Love interest is easy. Love triangle between Ashley, Shep, and Liara, with Liara winning out in the end. If there is a sequel, then Miranda fits in nicely, as Shep's savior versus the now "cold and ruthless" Liara.
Really that easy? Why left Tali out? I thought Tali and Garrus have the most fans among players.
Oh isn't it a choice? Or just illusion?

I believe that if Shepard is involved, his face should not be shown. It would allow the viewers to put themselves into the character. And the voice actor should be kept the same for Shepard and Joker. But, you could just as easily cast the voice actor as Shepard.
He could drink and kiss in helmet then . Great idea. Aready used

I think every actual actor who did a voice in the game should be in the movie. Keith David, Yvonne Strahovski, Seth Green...you get the idea. They should all be in the movie just because who else can play them?
They should do that. I only have one problem - Keith David. He and Captain Anderson may sound alike, but they don't have the same skin tone. Maybe...Laurence Fishburne or something?

Skin tones are an illusion. Keith could do it.

Shepard is who the player wants him or her to be.

Let's be realistic here. Tali is a faceless alien who can't take off here helmet. Imagine the hell on boards like this that would erupt should they put a face on the Quarians that fans disagree with. Tali's romance in the game is fansevice at its most blatent. Miranda makes more sense in every way. Moreover, this is Hollywood. Buxom bombshells trump nerdy girls every day of the week.
I don't know why you mentioned Garrus though, he doesn't really factor in here.
Of course it's not a choice, it's not even the illusion of choice. It is what it is.

Unless of course, the movie involves taking the nerdy girl and making her into a buxom bombshell.
I almost said this myself. You are the Wrex to my Shep duder.

Really... commander?
Probing uranus
anyway, videogames movies are always about anything but the game they come from so I believe it is almost certain that the movie will tell some random story barely on the mass effect universe, trying to appeal to a new audience while giving for a fact fans will see it anyway, and failing big time for both demografics like all those that did the same before them.
Hopefully it will be a good random story, but I expect nothing more than that from this project.

Or it will it be an entirely different concept, but staying true to the ME universe?
As long as its a mass effect movie, the producers better stick to it. I will get pissed off if they abandon it like they have with halo.

the most important part of this movie is going to be the CG work. if the turians and krogan look dated and the asari are just humans with face paint im not going to be a fan. its not the 90's anymore and i hope whoever is making this agrees with that.
a faceless shepard as the main character would be terribly retarded. you cant be serious!
basically i want real actors, real CG, and real biotics. that right there is enough to make an ok if not just a good movie. hopefully itll be great.

Garrus' role is easy to guess. He'd be the loose cannon willing to rough people up to get results. This could be played for laughs, i.e. he's chomping at the bit to maim and torture but he's sort of inept and everyone looks at him and says, "Uh...yeah, sure thing bud," or he could be a serious character who is a counterpart to Wrex. The experienced merc who hits like a hammer, and the ruthless cop who blows peoples head off for looking at him ****eyed. It really writes itself.

get as much of the voice cast as you can who are experienced as actors (Anderson being played by David Keith would be money!, Lance Henriksen as Hackett with screentime!, even have Seth Green as Joker... and most importantly, Yvonne MUST MUST MUST be Miranda in the sequels!!!!!!)
do the story from the games, it is epic enough that you really shouldn't need to change much
get good writers, and have a director who understands the games and story to bring it to the screen

P.S. I will be very P.O.ed if Joker is not played by Seth Green!
