Mass Effect Movie announced!

To be fair though I would be interested in seeing what choices the movies make, and does that mean these choices are now canon? I have accepted the fact that any film version of Shepard will be male because society has yet to reach to point where females can be action heroes, and actually be accepted.
It also means that since I can play the story I prefer, I would not pay for the movie. I would wait for it to be on TV.

Remember how totally awesome BattleStar Galactica’s pilot mini-series was?
And I bet they’ll over sex Ashley, Tali and Liara the cheap skates.
At first i thought a movie based on the first contact wars wouldn’t have worked, but now they are talking about ME1, i’m even more apprehensive.
Either way, I’ll be first in line to see it! With my N7 hoodie firmly zipped up!!

1. MINIMAL CGI!!!! That means actually having a make up crew and costumes.Strange concept I know. CGI has been done to death and is only novel to little kids and annoying to the rest.
2. Do an original story. If I were to do this movie I'd focus on the first contact wars. Something that hasn't been shown in the games.
3. Stick to the canon. Resident Evil is a great example of how to butcher a series.
I could probably think of more but these are big to me. I wish I had a part in this project. I would feel better if i was in charge of this movie because i know hollywood is going to butcher it. I may not go see it if its done incorrectly. This has flop potential written all over it and that would be a terrible injustice to this series.

So you want an uninspred movie that looks like it was made in the 70s?CodyMFFC wrote...

The game is still the inspiration. It's a deep enough game that you dont need Shepard to make it good. Shepard's role is in the games but there is more to this games universe than Shepard. The movie could take its cue from the books, which has talked about the first contact wars so it's not like theyre flying blind. As for looking like the 70's. its not the 70's, i didnt say NO CGI. In a movie like this CGI will help but we dont need to see Jar Jar Binks on the screen. This (hopefully) isn't a childs movie. Make up teams have improved over the last 40 years as well. As a matter of fact I've seen cosplayers build amazing costumes from scratch. Look up Tali and Garrus cosplay. If these people had the resources that big movie studios had, they probably could make some rediculously realistic costumes. CGI is a crutch because its cheap and easier than designing a whole wardrobe for tons of characters, but its not tangible and kills the realism in the movies. If i'm going to see a live action movie based on a video game that looks exactly like the video game i got at home, why would i pay money($10-12 a ticket for just me + $5 drinks $5 popcorn) to go see that when i could get the same or more satisfaction from staying home and playing said video game.

If they make a Mass Effect film, it will need to be a full-blood film, not just one that looks like a fan film. Thank **** it's Warner Bros.

I definatly agree. I dont want a fan film. I also dont want a star wars episode 1-3, Avatar hybrid that rips off what ive already seen in the game.Jakedee010v2 wrote...

however, if the ME movie will be like halo legends: 6 mini episodes in the ME universe, it might have some value

I honestly hope that the movie plot has nothing to do with the Shepard trilogy... that would kill the point of having a choice-based storyline, and attempting to recast the existing characters with look and sound alikes would inevitably be disappointing.<br />

That said, the Mass Effect galaxy is a place with a great many stories to tell, so here's hoping that the writers and producers will craft something fresh.
Sadly it based off mass effect 1. Which frankly I own ME1 so why should I pay 10 bucks for a movie based on a game I own?
I played the game I want to. I not looking forward to paying 10 to watch a movie based on someone else actions in their play through. Frankly I get all that stuff on youtube for free.
This will be one movie I plan to boycott. Not because I feel the movie will ruin the trilage for me but because. There has never been a good movie base on a video game. All movie base video are junk. Just like all games base on video game are junk. This is just bioware being greedy. Bad enough they charged us money for DA2. Frankly that was so bad. They should have been paying us to play it.

I agree the movie will suck.
The halo legends idea would be a good idea but your have one big problem. Unlike Maste Chief who is a faceless almost voiceless character.
Commander Shepard is not. You have fans going nerd rage if shepard is not what they have hoped for.
Male Shepard fans will rage if Shepard is female in the show/movie. Same for female Shepard fans if Shepard is a guy.
Paragon Shepard fans will rage is shepard is being evil. Same for renegade Shepard fans for doing good thing.
I could go on and on on a list things people will hate. Even more so sence this is just Mass Effect 1 on the big screen. Yes I understand the movie made for people who has never played the game but still this is more of an insult to players everywhere.

This has been said over and over in this topic, but I'll say it once more: THIS MOVIE IS NOT BEING MADE FOR US.
They are making the movie for people who have never played ME before, therefore it makes sense to start out with ME1 and tell their main story rather than telling some random story from the ME universe and having random movie goers wondering what the hell is going on.
The bare naked truth is this: we (people who have played ME up until this point) are not the majority or the targeted demographic for this film.
10,000 VS 100,000 More will go see the movie just making a point

Still I think the only nod we'd get of Shepard would probably be the opening line from the first Mass Effect and probably at the very end of it... Maybe even after the credits. Just a wild guess so make nothing of it.
Will I see it? Most definitely.
