Jason Statham is the best actor for this. IMO.

If he can manage to speak without the British accent, and still do a respectable job acting...yeah...I suppose he wouldn't be too bad.

Of course, someone with a voice that's actually similar to Mak Meer's would be nice.

I'm gonna throw out 2 possible names for Shep. Both from Spartacus: Blood and Sand.

Manu Bennett- Crixus

Peter Meusah- Doctore

Cast Mark Meer for Shepard and use the classic default Shepard as overlay for another actor that does the animations!

Or just use Mark Meer's voice as a dub..

See the thing is, if you play male Shep no matter what he looks like he still sounds like Shep, so no matter what Meer looks like he is still Shep, just get him to the gym

they could just use an actor and voice over Meer's voice. they've done this before in several movies.

I would like to see this in the hands of Neil Blomkamp (District 9).

Not hating the idea of a female Shepard although that´s never going to happen.

The entire story of mass effect is too complex to put into one movie, not to speak of " the ultimate choices" that varies from each player. A female Shepard is out of the question as the entire marketing of the ME series goes with Mr. Shepard. But there is something in all this that opens up for making a movie: The backstory, the races, the Mass Effect Universe... these things opens up for a completely Unique Mass Effect Movie, not based on the main story of the game. In fact there are so many stories to tell that their opportunities are endless.

If they have to use main characters from the game, I hope Seth Green will get to keep his part as Joker, he has done an excellent job so far. As for the others, I'm sure Legendary Pictures will pick out the right crew for it, they got an eye for talent there.

It's one thing to announce plans for a movie, it's another to come up with $200,000,000 or so to make it to say nothing of finding the right people to do the movie instead of the usual hackmeisters.

they need top quality actors (oscars nominated or at least very good ) and not actors like " jason statham" the one who said that no offence but u must be really dumb or want this movie to suck .jason is a poor actor making Bmovies wich are craps.and if we see the list of casting with these kind of actors u can expect this movie to suck badly.

Indeed, it should ideally be a series, movies sometimes even fuse two characters due to time constraints and so on, and they really need a good director like Blomkamp (who had previously signed on for a Halo film), as Mersey suggested.

Agreed. They should go with a character actor, not some matinee leading man, the same for the rest of the cast.

I'm so happy I could cry, and I most likely will if it's not fan sensitive. If it is fan sensitive, I want the pro-moe Poster,I would pay for the DVD.

I really like the idea of the movie, though I'm not sure if they would be able to even get close to any individuals choice as this game is based on choice. Even though I would like to see a good actor play this, I wouldn't want to see people like (someone said Jason Statham), because its wouldn't put the picture of Shepard to me. I personally wouldn't mind if Mark Meer would do it as long as he can do some actual acting.

Though the idea of a series would take awhile and cost the producers quite a bit. Though I say go for it, just make sure they get some damn good actors that can produce the picture of Shepard and Mass Effect to me.

I hope they get Seth Green to play Joker and Keith David to play Anderson. And of course, Martin Sheen for Illusive Man. All three (esp. Illusive Man, who was specifically designed to look like Sheen) look close enough to their voice actors to be awesome.

im telling you if bioware can create a film  with the cutscenes we get in the games  i think it can be epic seeing as they can create a whole new story and not introduce shepard. imo id love to see a cinematic full lengh film ( like the game) based on humanitys discovery of prothean ruins and tech on mars and advancing into a universal society

I laugh at anyone and everyone who thinks or wants a FemShep in the movie, seriously don't kid yourself. There is no way that is going to happen.

As for the actual movie, I'm skeptical. It's a movie based on a video game, so strike 3 right there. Second, there's too much content in the game to condense into a 2-3 hour experience, and that's without nonessential things like sidequests and the like.

I'll definitely be seeing the movie, but I won't be going into it with high hopes and expecting an amazing film like so many of the people here. This movie is going to have to earn the right to be called good, I hope other people are skeptical as well.

3 bioware guys as executive directors, hard to see how they will screw it up

The series is based around a default character, tho in-game you can personalise it. I strongly expect the movie("s?" hopeful) will be based around that default character.

And I agree with tazzmission in that I would love to see a prequel where humans discover the prothean tech. Could also do one on the First Contact Wars. There is just so much in the Mass Effect Universe that is begging for a movie to be made on it. One can't help but wonder how they will fit each into a single movie! Might even have to so a series of movies, as with Lord of the Rings
