I doubt its animated, although if you go to the right animation studio you can get some really high quality and life-like animation.  They were up front about the anime-styleized Dragon Age movie, so if they have not stated which this will be, I would suspect live action myself.

As for comments on its story, I would bet its won't follow Shepard at all, it MAY follow the same time line but I would guess a different person doing their own thing in the same time line.  That or something before or after the Reapers.

Honestly, I want it to be a fan service. If the whole thing was CGI and used voice actors, I wouldn't complain. Though it is far more likely they will try and make it appealing for the average movie goer. Making it a live action movie is playing with fire in my opinion. Unless they had serious budgeting and really good actors, then I doubt it could come anywhere close to our expectations or the standard we all hope for.

Still though...it seems likely that they will try and find a good middle ground when it comes to that. I imagine that humans will be live action, but I assume you would need CGI for Turians...there's no getting around it. I guess the only question is, Should they go all the way?

Please make the movie about the Mass Effect 1 storyline, I think it is perfect for a Mass Effect movie, the plot is good for newcomers and fans as well.

About animation, cinematic trailer was pretty realistic and when you mix it with real footage so that u get avatar a like film with greater story and world... I would say this movie has everything u need to make bigger movie or movie series than any star wars or lord of the ring ever was!

I completely agree with this the cinematic trailer looked really good.  Combined with the voices from the mass effect series I could definitely see this become a really good movie or even a series just because its so big.

Hey, just checking in. Don't normally come to this post but just wondering has there been any news on the film? I haven't heard anything since the announcement but is there anything showing the project is still alive?



Also: CGI with the real voice actors would be awesome!

I dont get it.....Why make a movie about a game that is in itself cinematic? You already got action and acting and great special effects and the bonus is you get to choose how it goes......Would a movie be as good as that? Certain games dont need a movie.

Seeing as legendary pictures have created such great movies as Chris presley mentioned they have a good chance of making the movie instead of it getting sacked like other planed video game movies. I would not be too optimistic until more evidence suggests how well they are doing on the movie when they work on it.

I feel the same way...I mean It'd be cool to see the movie, but it seems rather unecessary since ME is a movie already.

This is very exciting news, i do hope they follow up shepards story.

Also personally i think Sam Worthington would be a great candidate to play as male shepard

But i realy want to see how will they create a movie, i heard Casey Hudson will be producer too. So chances to screw up this film are pretty low. God please i dont wrong abaut that!

I have to ask, why are so many people hoping for Matthew Fox as Shepard? Is it because he played a character named Shep(h)ard? If that's the criteria, he's got nothing on Joe Flanigan who played a John Shep(p)ard on Stargarte Atlantis.



Yes, Fox had the haircut but I don't see the required physicality to be the savior of the galaxy. Besides, Fox will be closing in on 50 by the time a ME movie is made.



Better choices would be Sam Worthington, Alex O'Laughlin (Hawaii Five-0 remake), I think someone already mentioned Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell from Prison Break as possibilties, maybe Chris Evans, heck even Channing freakin' Tatum would be better than Matthew Fox. And Tatum sucks horribly.



Honestly, Matthew Fox should be in the bottom tier of potential Shepards, he's probably somewhere below Zac Efron, maybe on par with Vince Vaughn and above Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.
