At the risk of being lynched, what if it's animated and they keep the original voice actors for recurring roles? Does it really need to be live action?

I'd rather see that from a personal perspective to help keep the tie in feel of the game.

I think that it is a bad idea for a Mass Effect movie. You cant tell the whole thing in 2 hour.

i dont think theirs ever been a good video game based film so not getting my hopes up.

have to say i think it would be better if it had its own plot so sheperd can be left to the gamers

@Heat Agni: soooo agreed! That and dem hips. But all women in the future (and men) are pretty much physically perfect. So the voice is pretty great. I also like Morinth for this reason.
@LJScribes: if Viggo Mortensen weren't getting old, this would be win. I would love to see Shepard knife fight a krogan while buck naked.
@ElementEater: yes, but the track record isn't as bad as film-to-games

actually, the game is usually 2 - 3 - 4 hours long, if you forget about Side quests and loyalty missions.

"It was called the greatest discovery of mankind...The civilizations of the galaxy call it" *the astronaut sees something glowing blue and then it says* "...Mass Effect"


seriously that opening crawl is like...that's the hook right there.  they talked about how long it took to get it just right...it's...such a powerful set of words.

That's the least I am worried about. What really disapoints me is the fact that all the choices you make will not mean a thing in the movie.... That said, I don't really see the point of making a movie about Shepard, besides the game is way better than just watching a movie.

I like the idea of it following the first contact war, early in the humans meet universe stage.

Regardless, it won't be out until AFTER Mass Effect 3, so even if it follows the plot of the game, at worst it becomes an alternaitve history of Mass Effect movie, at best it will be a beautiful retelling of the Mass Effect story.
However it pans out, I'm all for anything that expands the Mass Effect experience, because honestly, I can't get enough of it.

The plot of the first game could easily be condensed to around two hours.  Ignore the side missions and cut a few of the main planets.  Change how and where certain characters are introduced.  Streamline scenes to keep things flowing.  Mass Effect isn't really that long, most of the length is artifical, and could be trimmed without losing the plot.

What about people like me who chose the default Shep?  Does that mean "my Shepard" is less valid than other peoples become I decided to use the canonical Shepard?

No it isn't. Still this could be a mixed bag but I'm hopefull. But if they replace Joker I will shoot someone.
