Personally though, I'd pick Ben Browder (Farscape, Stargate: SG1) for the role because he has the acting range, the voice, and the sci-fi audience already in place.

As long Flanigan gets to play a Shepard that's as sarcastic as his Stargate: Atlantis character, then I'd be okay with that pick.

I hope they create the film with the same kick-ass CGI graphics as the release trailers!
They would be able to do so much more with that system, and a live action Mass Effect wouldn't feel right!

Ok how would they decide if Shepard is male or female
and whatever gender they pick shouldnt they get Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale to do it.

If the character's name were Col. Mitchell sure but it is Commander Sheppard so Joe Flanigan it is:P. Seriously though, Ben Browder definitly needs more work, I don't care where or how. He just does. IMHO he made the last two seasons of SG-1 worth watching. Not to mention the TV movies.

Besides Matthew Fox and Henry Cavill, who here also thinks that Wentworth Miller could play as Commander Shepard?

Eh. I think the entire thing is a horrible idea. How do you condense a nonlinear 30+ hour experience into a two hour linear one? I mean sure, Mass Effect has the basic storyline but without all the side missions and extras, you're not really doing it any justice.
But who knows? Maybe that's just me.
