The movie may bring a new "hero" to the mass effect universe, i mean, they have stated that they will continue making games in the mass effect series, just not with shepard in it or atleast not as a direct character in the plot. And honestly, although i love Shepard and the whole gang, a new face couldn't hurt. It could be in the future after sheppard although that might not work well, or well before like the First Contact War. there are many possibilities, and in my opinion they can pick a wrong one for a movie.

Everything I've seen so far indicates that Bio-ware are working very closely on this with Legendary Pictures (as you would expect) and will ensure it's not another game to film flop. If they get it right, the film franchise could conceivably become as big as Star Wars so it's essential it's done well.

343's Halo film Forward Unto Dawn is actually quite good and done on a relatively low budget and was all done and dusted within a year but I'm glad Bioware and Legendary Pictures are taking their time over the ME movie. It is absolutely vital they get this right in every respect, so although it's frustrating waiting for it, I'm certain it will be worth the wait.

Bah, the guys who bombed the other adaptation of Batman, Spider-Man, & X-Men are involved again?! (Man, someone fire these guys from ruining more adaptations already) And on a Mass Effect movie no less?! ... Looks like I've lost all hope... was hoping for something like Sin City director & Frank Miller writer team up or so (they did basically make by far the best adaptation of a comic book by leaps and bounds, after all... before that movie I never though movies could do comic books justice or even come close)... sigh.
Maybe if BioWare gave the team behind all the great Batman & related animated movies (of Batman TAS, Superman TAS, JL fame) to make a Mass Effect movie? That would for sure work.

Heres a thought, just watched lockout: Guy Pearce could be Shepard. Len Wiseman could direct. Total recall remaided me of ME especial the fact that they called the robots synthetics, and they actually look like the ME2 robots.
Just a thought.

I don't think I will be seeing this movie; if it ever finishes. I can only hope it doesn't bomb and the ending is better then ME3. Might be interesting to see how certain events in the first movie and probably forced second fail to make any difference in the third. I can only assume they will push the movie to be a trilogy as the games.
My only assumption for that it that there is too much going on to finish it in one movie. At least to much with out giving it a rushed feeling. I am sure they wouldn't wish to lose more fans and mess it up with a single movie or two. Honestly I am surprised they didn't try and make it into a Television series.

Hopefully Shepard is the protagonist and not some new face.
Am I the only that wants them to make 2 separate movies, one a Renegade female Shepard and the other one a Paragon male Shepard? That would be epic lol

Personally, I hope that Shepard isn't the protagonist. Everyone's Shepard is different, and so everyone's definition of who Shepard is will be different. First of all, Shepard can be a man or a woman. If the Shepard in the movie is male, people who played as a FemShep won't like it, and vice versa. This is just one of many problems.
There are so many things thst could be told through a movie... the first contact war, rachni wars, krogan rebellions, and other historic events from the Mass Effect universe could be told. Also, a characters backstory could be told, or Garrus' archangel days on Omega. Or the reaper invasion told from someone elses point of view. This is just naming a few.

I'm with you on that one. Shepard's story is your story, my store, the guy over the tables story. It's told in the game the way you want it to be told. Bioware have done a good job of using other medias to tell others things that happen in the universe and I'd like them to keep doing it that way.
I do not see the movie futuring a set where the humans yet have appeared though, so anything earlier than the contact war is probably not gonna happen. I've seen some comments about the contact war being to short to actually make a movie out, not sure about that though. I think if you go into depts about things it could be doable tbh. I've seen movies with less story in them.

I might be an anomaly, but I really don't care whether the movie Shepard is just like my game Shepard. Gender, paragonism or renegaditry, and armor color should be determined by good writers in the service of a good story.
I am 100% in favor of putting Shepard--any Shepard--on the big screen, along with Wrex, Tali, Liara, and the rest of the crew.
