Games have better storylines than movies and I doubt the Mass Effect movie will have a storyline as good as the games'.

Or are we getting both an anime and a live action.
Anyways imo no ME movie should be about Shep (y'know, because of the whole 'no canon' thing)

And I hope none of them will be about Shepard. The universe is big enough to carry many more stories, as the novels and comics already proved.

Is this movie the same as the 'mass effect anime movie' i've seen people talk about on facebook?

I hope not the same. I like anime in general but a real bigscreen movie is a bit bigger thing.

You mean this?

I'm with you Dingo.
She doesn't have the full-figured body to pull off Miranda.
Sofia Vergara is the first one that comes to mind...
Katie Price?

A movie would be great with real actors, not a damn anime?!
Don't you see the potential in this? Of course its going to be an expensive movie but hype it and advertise it enough and in the end you will have the sucess of Avatar.... (thats theoretical)

The anime one is a different story, seeing as its targeted towards the more devoted fanfolk.
As for miranda, if she were in ME1, (which she wasn't) she'd be portrayed by her voice over in the movie. Keep in mind also that a successful character presentation relies more on good acting than appearance.

"Based on the Mass Effect universe, the anime video will tell the tale of
an epic science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with
dangerous alien life and mysterious, uncharted planets."
So, I know this basically defines what ME is, and in just two lines it could be anything, but it reminds me of... (Book spoilers): Ascension - the Idenna, going out of the flotilla and looking for a new homeworld for the quarians... I am starting to read/listen Retribution, so if anything is said about it, just ignore my comment, if not, I think it would be a good story, and I'd like to see Hindel and Gillian and Lemm and how it was going for them to explore those places through that new relay and everything. (end of spoilers hehe)
Also, even with all the speculation about the movie (live one) and that it would go out close to the release of ME3, I hardly think it would be possible to release it before the first semester of 2012. I am not a very experienced producer, of course, but I know from past experience that something not so huge takes a lot of time to be written as a script, to the actors to be cast, to locations to be found and built... So a movie would take a lot more, even with an enormous crew to work on it.
After that there's filming, editing, polishing it all, and then you can start to think of it as the movie. Before that it's just like the baby reaper on the collector base, it's a giant squeleton being filled.

Edit: Okay, I saw that the anime may be a different movie entirely from the Legendary Pictures one. An anime video on the side to a full feature live action would be okay with me. I just fear for Bioware's product if they pass up the awesome opportunity of a full Hollywood production in place of only an anime one.

Now that there's this anime film being produced what's going to happen with the Mass Effect movie that's being produced?
Will they both be made or the the movie being canned?

I wonder why the person you pick to play Miranda isn't the person she's modeled after.....
Yvonne Strahovski is both the voice actor and character model. In my opinion, it's the perfect choice.
Anyways, a Shepard based movie would be lame, mostly because Shepard is the character from a game where the choices make every person's story unique. I agree with everyone else who thinks that the Mass Effect Universe has plenty of other stories to tell.

Can it be confirmed this will be an Anime, i hope it isn't
Actually, there will be a live-action as well as an anime.
The live action won't feature Shepard, according to IMDB. It will be a story from the First Contact War.
The anime has yet to announce any story details, as it was announced either today, or yesterday, I forget which.

You can... Watch it. Or... Not watch it. BioWare isn't letting anyone down on an optional piece of media.Squadrito wrote...
