Firstly...Mass Effect is nearly a movie in its own right; the most cinematic trilogy of games ever in my opinion.

Secondly, as much as I want there to be a Femshep in this movie, I highly doubt that Femshep would make it into the movie unless Bioware decided to pull a 180 on their marketing...

Thirdly, if the CG from the Mass Effect 3 game trailer is any indication, they should just make it all CG instead of live action.

Good idea. CG gives much more flexibility.

I see it the same way. If the movie would be about the games itself, they really have to use the visuals and voices people know from the games. That is only possible with CGI.
On the other hand, if the movie is about a different story in the ME universe (say one of the books or something completely new), there is on reason why they should not use real life actors. The whole thing would have to be CGI aided in large parts anyway, I'd imagine.

BYW: It has been so long since there were an news on this that I actually start to doubt if they are still omitted. When the first announcement was made, I thought they'd have a schedule to release the movie close the the release of ME3 in order to maximize media focus on the franchise and thus help the sale of both the game and box office sales. But in that case they'd have to be quite far ahead in the production schedule and surely we'd have gotten some small shreds of info one way or the other (at least rumors). Since there is nothing (that I am aware of), I can only assume that either the project is on ice or there is already quite an elaborate plan for the ME franchise beyond the Shepard trilogy, which the movie is part of. I sincerely hope it is the latter.

Just the fact that they are making a Mass Effect movie has me super excited, I'm just wondering will they be making 1 long film encompassing all 3 games or 3 individual films for each game. Also which path will the shepard in the film be taking? Paragon? Renegade? Or the classic mix of both? And will Seth Green be in the film as Joker? seriously it seems only right that he be in it!

Sam Rockwell is a damn good actor but I don't see him as Shepard.. Mainly 'cause of the voice though. Not "marine" enough. But is there any solid info on the movie yet? And yet again I hope it has nothing to do with Shepard, because that'll just ruin my story. Unless Bioware imports my game Shepard into the movie. Seriously though, no Shep in the movie is my vote and hope.

Shepard : Dominic Purcell since i feel like he looks the most like the shepard default for the male version.
Miranda : Yvonne Strahovski
Tali: Adrianna Ambrosio since it is a full body suit like thing, mostly due to her nice curves
Jacob : The Game can never remember his real name
and so on.

I'm not sure that Shepard is going to appear in the movie. They could set the movie in the First Contact War or set it a hundred years after the events of ME3. Personally, I wouldn't want to see the characters from the games in a movie, especially not Shepard. On second thought, Wrex could fit into either of those scenarios and that would be alright.

I agree, wrex is purfect for either of those scenarios and they could have wrex monologue the story or something!;)

The movie will most definitely be an alternate story-line because Bioware is trying to aim it towards people who played the game, and if you played the game you would already know what happened. Also Legendary would be torn between fem/male Shep and paragon/renegade. An alternate story would fix that

Well Star Trek 2009 was pretty successful, they could follow JJ Abrams model.

Legendary is a great company, so it probably won't as long as they stay entirely outside Shepard territory

It will be based on Shepard.

The First Contact War is way too boringand short to base a movie on it.

To be honest? I don't give a **** what choices the Shepard in the movie makes because I'm not so selfish to ruin an entire movie simply because "baww it isn't femshep" or "baww he killed the rachni".

Honestly I hope that it doesn't touch the story of ME2 and just sticks with the critical events of ME1; the biggest mistake that game movies make is that they keep trying to force too much into the 2 hour block and it ends up either not making sense or out right sucking.

I would love to see a ME movie happen, but I just can't figure out how they would make it work given character development, the beacons, etc.  Even if you break it down to the absolute bare essentials you're still packing 10-13 hours of gameplay/story into a 2-2.5 hour block.

Well, I've read just a few pages, so pardon me if I am repeating what someone else said before, but there are a few things to consider about this movie.

It sure aims at the fans of Mass Effect, but it is not only for ME players. That said, I suppose it will be a Shepard-based movie, with a male, caucasian protagonist. I also think that the path will be paragon, with a renegade act here and there.
I really don't know what they would put in the movie, but my opinion is that we're not getting much explanation. Usually they will drop us right into the action in the first 10 minutes and explain later.
I agree with the ones who said that TFCW is a boring subject, but it's just my personal opinion, I don't want to state anything or... Whatever.

Also, I think the game (the first) can be fit into a 2-hours movie. It's 10 to 15 hours of gameplay, but in the movie everything will have to be put to a "realistic" level. So I think none of the crew mates are going to fall in battle and when the enemies are down it will just "wake up" like nothing happened. Their numbers and appearances have to be a little less, and/or they have to be killed in different ways than just being shot one after the other for several minutes.
Also, I think that planetary exploration isn't going to be featured. But the mako may be featured early in the movie for the sake of the history (No "where did this car come from?" thoughts on Ilos). Also, I doubt there will be many of the assignments on the movie, maybe one or another.

Anyway, this is just me being very speculative (sorry for my 'engrish'). Just to sum up:

I think the movie will have everything on the game that advances the storytelling, and as a prizee for fans it may have cameos/jokes and/or lines that everyone loves to hear and see.

I hope I didn't just repeat what others said. And finally, this is just my opinion, there's no need to go spreading around...

I guess you would say a conflict like the Falklands War would also be boring on film. I disagree on both accounts. However, there is nothing that says a Mass Effect movie would be a war movie, or even a CG riddled adventure movie. You could set it on Earth during the events of ME3 and make it a survival movie. Set it in the Citadel and make it a political, who-dunnit mystery, sci-fi extravaganza!

I think you're confusing Adrian Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, both of whom are just Victoria's Secret models.

To do Tali justice (and Mass Effect, for that matter), they need to use at least a B- or C-list actress, not a runway model.

Besides, there's no way in hell Tali is even close to 5' 10", which is the height of either of the previously mentioned models. I'd say she's 5'7", at most.

I agree with you about Dominic Purcell, though. He definitely looks the part, and despite the Austrialian accent, he could easily pull off Shepard's voice, as well.

Yvonne Strahovski is a given, of course.
