Please please PLEASE stick with the original story of Mass Effect and don't do any dramatic changes! We're trusting you Bioware exec producers to keep this movie true the epicness of the game. Please don't let us down!

You know they will ...  Hollywood doesn't have a very good track record these days, especially when converting games to films.

If Seth Green doesn't play Joker if it's based on ME1 I will go ballistic. 8'D
Otherwise totally pysched for the movie, and completely dreading the wait.

LOL, It's funny, pretty much all of the comments here are about everyone NOT wanting Shepard in the movie :P. I agree! it would wreck the game because each Shepard is different! Bioware and movie writers please take note!;) lol. AND DEFFO DO ABOUT THE FIRST CONTACT WAR! :D or one of the books! Or a new story maybe with a batarian raid or slavers or sumthin =]

I'm not trying to call you out personally CG50, but I've heard this same sentiment a lot and I heartily disagree:

The movie can not possibly "wreck" the game. It is literally impossible. What's it going to do, get into your computer..and somehow hack into all your game files and make the game terrible? The two are entirely separate entities.

Suppose the movie is terrible; how will that affect how much you enjoy the game? How could it affect it at all? How many brilliant books and games have been put into lackluster cinema? Oodles. I don't like..for example..Harry Potter any less now that I've seen the horror that is Daniel Radcliff's acting. The books are still completely the same books as they were before.

"The movie can not possibly "wreck" the game. It is literally impossible. What's it going to do, get into your computer..and somehow hack into all your game files and make the game terrible?"  ....... it might....  :P yeah i see what you mean. Well i just hope they have a volus assassin :)

I see what your saying thanks i think they would both be good choices, but i would prefer Oldman playing the sneeky villian after his performance in "Lost in space" he was the only salvagable thing in that debacle ....

I just figured Murray because he's more used to playing the ineffectual bureaucrat whose conspiracies seldom amount to any significant menace. Gary Oldman commands much more respect and would feel wasted on a weasel like Udina. Dr. Smith, for instance, became a full-blown boss fight in the aforementioned debacle. But I agree that his presence is amazing and he could play anything.

Commencing tangent: Incidentally, I feel Gary Oldman is the only man living who could bring Revolver Ocelot to the screen faithfully.
Tangent over.

Ah i see, but i just think udina would have a bigger part to play if he were involved in the movie script being that he would be the human element for shepard to deal with besides the reapers and saren, of course this is all hypothetical because we dont even know when the film is going to be set, i also dont think his part would be as clear cut as that, but he would undemime shepard to 'help' humanity at all costs .

Pffft of course it won't wreck the game.

And it specially will never wreck my idea of what Shepard is like and what happens to her in my little world because I won't expose myself to anything Shep related in the mainstream media. :D

I've seen people say: If you don't like it, ignore it. Hmm yes, exactly? lol...

If they make a movie about Commander Shepard, that would kill the entire series. I am sorry if someone already said this, but I do not feel like reading almost 30 pages of comments. People would not be able to enjoy the story if it conflict with their image of the Mass Effect universe. As long as the movie would be well made, something well defined and unambiguous like the First Contact War could be a good story line. It would require less aliens than a story about the humans at a future time would likely. However, that is not to say that people do not want to see aliens. I have felt that the books that have already been written could make great movies. Most fans would agree that they would like to see what Kahlee Sanders looks like, or a younger Captain Anderson.

please bioware, listen to the people. no actual shepard footage. side remarks, if fitting, depending on the timeline chosen, yes, but no actual shepard to see.

i would like a totally new main protagonist, or maybe a spinoff dealing with the backstory of one of the other major characters, like SAREN or maybe a team member like jack for example.

I love how people are looking at caucasian actors to play Udina. Math knows Hollywood needs fewer non-stereotypical roles for non-white actors to warrant such thinking.

Months ago I noticed something on IMDB - at that time we were sure it was about ME3 and were relieved. It probably was about ME3... but now this.
It's not that I don't wish BW the cash to continue making good games... but if this is about Commander Shepard's story... it will be problematic and might even cause a split in the fanbase. Not only do we have the issue over gender but also some of the heavy choices from the games. So we'll end up with a storyline that is mixing and gluing all of ME's diversities into one mush.
Of course I'm aware that you can't make it right for everyone, but using a game that advertises the unique feature of importing your choices from the first into the second game (so you have your unique and personal gaming experience) to create one average version... just seems problematic.

And of course, certain groups will be left behind and run over - hurray. To satisfy the majority, the larger group of haters will win and characters that don't deserve it will be turned into the comical relief, the loyal lapdog or the space amazon... it's just how things tend to go.

Sorry about the wall of text... but I really hope, if this movie should make it, it will be outside of the Shepard story... somewhere in the universe, either in the past or some parallel story. Different faces and voices for the characters... I just can't see it and considering the quality of about 99% of the games turned into movies... I am not sure I want to see the results. Who knows, maybe I'll be surprised but I have my doubts.

If only. I don't know if he would want to do a game adaptation. Old guys dis the vidya.
But now that I really think of it, I don't want to see stroboscoped action sequences in Mass Effect.
And you know he'd do that.

I would have to agree Revelations read like a movie i flew right through that book in no time, i definelty would like them to use this book as source material, and use like a montage similar to 'The Watchmen' to show the discovery of the cache on Mars and the first ME Relay, i can imagine the effect's for the medicine that changes the skin tone  ......

I'm hoping for Jason Statham as Commander Shepard. He can be either alignment.

He could kill Saren by ramming him with a space car, while the film cuts between Saren screaming maw and Statham grim, resolute steely eyes over and over.  That or grow to Godzilla size and rampage through the Citadel.

As long as everything explodes, it will be good.

I could see such awesome drama with that, in a not so far off future. I'd picture something sort of like District 9.. But that's probably a dream that won't happen. There's a lot to the story of Mass Effect it'd be kind of shame to just base it on the game and not go beyond it. Also if they started at the beginning of when humanity discovered their first Prothean artifact and go from there, you could easily make a trilogy without ever touching Shep.

Make new central characters!

Will there be more novels? I really liked the first one, still have to pick up the second.

lol i also wonder if he will use this movie to suggest slight undertone's about the perils of technology, but all jokes aside if they could get him (Because i think hes a fantastic director) they should ...
