For the Mass Effect movie, I don't think anyone here should care if they set it within Shepard's story. This isn't your Shepard - this is one of the countless other Shepards that live in alternate universes. They would be showing one version of the story, and I honestly think it's quite selfish that ANY of you don't want the movie to be not only good, but the first GOOD videogame movie. This goes beyond Mass Effect. Videogames are often disregarded, like animation, for their appeal to younger audiences - the fact that there's a chance to bewilder and entertain older audiences is something that, as a gamer, I support greatly. So what if Shepard isn't a female character? So what if Shepard romances Ashley and leaves Kaidan on Virmire? So what if Shepard lets the Rachni die and lets the Destiny Ascension be rescued? You're all too obsessed with your own personal idea of Shepard that you forget that there are other people with their own version of Shepard as well.

Your so right, agreed!!!

@Bocks
That is actually, though completely at odds with what I believe, a fairly reasonable view on things. *clap, clap, clap* Oh good, it's still working.

tho shepard as bioware see him has no biotics, not in any trailer he uses biotics, he is just a regular man with good shooting/charm skills...

i agree with albafica, matthew seems to look like shepard (male version) then again, bioware uses a male shepard in all their trailers...

A mass effect movie will not mix with the events that the player decides the outcome of, just like the novels, and cartoon series doesn't I believe you actually can hear a Bioware spokesman state this on the bonus disc that comes with Mass Effect 1

for me their are things that sheepard could not do, example kill rachni queen cause wouldn't that make him a villian not the hero the galaxy needs to rally the qalxey to battle the reapers. leaving the council to died would be seen as unwise by sheepard be cause when the reapers the new council might not help humanity. as for who plays them, as for who plays who i would be happy the actors human and asari look like who they play, as for the other aliens the Voices need to be right.

I can't understand why so many of you are comparing the upcoming anime project to Halo Legends. It has nothing to do with what BioWare and Funimation are trying to do. You guys are judging something that doesn't even exist yet. Save the criticisms for after it is released.

Also, what's with all the anime hate? It's a great art style. Especially if it's done right.

Who said that the movie and the animation are the same thing? I assumed that they were two different projects.

From what I've looked at so far I believe you're right in assuming they are two different projects.  The animated movie is interresting but the live action movie kind of scares me.  For every good movie that's been based off a video game I can count like 5 other bad ones. :/

anime is lame, if their not going to do live action it should be CG, they could make it look amazing!!

There were never any good videogame movies.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Resident Evil: Degeneration (and Silent Hill from what I've heard) were done extremely well IMO.

Why is anime lame? You can't make blanket statements like that and expect it to be considered an honest opinion.

The only one that I thought was a good one was Prince of Persia. The RE movies, imo, are just ok. Not good, but still watchable. But I can count like a hundred BAD ones such as Bloodrayne, Hitman, Mario Bros, Far Cry, Street Fighter, etc.

I'm not hating on anime. I have great respect & appreciation for anime as an art form. Also, animation has long since lost its "children" only tag. Pink Floyd/Heavy Metal. And video games in general are not geared to children. Maybe once upon a time, but now...so far..they seem to be geared towards a target market of 25-34 yr. old males. Bioware and ME I think are trying to expand that audience which I appreciate greatly.

So, no, I love anime and animation. Even ones supposedly for kids. I just don't want to see this particular project done in that style.. just my opinion, too.

For future animators..kudos. I wish you the best of luck, and look forward to experiencing your work in the near future.

I bet it's gonna suck ass, but it'll probably earn BioWare more money so they can develop better games in the future, so yay, I guess.

I could see a number of movies being made that were based on the Mass Effect universe. The Codex is full of great movie potential. Not only the First Contact War, but the Rachni Wars and the Morning War as well. They were major events and I for one would love to see them play out.

Did they actually say that the movie will be about Shepard or is that all just speculation? When I read the initial announcement I felt that it would be a movie set in the ME universe, not necessarily Shepard.

In any case, ME is not like Doom or other shooter-based games - the others have no RPG element and hence the 'story' is entirely new to the audiences. With ME however you have an intricate story, so if the movie is about Shep the potential for spoilers is ridiculously high.

As for codex stuff that could be used as basis for a movie, my preference would be first contact war. Although the Geth-Quarian war (is that the morning war?) and Rachni wars are compelling, the first ME movie would have to introduce audiences to the ME universe and I believe the first contact war is most appropriate.

If they really stick with the idea until release, I truly hope that they treat it like a serious, mature movie and not some cheapo' space opera with Schwarzneger-style action that comes and goes each year. It better get at least a nomination for screenwriting, otherwise its wasted potential IMHO.
