In playing ME:2, I found myself a lot of the time having more renegade options, and like in Dragon Age where it seems to favor using a rogue, considering you can't even unlock certain chests in the beginning without one, I also fear that the movie itself will also play out with a Renegade Shepard. I don't want to see another Judge Dredd. I want to see more Paragon choices.
Also, on a side note and as a male gamer, let it be said that I would much rather have the lead role cast with a female lead. We already have too many male heroes, we don't need any more. Give the girls someone to look up to that doesn't just use sex appeal to get what they want.

The real question is: who is Shep going to bang in the film?
This is what i believe:
Liara 35%
Ashley 25%
Tali 30%
Samara 10% (this is only because i wanna see her in a porn)
I'd rather see Samara in my bed but even then:
50%: she kills you for some of the 5000 reasons featured in the justicar code
50%: She shag the hell out of you until you end up in coma...
The lady's experienced and can deliver hours of intensive biotic love...<3<3<3...

Shepard- Will Smith
Think about it before you disagree, there are thousands of Shepards out there. If Legendary Pictures is interpreting this as their view of Shepard, then why not go out and get a big name actor who got millions of people to go see a movie where over half of it was just him and a dog. (I am legend)

Well, he's of course a lot different from the original but you know what? He's the right kind of actor, now that I think about, he's a great action and drama actor and he would be perfect with the suit, I mean better a black good actor than a bad white one in the end.
To have the same level of intensity he showed us in IAL in the ME film wouldn't be bad at all.
But most likely it's not going to happen.
The best is still Tom Hardy to me.

Movies, however, are very linear. That being said, I would be disappointed if the movie was about Commander Shepard altogether, not to say he won't be in it, but I feel it may be better to leave him out of it for the majority, or simply reference some of his actions. Let him debut here and there, but let his glory shine through the game. Or, another possiblility would be (like many have suggested) the first contact war or some kind of story taking place before the events we already know happen in the game. This could lead to some crazy stuff on screen that could potentially blow poeple's minds away and leaving room for future films that continue the story leading up to the events of the first ME Game. Take into consideration mankinds role in the universe, the galactic council, the origins of some of the party characters and non-party characters, the aliens, the technology, the history, the planets, etc. etc. etc.
Plus big name actors lead to big time budget payments for their time, energy and effort that in a practical sense would not be good for this kind of movie. Not only that, but no one would be able to afford it's completion if you had that kind of list where all you see are big name actors. If you think about it, a $10 million contract per actor means $100 million for 10 actors, not to mention equipment, computers, lighting tech, and the crew that use them and their time, energy, and effort that goes into creating miraculous films we all love and enjoy. Perhaps a couple to give it market appeal, but not too many.
If ME is to become a movie, I'm certainly hopeful that it will be quite remarkable to see, and practical for all involved in it's creation. But if it came down to it a worse case scenerio is we have a completely cgi movie with nothing but voice overs from big name actors.

I don't really have a problem with this, but I'm still of the mind that whomever plays Shepard needs to be in the 27-32 age bracket. Will Smith, Matthew Fox, etc are over 40. Lets start looking at the Chirs Pine's, the Garret Hedlunds, etc.

I see your point. But Chris Pine probably won't be Shepard (Star Trek), and I don't really recognize the name of Garret Hedlunds. I was just making the point that there can be an actor (or actress) to play Shepard that doesn't fit the default look.

Umm, why would Shepard be in it?
Well thats because Legendary Pictures bought the IP "Mass Effect", no other reason to do that unless they intend to have the character Commander Shepard in the movie. Thats the most obvious reason imo.

And you think professionals couldn't find a bad ass chick to play the role of a proper hero? Clearly you're pretty ignorant.
