No, I'm just kidding, but that would be kind of interesting/funny.
Anyway, a movie made off the first game has the potential to be really good, and really bad. I think the biggest complaints will come from the fans of the series, who have played the game (as it should), while the biggest support will come from those who are introduced to the franchise due to the movie. I, personally, am not sure which way I feel. I will probably leave the theater feeling satisfied, but not ecstatic. It will probably be a good movie, but get poor reviews due to the fact that the decisions are pre-decided, and the experience isn't decided by the viewer.
The movie will probably be stronger in combat than the game was, but when it comes to story, the ability to choose in the game will win the day.
As a side note, movies don't have to be just 2 hours. They can technically be longer, but usually aren't because it is difficult to keep the audience interested in the movie for longer. I, personally, want it to be as long as it needs to be, instead of having it be just 2 hours and miss out on the story, or have it be stretched out into 2 movies like Harry Potter did with it's last movie.

to the subect i simply say that i have an open mind, more so than others. its correct in a way that most movies - games or games - movies suck, but i do beleave that theres a (very) good chance that the mass effect movies will do just fine (example: prince of persia, good movie and games). all the spin-offs, grafic novels, and other sujects licenced by bioware have fallowed the storyline to the letter as far as i know, wile making them just as interesting as the games itself. im a huge gamer, and when i can see the simmilarities from a book to a game, i know the people at bioware are doing something right.
same thing with the movies. the lead designers and storytellers will stick close to the producers of the movie as well as make sure the final product is to the letter in everything the mass effect universe is to be, including actor sellection (hugh jackman isn't a bad idea, but i think someone like, but not exactly, jeorge clooney would do well as shepard) and story settings. although i do have my doubts about the story because of its choise driven way, i do think the people at bioware will impress us in some way.

This franchise has so much going for it. Why ruin it? I would prefer a KOTOR movie if one had to be made because it has a set canon. I can only foresee this movie satisfying people who have no deep interest in the universe and infuriating those who have been nothing but dedicated to it.

I say it will be a great movie for people who haven't played the game and for people who agree with all of the decisions made ingame.
Me, personally? I prefer to keep to my video games.

I cannot express the severe stupidity about giving Shepard a character on screen. The fact is, Bioware had so much to work with, yet they cop out and go with this. The first game? Really? What about the first contact war? Why can't we see into the history outside of comics and books?

I agree with everything said here.
Mass Effect has so MANY choices and that's partly why people love it. It doesn't have to be a certain way. Like you said, with KOTOR, things like Revan being male and Exile being female are set. It would just irk me if Male Shep was the default and I would probably get mad at the Virmire survivor choice. It's just ridiculous. They should focus on a KOTOR movie instead...especially since KOTOR 3 will probably never be. It's the least that can be done for KOTOR fans.

We get this excellent lore and backstory to the ME universe only to see it completely ignored, and the franchise cashed in with a movie deprived of choice and the feeling of 'this is my Shepard and story', that made the game special.
If you have to make a movie based on a game, why not make KOTOR(as some pointed out), since it was canonized in the SW universe a while back already.

Now you can lie to yourself and say the "There is no canon" line but there is, just click the default button...

Obviously Shepard will not be in it, and if he was they would probably go by poster canon.

Actually, you are wrong with both your assertions.
1. The movie will be about Shepard. Which is idiotic imo.
2. There is no canon Shepard. Default =/= canon. This has been stated by Bioware many times over.

You you are saying the truth but you know that some people just want it to be perfect. they want the actors to look like the game cover shepard or the characters in the game. well the human ones.B-Ri.hoosier wrote...
Matt Damon?? Matthew Shepard?? Rob Morrow??? (WTF). Sorry, but these suggestions only reaffirm my suspicion that this movie will suck beyond a doubt. What's next, Ryan Reynolds and Sam Worthington? Not to mention it's got that Oscar-worthy screenwriter from Thor attached to the project. For ****'s sake people, the only movie-watchers interested in watching this incoming turd are ONLY MASS EFFECT GAME PLAYERS. No one unfamiliar with the franchise is going to give this a notice whatsoever, at least not the type of notice that will financially support an expensive summer blockbuster. I smell a dud, a bomb, and a ****-splosion all rolled into one. Sorry, it's just my humble opinion (goes back to playing his 200th hour of ME2).

Unfortunately I believe it has already been said that it's going to be a male Shepard and that Seth Green won't be reprising his role as Joker.
Personally, if they were going to have a FemShep, I'd want to see Gina Carano. Watch the trailer for Haywire.

I was ecstatic when it seemed like they were going to base it on the First Contact War, but this.... *gag*. Zero interest. Why would anyone want to watch any Shepard's story other than their own?

You forget they are a lot of Mass Effect game players out there. In fact, Mass Effect 3 has just been voted the most anticipated game of 2012.
So in all fairness... A lot of people are going to watch this movie.
Wither or not it sucks balls. Just to curiousity... Blah, Blah, Blah. That nonsense.
In my open, I'd rather see the first contact war, as someone has earlier suggested. But, at the same time, I couldn't help but, think I'd like to see the beginning of the end for the Qurains.
Some people will be disappointed some people might like it.
Point is... They is a lot of ME game players. ;0

I agree completely I like the thought of there being a movie but not based directly from the game, we already know that story and have our own characters in it, since I only ever play female characters (as a girl I just prefer playing my own gender when I can) I know that the movie will make me feel as if I played the game wrong.
Yet I would be very interested in seeing what as said above the first contact war and humans discovering the mass releys.
