Hm, I second the idea of a Mass Effect television series. A Mass Effect movie is a good idea, but the content of Mass Effect is too much to compress into a 90-120 minute movie, look at what happened with Last Airbender when they tried that. With the television series they would probably be able to explore more of the Mass Effect universe. So yeah, nice idea. Also, if the cost of doing this in live action would be too much they could always try doing it in animation style, either 3D or Paragon Lost style.killdozer9211 wrote...
No movie. Take the budget you'd get for a movie trilogy and invest in some good special effects and give us a decent Sci-fi tv show. Mass effect is too big for a movie. TV show could have spin offs, fans could vote or something if we just HAD to recreate the player choice Paragon/Renegade major plot points like who lives or dies, or just have trust in a good writing team. But don't cut out everybody's favorite little part and butcher the series for something that will be in my wal mart's bargain bin 2 years after release. Please. Make something recurring and progressive. Make a tv show.

Seasons 1-3: ME1
4-6: ME2
7-9: ME3
And if you average say 10 episodes per season at 1 hour per episode you have 90 hours to fit things in. that's minimum too. most TV shows follow a format of around 9 eps in the first season then stretch it to 13 for the second then they usually settles somewhere between 15-20 eps per season from there.

They wouldn't have to cover everything in the Mass Effect series, just enough of the important things in the main story line and some of the sidequests. Also, regarding the part of the seasons, I was thinking that they could make each Mass Effect game its own season like:crymzenassassin wrote...

The seasons might be a bit long if it was done this way but it would probably be less complicated that way. Also I am pretty sure there are T.V shows that have pretty long seasons.

There is some "old" news on this from last August. It's mentioned to expect it 2018 or2019

I think it is stuck in development hell and will never see the light of day.
Given the track record of video game movies, that is probably good news for fans.

Mass effect is actually terribly suited for a movie since the game, franchise, and idea is based around CHOICE, remember?

I seriously with all sincerity, dislike this idea. Not only is the ENTIRE game based on choice, who knows which choices the movie will make. It's going to anger some people most definitely... especially if it was a choice that they themselves did not pick. Are they going to make the movie Shepard paragon, renegade, or a mixture? Are they going to save Ashley or Kaidan? (more than likely Ashley just because it's 99% going to be male Shepard with her as LI) Jeez this is really going to anger some people.
I really feel like this is a bad idea...

Paragon or Renegade? ![]()
Jennifer Hale as Renegade, of course! I only wonder if they'll incorporate We'll bang, okay? ![]()

While that is probably true, I'm not sure why this would anger people. If a movie gets made it isn't going to supersede game canon. The movie would basically be like an alternate universe from the games. Think The Walking Dead. The TV series and the comics may have the same basic story and some of the same characters, but they exist in separate universes.

Well, there is that ...
I can't remember any movie, based on a video game, that I actually liked.
On a different note, what I like about a game such as ME, is that I decide how the story progresses, and the combat.

there are certain games that i think could be well suited for movies. tomb raider did okay as a movie. this might be an unpopular opinion, but i think the plot/dialogue heavy assassin's creed could end up being pretty good as a movie. mass effect, on the other hand? not so much. a large reason for ME's popularity is how relatively free the player is to make their own decisions. i guess you could choose the most "popular" choices, but from things as fundamental as "Should Shepard be a man or a woman?" to something more in depth as "What class should Shepard be?" regardless of what decision would be made for the film, it would leave a lot of players out.

I'm... skeptical, on whether this is a good idea. I guess I'm not that interested in paying to watch someone else's Shepard say and do things I disagree with.
I somehow suspect we'll wind up with Male/Spacer/SoleSurvivor/Soldier/Paragon/Liaramancer who saves the Council, destroys the Collector Base, cures the Genophage, sides with the Geth (for teh dramaz because not everything can go right), mopes about Thessia and chooses Synthesis.
