I hope it's about the First Contact Wars. Writers like to tweak the story and add their own artistic interpretation to the film, and if they make unpopular changes to the in game story it would seriously ****** off the fans of the game. Can you imagine if the writers decided to have Joker perform Kung Fu on a Geth? I think my head would explode. Be careful what you wish for. Personally I would rather the writers were given basic parameters to work within but otherwise had a blank canvas to work with with regards to story and characters.

True. But after the inevitable success which will likely be ME3, and when studio execs start thinking in terms of "trilogies" I believe it will be greenlit. I just hope it's more Danny Boyle's Sunshine and less Brian DePalma's Mission to Mars (shudders). Sunshine was so good even the less talented cast members were spot on.

Mass effect as movie things should be like that:

when commader shepard is born they hit the tv series that woulb be epic cause you have everyting wroten allready story and stuff like that. (By the way it's just my opininon that would be so epic) .

Make no mistake, as awesome as Mass Effect is, the movie can most certainly fail...but that would depend on how you define "fail," in regards to a movie's success.

Personnally, I really can't say whether or not a movie fails based on its net profit, as there have even been a few movies that went in the hole that I happen to like, and some that didn't even break $25 million (gross) domestic (but didn't necessarily go in the hole) that I happen to like.

Of course, none of these movies are, by any means, epic (The Postman is borderline, IMO), but I still like them alright.

Still, the easiest way to quantify a movie's quality, especially long before it's released, is monetarily.

Either that, or by comparing it to another movie.

With that being said, short of your firsthand judgement, what would mean "failure" for the Mass Effect movie, and would mean "success?"

Given the current trend of video game adaptations, I think at least $50 million gross domestic could be considered successful. Of course, that's not to say than anything below $50 million would be considered a failure. I guess it's just easier to define success than failure.

If they are making a Mass effect it should be like the the books(Main Character should not be Shepard, but someone else who affected in Shepard timeline. If Hollywood put a shepard character on screen It will go horribly wrong, look at all the movies this past decade most of them suck, especially video game adaptations. If an ME movie comes out they should make their own character related to the ME universe and how the reapers affect him.

They should either make it about Shepard, or remove themselves from the whole reaper plot. Before or after Shepard doesn't matter to me beyond that.

Agreed, though personally I think it's smarter to keep Shepard out of it because that would require a canon Shepard. (Probably Sheploo.) And the whole point of the game was to be immersive to the person playing, so people will probably be upset when they see said Sheploo on screen instead of their own Shepard.

I'd be pretty pissed off if they focused the movie on Shepard and did the Sheploo thing because I've grown so used to female Shepard. So not having it about Shepard would be a wise decision.

Maybe they could do a movie about TIM and have Charlie Sheen play his younger self and have his dad Martin play himself when he's older.

Whatever they do it'd be pretty awesome to see some animated ME aliens on a huge screen.

Well, just read through the first couple of comments. of corse, there are plenty of them for now. Everyone has an own story front of the computer. So, it would be a wise choice for the story writers to put the whole thing into an alternate reality to prevent controversy between the players universe and the "default" storyline. (I mean "default" is the ideal character of Shepard.)

It would be a great story to have two different parallel universe once with a male and another one with a female Shepard in it. And by the end their stories come to a same end. They should fought together against the "big enemy" keep on dreamin... to many possibilities out there. And hopefully, they are not going to throw us a Hitman like crap... Cheers

Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening... Mass Effect 1 & 2 and now Mass Effect Movie... followed by Mass Effect 3. This could well be the best days in BioWare's history. I couldn't possibly request anything else from BioWare they seem to have fulfilled my requirements of a games company! All they have to do is actually keep those games epic and the movie epic and thats it.
