The problem comes from the part where those same people think that they trump the creators on the matter.
There's no harm in taking personal creativity to creepy levels, but there has to be some understanding that the setting in which you're do so with, doesn't belong to you (unless you happen to be the creator).
I don't think anyone has claimed to trump the creators, as you put it. Most people have simply expressed their opinions about the differences between their gameplay experience and the possible movie story (if it depicts the same story as the games). It's really not so much different from a book being turned into a movie - some people will like the outcome and some won't.
BioWare and whoever else has a say in the movie will do what they want - one way or another. However, a thread like this is offering people to voice their opinions and that they have - why one opinion is supposed to be so much better than another, or is more true than another... is beyond me.

I would agree, but let's be honest, the choices here aren't A or B. They aren't Apples or Oranges. They are red apples and green apples. Sure, they look different, but at the end of the day they are both still apples. Again, there is nothing wrong with this, but I take issue with the fact that Bioware touted the choices you make as truly game
changing, and that some fans continue to propogate that nonsense.
I loved Mass Effect 2, it was my game of the year up until last week, but all the "hard choices" Bioware claimed we would have more to do with screwing up during gameplay than to dramatic license.
I'm sorry if you feel as though I'm talking down to people. I don't mean to, so please forgive me.
As I said before, the changes, no matter how small they are, will still alter the experience on some level. Maybe you are someone who doesn't care much about the small things but to some people it's good enough and it adds details to their gameplay.
I personally would have liked to see deeper and more severe choices within the game, just as I would have liked to see more RP in general but I still noticed the slight changes with my different playthroughs.
Who knows, maybe the entire impact will come in ME3 - maybe we'll be surprised about the hard choices... I'd like to see it. Until then however, I have my doubts about a generic Shepard movie...
I apologize for the wall of text again as I apologize for the delay and the possibly little sense... it's very late for me... here's a generic excuse. However I will not continue to fight a losing battle... so you all have a lovely night and an incredible argument - may you find joy in it.
