, the soldier in transformer  (which sucked, in my opinion...) and the other one...ok Pattinson is quite famous but...what is that supposed to prove?
Do you really think they're picking up a 42 year old dutch model to star in a (most likely) huge production like this?
No way that's going to happen...
I'd like to see him in a cameo by the way, that would be nice...
All the fans would like to see the "real one" in action but CGI is the only way they can do it. Otherwise they can just pick up some Hollywood moron with more muscles than talent and film one more piece of **** like most (not all) of those superhero movies...like anyone does nowadays.

The point to me is that ME is already so much of a film itself, even more than a film since you have the same involvement and pace, plus you can actually change the course of it depending on your actions.
So what is the point of making a film out of it?
BW is looking straight at the incomes if you ask me...

Cheers

um... It's not because he is Dutch <_<

It's that he is a focused model. Most actors are models before they become famous actors it's usually part of the path... the problem is it is assumed he can't act. Should he try out and prove to have the ability I doubt anyone would reject him as Shep.

No I don't quite get whats wrong with having some model be the actor for Shepard because this could this guys big break. That and also he does look a lot like Shepard the only thing that I really like is how there is no source for where this information came from. You have no idea how much I want Mass Effect to be a movie its just that I don't see any hard facts at all. And all I keep hearing is that this guy really could be a good actor or he could be fish out of water all I can I can say opinion wise is that this could just be some guy attempting to screw around with peoples dreams just giving them false hope I am very sorry to be saying this but its just I am having a hard time believing all this. I really am wishing that this really is going to be a movie. And no I am not saying that making Mass Effect into a movie isn't a good idea I am just saying that I find it hard to believe thats all. And I am sorry if this aggravates anyone but it is just what I am wondering.

I really hope they don't choose Shepard as the main line. The character is you and only you, having the movie set with him/her as the main character would defeat the purpose of the game. Besides, who wants to see all the lore that you can basically watch/play in the game? I want to see new stuff like the first contact or the rachni wars etc.

If they do not want to see this movie fail then they should do something other than Shepard's storyline.

Also I have seen the argument for a Shepard movie and that is to get more people into the game who don't know about it. Creating a movie that doesn't follow Shepard will not only get people into the game, it will give them more of a reason to buy it. I really hope they don't choose Shepard's storyline or all I can see is just a complete fail. They will not be able to capture the feel any player gets while playing the series and the movie will then feel empty.

Then why writing "42 years old DUTCH model"
why not "42 years old supermodel"
huh?

Look mate, if you know how to speak spanish, or at least write it, i think that's excellent. I'm going to tell you that i have friends from the Philippines , german friends, Northamerican friends, argentinean friends and even arab friends (Not terrorist, of course).
I know what i say and don't come and tell me what makes me look like a fool or what makes me look great. I know what i read and what i see and its obvious that you, northamerican people are really racist and xenophobic. It's a shame, because this destroys a lot of ilusions that i had about you, northamerican guys.

And, for what another guy said, I am not Mark Vanderloo, leave the poor guy alone, dude, I AM the one promoting him as commander shepard, so stop the hate.

I could also see natalie portman playing a decent Jack depending on how well she can do an american accent.  Of course, this is assuming any of those characters are even in the movie.

Natalie Portman is American.  You're probably thinking of Keira Knightley.

Casting such a big actor for a supporting role like that would be a disaster.  There's no way to make everyone happy on a set like that and the budget would be ASTRONOMICAL.  You'd need an ensemble cast of lesser actors like they did for Star Trek.

Posted Imageyou're right I was thinking she did okay enough as a somewhat intimidating character in her role in king arthur and 2nd and 3rd the Pirates of the Caribean movies, but those were both Keira Knightley.  the only movies that I can think of that have her in it are ones where she plays a wimpy damsel in distress that pitifully try to show that they have some power (Star Wars episodes 1-3, V for vendetta).

Natalie portman would suck as Jack, I think the only reason that whoever suggested her before me is that she shaved her head for V for vendetta.  No way she could pull off a deranged psycopathic Biotic chick.  Thanks for that clarification Omega-202.

And why does It have to be a guy anyway? Female shepard > male shepard.

Shepard is promoted as a male in the trailers and everything. No matter how much you like the female version better, it will never be the promoted Shepard. I know there's a LOT of FemShep love around these boards, but even the stats released by BioWare revealed that 80% of the Shepards around were males.

FemShep will never be mainstream. Deal with it. No hate. Just a fact.

I think they might test market it. How many female badd a**es are there in motion pictures that ain't Milla Jovich in a rotten adaptation of a popular video game?

I think that while a female Shepard would be a more dynamic character the reality is they will never do the movie how we played the game. Too many variables. Will he be an infiltrator, a soldier, and adept? Half my Shepards are male, half female and I just started playing them again to set up things for ME3. But with a movie they are going to go for what will put people into the seats and they will have to commit to a certain type of Shepard.

HERE WE GO AGAIN.

I will repeat, for the thousandth time, the First Contact War was not a war.  It was a policing incident with fewer than 2000 casualties, most of which occurred in ship to ship action.

There were no adult Human biotics at the time, there was no "hero" of the engagement, no other alien species were involved but the Turians until they were told to back off, the Alliance and Turian Hierarchy both come out of the incident looking like squabbling children and everyone hung their head in shame.

How many war movies do you know where the "good guys" end up "tying" the enemy and the entire war ends before any real battles?

It would be the WORST possible film for the franchise.  Either BioWare would have to completely betray canon and continuity or the movie would be terrible.

How about Angelina Jolie in the spy-action abomination "Salt"?  There's a reason why the director has already said he won't come back for a sequel, even though the studio had planned to make it a running film franchise (which has also been canned and never spoken of again).

Female action heroes can't carry movies.  They just don't draw audiences and very often they make fight scenes look awkward.

Probably not really a huge franchise, but Kate Beckinsale has done a good job for the Underworld franchise.  Sigourney Weaver did a decent job on the Alien Trilogy until the 4th movie.  Angelina Jolie can carry movies when the writing is at least decent.

There are examples...just not many.  Also, since I'm a guy I would prefer Shepard be male.  I won't deny it.  However, Kate Beckinsale is an nice example in my opinion.  She is a badass and yet sexy as well as graceful.  If Shepard had to be female, then she would be my first choice.

1) I am not northamerican, so again you kid really have no idea of what you are talking about. You freaking don't, kid.
2) You talk about racism and prejudice and then you say that northamerican people are racists. That's racism and prejudice in the first place.
3) No one is bothering "the poor guy" Mr. Vanderloo. We're having what is called a debate, go check in your dictionary. (you're a little obsessed with him by the way).
4) You write "so stop the hate" when you've been the first one to put offensive posts for no reason using bad words.

On top of all that I won't bother to waste my time replying to someone so childish, obsessed and totally unable to have a whatsoever conversation or debate, it's just not worth it, so just write what you want.

What about Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, The Film and The Female Action Goddess...
Also the resident evil series has always the same actress.
But anyway Shepard's always been portrayed and promoted in his male version.

i'm pretty sure that they are waiting to release any more information on it until either A) We are driven crazy or 2) they have cohesive information to give us, or to give the movie information as a whole. We know what the actors are going to look like, so we know roughly the amount of and what kind of candidates we will have; We know that Wrex is (very much mostlikely) to be all CG, and we know that there is a good chance (because bioware doesn't do anything half assed) that they are seriously considering a CG movie. I say that last one because if they did that, they can get their own artists involved, and have a hand in making it all, making it not just a Legendary Pictures presentation, but a Bioware Presentation, and then they can also get their feet in the door when it comes to movies.

Right now, just wait and see!

Alright then, sorry for the prejudice about where are you from.
You just made me mad because you just talk about dutch people like if they were dutch they cant do a thing lol (you think that of chilean, brasilian, northamerican or anyone?)
good, say what you want, call whoever childish and whatever you want dude(i dont know what's your age but you are calling me childish when you dont know a thing of me). but you are not the wisest man on earth, writing things and then saying you didn't write them...you probably dont like the movies i posted back then, but dude, they won millions and millions.

I hope that the movie will supplement the Mass Effect games as oppose to retell them. Such as the books. Shepard is too specific to each player to be one formed character on the big screen. Whether Shepard is Male/Female, Renegade/Paragon, Noble/Racist etc. Like someone else suggested tell us the stories that are in the codex that could be told or expanded upon such as the First Contact War or the Turian Unification Wars etc.
