first contact war!!! please!

Agreed, I was hoping for a movie on the first contact war a long time ago.  It would be the best way to bring people unfamiliar with Mass Effect into the universe, and would give long time fans some extra intriguing backstory as well.

Honestly, they can't plausibly do it with Shepard in the story at all.  The whole point of the games is that no one plays through it the same way, it revolves around your own choices.  They can't canonize a single Shepard and his/her choices, because it would ruin nearly everyone else's experience who didn't play it that way.

If you have read the books, specifically Ascension (this is the only one Shepard is even mentioned in), they still keep it from being canonized, only stating that "an image of Shepard is shown...the commander..." rather than he/she, etc.

Humanity's colonization of mars > discovery of prothean ruins > mass relay > contact = awesome plot.

Megan Fox as Jack. The neurosis, the tantrums - she's the perfect Jack. Her career's tanking, she's be dirt cheap. Looking at her career trajectory I wouldn't discount budget skin flicks for crack down the road without some kind of intervention.

Let's not scrape the bottom of the barrel until we've at least scraped the sides.

Ha. True.

I'm not overly keen on the idea of the movie. Why? Most likely there will be Shepard. Male Shepard and no, I don't wanna see male Shepard. I'm sick and tired of getting male Shepard everywhere you look. Having ANY Shepard, male or female would mean choices being made, choices Paragon, Renegate, whatever, there'll always be someone dissatisfied and disappointed. There's so much more to the ME universe than Shepard and the crew - books, history background - for pity's sake use it, safest bet to make majority of people happy.

Agreed. I'd like to see something that supports the games (just like the current books/comics do) rather than canonising a story of which I thought the whole point was that the player makes the canon.
This could nicely flesh out the galaxy more, while maintaining the personal nature of the games' story.

On the other hand if it is based on the games it will probably be more iconic, but unfortunately will have a canon Shepard overwriting all the possible variations in the games. Downside to this is it will only please a small fraction of the fans (not counting the vast number of people who will go to see the movie for what it is). For instance, a stereotypical white paragade male Shepard would be bland for me.
It could be accepted by treating it as one possible variation of the story and Shepard, rather than the primary version.

Regardless, it is Bioware's baby, and their choice to do with it what they will.
Time will tell whether the franchise maintains itself on a high note, or gets milked to destruction.

I don't see why Sam Worthington still gets work. He's very pretty, but he's not great. I still vote for Matthew Fox as I can see him playing either paragon or renegade roles. He looks the part, and can act. Unlike Sam.

@FutureBoy81: awesome suggestions!

I know I'm in the minority here but I never liked the 'box' Shepard. The marine crew cut, the boxy face... just doesn't seem to have the depth to be believable. Is that who we players see ourselves as?

@Noir201: Interesting... I didn't hear that about inspired by Blade Runner. Comparisons made, yes, but by the press or fans. Deckard was an antihero, Shepard is... well, the regular kind.

*head implodes*

well I always had feeling something like this would happen, just now that it is I'm not sure what to say. I have some freindly advice for bioware "focus on the game first and get it perfect" ME2 wasn't perfect due to the fact it lost a lot of brilliant features such as the squad inventory and the conversations seemed more shallow. Either way I think that if done right this could make one of the greatest films ever if not it's gonna flop and all bioware fans shall weep.

A few questions: will it be the default shepard? Will the films be made in a trilogy and when are they coming out in respect to the games.

Please... don't screw this up... i mean... just be carefull who plays each character.. dunno..

what it would be nice is to do something that isn't in the game or the next one.. like..

First Contact War

Skillian Blitz

Those things would be perfect as we see little of it.

I just hope this turns out well.

You have my attention.
Come on, Bioware. A little epic Hideo Kojima-scale trollery is JUST what this picture needs.

Think: Mass Effect meets Black Dynamite.

Aliens

would be executed through special effects and extras, but voiced by  their
normal voice actors.

And seriously people, stop suggesting they
cast Mark Vanderloo with a Mark Meer voiceover, that would look
idiotic.  I'd take acting ability over looking exactly like the
character any day.

Agree!

From the screenwriter of I am legend......oh well, we'll see how this turns out. I still gota go see prince of persia. Lets see if this ends up as another Doom movie.

ONLY THING i KNOW.....is that Seth GreenBetter be JOker...that is all I am saying, is the only sarcastic funny, wana punch him in the face actor I can think of., If they can't even get him to do that part, then I dont have high hopes....actually Iw ould not have any hopes at all for the movie....specially if I am legend writers have anything to do it.

I mean they pretty much need to get the voice actors to be the real actors,  most of them fit the movie perfectly....unless of course theyw ant to make a good movie and they make it solely computer animated...which is pretyt much the only way to actually protray a viode game right...stuns dont do it.

Excellent choices. But I'll see your Gary Oldman and raise you an F. Murray Abraham for Udina.

I see what your saying thanks i think they would both be good choices, but i would prefer Oldman playing the sneeky villian after his performance in "Lost in space" he was the only salvagable thing in that debacle ....

Make the movie interactive.

Put voting buttons on every seat. At multiple points in the movie have a Paragon/Renegade interrupt that gives people 5 seconds to vote, then the movie's plot takes whichever twist the audience votes for.

Better yet, before each showing, ticket-holders can text their votes to the theater so there's a seamless, unique storyline each showing. Shouldn't be too much extra trouble to film maybe 20 different endings.

Just a thought...

Movies take time to make. They have to come up with ideas, script, storyboard, deal with technical issues and limitations, and all sorts of other stuff. It'll probably be years before this ME movie will be halfway through production.

LOL, It's funny, pretty much all of the comments here are about everyone NOT wanting Shepard in the movie :P. I agree! it would wreck the game because each Shepard is different! Bioware and movie writers please take note!;) lol. AND DEFFO DO ABOUT THE FIRST CONTACT WAR! :D or one of the books! Or a new story maybe with a batarian raid or slavers or sumthin =]
