Hopefully you guys can push for Christopher Nolan or maybe Zack Snyder to direct.... to my mind they seem ideal, though Tony Scott would be nice! That said I have a few reservations about a mass effect film, I seem to remember an interview where some devs were talking about the sum of influences and nods in a game that would get loft in translation... hope u guys can get the me universe writers on the script

Personally, I think Christopher Nolan sounds like a wise choice. Tony Scott is a good director, with a very distinct directing style, but Sci-Fi really doesn't seem to fit him; his closest film to which would have to be Deja Vu and, even then, the relation is only peripheral. Zack Snyder did a fine job with Watchmen, and with 300, but I doubt that's a very good example of the kind of movie that Mass Effect fans would like to see their beloved franchise be reduced to. Mind you, I say "reduced to" will all due respect to Watchmen, as I did like it.
Personally, I wouldn't want to see the Mass Effect movie with over-stylized action and fight sequences, and I can't imagine too many other people feeling differently.
Edited to add:
It just occurred to me that this could be why EA (or BioWare) booted Jack Wall from composing the soundtrack for Mass Effect 3: they wanted to give Clint Mansell an opportunity to get his feet wet, so he would be better prepared to compose the music for the Mass Effect movie.
*sigh*
Shameful. Just shameful. I guess it just goes to show the amount of faith they have in a team of five composers (Jack Wall, Sam Hulick, David Kates, Jimmy Hinson, Brian DiDomenico), as opposed to one (Clint Mansell).
Given the current trend of "console-to-film ports," it's doubtful that the Mass Effect movie will even be good enough to have justified tossing Wall of Sound.
And if the movie does tank...well...it would only go to show that recruiting a semi-big-name to compose the score wasn't enough to save it. In which case, I'd call it poetic justice.
