I think its hilarious everyone is banking on it being based off the original Mass Effect game. Chances are its going to take place sometime after the Trilogy. That means its going to be original with a new cast of characters and a new plot.
I mean its fun to guess who they would cast to play current characters but I'm guessing it will not be about the current trilogy.

Regardless, it is Bioware's baby, and their choice to do with it what they will.
This, a thousand times this. So much goddamn whining about 'oh no my precious fanon is ruined if they use John Shepard!'

I hope it's rated PG-13 to R. I don't want no child movie.

Whining about people whining is about the most useless whine that will ever exist and will never cease to amaze.

Something most people seem to forget is that "we," the fans of the game, do not factor into Bioware's thinking on this front in the slightest. Beyond a few winks and nods, don't expect anything to be designed to appeal to hardcore fans. Movies with large budgets, the kind Mass Effect will most likely be, have to appeal to a large viewer base, not a smallish fan community that will most likely pay to see it anyway.

This is just a general question, so forgive the off-topic nature of it, but...Did I play a different game than everyone else? I see people mention things like "choice" and "My Shepard" as if there were a number of radically different ways to play the game. The games follow the same plot regardless of player choices. Sure, some of the details vary, but it's more or less the same experience for everyone, so I don't get where this is notion that the game present anything more than the illusion of choice comes from.
