I have yet to see a single movie that is based on a video game that is any good, so I'm not holding my breath on it. I hope that when the movie is finally release, it proves me wrong. For now, I'll just look forward to ME3 so I can get both the xbox and the PC version.

Someone mentioned of wanting George Lucas as director. I'd have to disagree. I'm a huge Star wars fan of the original series 4, 5 and 6. Star Wars 1, 2 and 3 were just downright crappy.

I'd love for this to happen, but I agree that it would be kind of redundant to base the script on the game storylines. Everyone's experiences of the game are different (gender, class, morality, love interests, etc), so it would probably be a better move for the movie to explore the history of the ME universe, or maybe the events post-ME3.

And if I don't mind if they get Lucas to produce, as long as he gets zero participation in the creative pre-production process. Please. Leave him outside the door.

I haven't found any updates, nothing confirmed. But I just saw an interesting thread back on Mass Effect page on Imdb... (here)The autor claims that the movie will be based on The First Contact War, not featuring Saren, Reapers and everything else.

I'm not taking it as truth, nor can I confirm or deny because I don't have a imdbpro account, but while this is a good way to make a "test" movie for the audiences (both fans and 'newcomers'), I don't think it would make a very good base for the next plots, assuming they would eventually dive into all the "Reapers and the extinction of organic life" in the next movies.

Another thing I happened to wonder is, did Legendary acquire the rights from the game, the books, the comics or everything, the brand? That wasn't explained, and it could make big differences, the stories do interact, but their content is different and a movie about the book would be completely different than a movie about the game, not only in its events, but creative process, characters, cast etc..

I actually feel that if it were a TV Series, much more could be put into it and it`d last longer. Of course it would cost a lot more, and it could be horrible, there are too many things to balance on this... But one can dream, right?

I will look forward to this movie if this stuff About The First Contact War turns out to be true. I would love to look at this movie as expanded universe stuff, like the books and the comics. That is if it's atleast decent, doesn't have to be amazing.

I still am not very fond of the first contact war, but I'd watch the movie anyway. I still think that a expanded universe would do great as a tv show. But if they're not doing it, there must be a reason.

Also, I'm looking forward to see how they are going to build this advanced but no so distant universe, I can't recall many sci fi movies to put out my opinion, but how would like it to look? All that furniture, everything seems to be made to conform with a standard.

For some reason the only thing I can think of is The Fifth Element, maybe because that blue lady looks like an asari to me, and they have flying cars.

I'm kinda on the fence with this: on the one hand game to film adaptations haven't been very good (I mean we all saw Prince of Persia *cough* straight to DVD) but we all did see the original Batman films towards the end they became camp as hell and an appauling insult to the fans but Legendary pictures did revamp the series and now the Batman series is the best comic book adaptation out there so.... Dunno... If Christopher Nolan directs it could be interesting. the one thing I am worried about is that they will turn it into a generic action film if it is I won't even bother. I think we all know it is Shepard's story, no film company would buy rights to an event in a game which they haven't seen they would rather buy the story they know. Who should play the roles???? Well Seth Green HAS to play Joker that has to be one of Biowares best casting desicions. and I would kind of like Captain Anderson's actor to stay the same, i know the guy's face but I can't remember his name. Shepard hmmmmm??? I kinda want it to be female Shepard just cause I can't think of anyone who could be male Shepard... If it were female Shepard dunno when I played as female shepard she alwas reminded me of Jodie Foster but I dunno if that would be a good call. If you had a female shep she would have to be a REAL BADASS!! Matriarch Benzia??? Maybe Helena Bonham Carter?? Or Judi Dench that would be a sight! Liara T'Soni?? Maybe the girl who played Tamara Drew?? Kaiden Alenko possibly Andrew Garfield??? He can do an American accent as he is Spiderman. dunno very difficult choices... I don't emvy you Mass Effect casting crew

If it is based on the First Contact War that would be AWESOME!! Just think of it liek Black hawk Down only sci-fi you can see Ashley's grandfather it could be really great. I hope it is The First Contact War cause if it is the main story it will be REALLY difficult to pull off and it could damage the franchise.

I always pictured Mathew Fox as Shepard, because of his name in Lost (and the haircut) at first but not only, he'd be perfect as a smart badass like Shepard

This is why I hate April Fool's Day. This could be legit, but it's not. *sigh*
If it were real, meh. What evs. I've never really had an opinion about who should play Shep.
Fox is a fine choice, looks good for the part.

i hope the storyline is written by Drew Karpyshyn. Also I think this movie should not involve Commander Shephard at all. Heck..if anything it should cover how humanity discovered the mass relays and how the first contact war happened. Also, I hope it takes on a more mature tone and realistically portrays the economic, cultural, spiritual and political aspects of first contact and how it changes humanity. Also, I personally think that this movie will be more believable if it is an animated movie instead of live one...but that's my opinion.

I just finished wathcing a few episodes of Battlestar Galactica, so, I wouldn't mind if the movie turns out to be about the First Contact War. They can always make an awesome tv-series about Shepard and Saren (wishful thinking? maybe ). ME is really perfect for it.

And who knows, maybe they'd cast Tahmoh Penikett/Katee Sackhoff as Shepard? (definately wishful thinking)

I'd rather it be about the Games.

More people would want to go see it.

My reason there are more people that go to the movies than play Mass Effect. I would want to see the story of the game if I was them. Not a side, side story about a video game
