I kinda think Shepard SHOULD be in it...I mean, this movie will introduce Mass Effect to tons of people that don't play video games, or don't have a 360 (or decent enough PC) with which they can experience the games. And Shepard is the main character. It'd be weird to see him left out. But like I said, this movie should wait until Mass Effect 3 comes out, that way, assuming Shepard survives THAT one, they can pick up from there.



But I'm not voiding the possibility of exploring the universe more, and introducing new characters...or even following different characters (say Jacob before he was in Cerberus? Merely an example). I like that idea, too. That was just my thought on the matter, make of it what you will.

When I read this on my Facebook Mass Effect 2 group I nearly crapped my pants.
yes I understand with those people who love the game because of its free will and personal interpretation... but isn't that just like making a movie from a book? 

well I think that a Mass Effect Movie would be the coolest thing ever. And just look at Legendary Picture's track record.... they radiate awesome.... so I'm sure it might be one of the coolest movies of all time.
One other thing... if they get a numskull to play man Shepard....I might punch a baby.

It sounds quite promising (the facts about the studio and the Producers) and I don't think it will contain the story about Shepard. Most likely it will be a prequel taking place during the first contact war or something about one charakter featured in one of the games.

that would be soooo full of win! meaning... more movies.. aw yes!

Hell, a poll on what choices to shape the story of the movie would be a grand task I think Bioware and Legendary should think of.  Let the fans of the game unknowingly shape the movie.... just a thought.

Not surprising. The cinematic trailer is a movie trailer and the best trailer I've seen so far. But I do have to wonder about certain things:

1) Since there is no Shepard based canon (Unless I missed something?), what will the script be like? I prefer Fem Shep, as there are already billions of movies with Male Shep like über tough marines.

2) Based on the game itself, the story is amazing. How much power do LP have re: casting, writing & directing? Bioware did well with the game but Hollywood has an awful track record of trying to fix what ain't broken and the results are usually garbage.

3) Given that LP is huge in the biz, we'll probably have big names in the movie. Which can be good AND bad. Go for talent, folks, not fame. Jennifer Hale IS an actress too, *HINT* *HINT*

I'm really thrilled. This could be HUGE for Bioware, the franchise & us fans. Bioware, for the love of the Maker, don't squander this opportunity!!!

Downey as Shepherd... good thought... as for Anderson... the guy who did his voice [Keith David].... could easily fill the part.

but what's the point of having a movie made if producers and writers can't develop their own craft the way they intended? they didn't need outside input for creating the first M E or M E 2.

Well, this will be interesting, to say the least. I'd sit here and argue about how they should do it and what directions they should take, but a) I know next to nothing about making a movie, and everyone is different.



I'm assuming that, if this is somehow an extension on Shepard's role, they'll be using a male Shepard. Which I'm ok with, though I have a feeling there might be some attempted movements against that.

WOW! That is absolutely fantastic news! Especially Legendary Studios... I'm pretty confident that Mass Effect won't get the typical crappy game->movie, half-hearted approach because:



1. Mass Effect is slightly deeper than your typical game

2. Just think about what a phenomenal job Legendary did with The Dark Knight. I wouldn't think they would make such a serious batman movie, then get the rights to ME and think, "Meh....F it....ME fans will watch it anyway....we could make it crap"



I'm not too familiar with the process, how long does it typically take between getting the license purchased and getting a movie out? It's long, right? 5-10 years??

 i think the movie would be good..if the story was not that concentrated to Shepard..let's say we have hero other than Shepard..ahmm..and i'd love to see how the rachni wars really goes..that would be really fantastic 

anyway..i have trust on BioWare and their management that to whatever decision they made..I believe it would came up amazing..

nah I wanted poll for ourselves to see what opinions prevail here. I myself would want to see Wrex and many other chars, but not Shepard. the film has to be prequel in my opinion.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with this. I would prefer if they used the voice actors from the game rather than big names, but I guess they want to make money with this too. Oh well.



I would just suggest doing that anyway, because a good movie might have a better chance than a bad movie. Think about it.
