Movies suck. I never go see movies anymore. a 2 hour, non-interactive experience is just not an effective medium for good storytelling anymore.
Games have better storylines than movies and I doubt the Mass Effect movie will have a storyline as good as the games'.

IF you insist on doing this, you better make sure that you are ready to pump in the $$$ to make it good. Any shortcuts to make it cheap will get called. A dissappointment wouldnt sit well with the hardcore fans and it would spill over to the general audience. so.. Im looking forward to a good, well written script and good actors! =)

I hope not the same. I like anime in general but a real bigscreen movie is a bit bigger thing.
And I hope none of them will be about Shepard. The universe is big enough to carry many more stories, as the novels and comics already proved.

Its either going to be about ME1 or the the whole series scrunched into one movie (hopefully the former and not the latter). The movie would be directed towards casual players and action and sci fi movie fans.
The anime one is a different story, seeing as its targeted towards the more devoted fanfolk.
As for miranda, if she were in ME1, (which she wasn't) she'd be portrayed by her voice over in the movie. Keep in mind also that a successful character presentation relies more on good acting than appearance.

Hmmm, I may be wrong, but apparently these movies aren't the same. The one announced on this thread is from Legendary, and the anime one is from Funimation, so I think it's two different things. (And Mac Walters isn't responsible for the script in the movie).

So, I know this basically defines what ME is, and in just two lines it could be anything, but it reminds me of... Checked on IMDB. The plot looks like it going to start with humanity finding the Prothean ruins on Mars and leading into a war with the Turians. It's going to take place 50 years before the events of Shepard. Nice thing about that, no one can really complain about why "their" shepard was not the one in the movie. Bad thing is the movie is said to be anime. Just my opinion, but how about a CG movie like Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within. And if it's not asking to much, some oversight from Bioware.

Seriously? An anime?? There was so much potential to capture a wider audience with a live action movie (or just purely CG akin to Avatar quality for that matter).
Edit: Okay, I saw that the anime may be a different movie entirely from the Legendary Pictures one. An anime video on the side to a full feature live action would be okay with me. I just fear for Bioware's product if they pass up the awesome opportunity of a full Hollywood production in place of only an anime one.

I wonder why the person you pick to play Miranda isn't the person she's modeled after.....
Yvonne Strahovski is both the voice actor and character model. In my opinion, it's the perfect choice.
Anyways, a Shepard based movie would be lame, mostly because Shepard is the character from a game where the choices make every person's story unique. I agree with everyone else who thinks that the Mass Effect Universe has plenty of other stories to tell.

Actually, there will be a live-action as well as an anime.
The live action won't feature Shepard, according to IMDB. It will be a story from the First Contact War.
The anime has yet to announce any story details, as it was announced either today, or yesterday, I forget which.
