Seth Green has to play Jeff "Joker"!
Anyone got some ideas on who might play a Male Commander Shepard right?

I'd love to see Saren in the movie. As seen in "Revelation"that would kick ass.

Good question. What would kids do on a forum based on an M+ rated game, eh?

I'd love to see Christian Bale play him. And while Scottish brogue may not be canon, if Gerry Butler plays him, it'll be the ultimate badass/renegade version EVER!

Still, most of those previous video game movies have their ties to the original source material almost completely severed. Having 3 Bioware talents serve as executive producers could keep it in line.
I do wonder whether they'll edge Shepard (I think it's safe to say that even if they take liberties with the storyline they'll keep Shepard - heh) towards Paragon or Renegade dialogue

Male Shep actor? I'm not sure. I'd have to think, but I'd like to see Joshua Jackson because he's adorably sexy.

in the "Mass Effect" universe.. with some characters from the game in
the story or part of the story, but iIhope its NOT a film adaptation of
the game itself.
I hope it takes place either before or after
the ME trilogy. I'd rather have an original storyline using the
ME background. and universe than some sort of adaptation from the books or games.
Though the first contact war as a movie would be an epic thing indeed. I want to see Jon Grissom in action!

but what's the point of having a movie made if producers and writers can't develop their own craft the way they intended? they didn't need outside input for creating the first M E or M E 2.HooKnows wrote...

could we make a poll? choices: game-based plot, prequel plot (1st contact war), no movie at all. would be interesting to see the results
Hell, a poll on what choices to shape the story of the movie would be a grand task I think Bioware and Legendary should think of. Let the fans of the game unknowingly shape the movie.... just a thought.
nah I wanted poll for ourselves to see what opinions prevail here. I myself would want to see Wrex and many other chars, but not Shepard. the film has to be prequel in my opinion.
Yeah, I think an artistic direction by committee is a pretty bad idea. Artistic direction by anonymous internet committee would be damn near criminal.
No offense, fellow forum members.

First, I don't think it should be about the games because of how many different paths they could make Shepard go, some people might not like it if he goes paragon and others might not like if he goes renegade.
Second because if they did do the story in the game they would have to cut out a lot. There would be no really good way to cover all of the planets Shepard had to go to before he could go after Saren and fit it into a 3 hour film. The whole game took at least 10 hours and that is if you just did the main quest, of course you could cut out the time for the load screens and unnecessary conversation and fight. But I think it would still be to long.

I just hope that the story will be at least as good as the games. There is a lot of matter to develop. And it is now possible to make credible aliens (Asaris, Krogans, Salarians,...).
Just a question : when ??

I am very pleased this morning to announce that there will be a Mass Effect movie made by the fine folks at Legenday Pictures! I know there has been a lot of speculation amongst our fans ever since Mass Effect 1 came out as to whether or not there would be a movie, who should star in it, who would direct, would there be a Wrex sized bucket of popcorn, etc and I can now reveal that, yes, there will be a movie (popcorn deal is still unconfirmed.
Legendary Pictures, the studio behind great films such as The Dark Knight, Watchmen, The Hangover and 300 have picked up the rights to make Mass Effect. Legendary Pictures will produce with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni along with Avi Arad (who has been behind great films like Iron Man, X-Men and Spider-Man). From BioWare Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuck and Casey Hudson will serve as executive producers.
"At BioWare, we’ve always thought of Mass Effect as having the depth, emotion and plot twists perfectly suited for an adaptation to a motion picture,” said Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series. “With Avi Arad and Legendary attached, we believe that the Mass Effect movie will be an extraordinary entertainment event that realizes our vision for the franchise and thrills fans.”
I am super psyched for this and look forward to seeing the Mass Effect movie take shape.
Is it too early to buy tickets?
Well it seems for once that a video game movie is in capable hands, and with BW at the producing helm i have faith in this, but it doesnt cahnge the fact that i want a wrex sized popcorn and i want my ticket now lol.

As long a Seth Green plays Joker, I'm 100% on board with this.
Mark Meer as Shepard and Seth Green as Joker and the rest of the cast too ... familiar voices would keep the fans in awe and for all I've seen the guy is a great actor... any doubts who should play Miranda? And Tali?

know if to be happy or not. Although I really like the Mass Effect series I'm
not sure about film. Most, if not all game based films are crap unfortunately
but lets hope everything will be fine.
Just one
question/request... Will there be Blasto
a Hannar Spectre ?

Keith David: Captain Anderson
Lance Hendrksson: Admiral Hackett
Yvonne Strahovski: Miranda
Seth Green: Joker
Anything other than those actors filling those roles, well it isn't Mass Effect!
