I think Mass Effect 1's story is easy to turn into a 2-3 hour movie, however Mass Effect 2's story is not. I'm not saying its bad. Its because the large cast of characters and main focus on them will create a movie that goes at an uneven pace with different story threads going all over the place.

i have to agree. there are to many characters in me2 and they only have 1-3hrs to tell a interesting story. me2 works for a game format but not for the bigscreen.

Actually i could DEFINATELY see mass effect 2 being on the big screen....but they'd have to make it gory
and i mean gorier than horror movies gory, lol

Another reason why I dont want them to do it by the game is that they will probably change a few things(like they did in Watchmen) and a lot of the fans wouldnt like it.

Im 51% wanting it to not be about Sheperd and then 49% wanting it to be about Sheperd and I guess its because it has just been announced.

I am both excited for and terrified about this movie. It could either bolster the mass effect franchise or utterly destroy it.

I'm with everyone, this movie should avoid Shepard. But if there has to be a Commander Shepard, it should be Mark Meer. He has the voice and has a few facial features that resemble default Shep. He would just need to bulk up a bit.

Gerard Butler or Sam Worthington for Sheppard (i doubt that they use Femshep but in that case i go for Milla Jovovich).

For Saren, Wrex and Garrus: CGI and the original voices.

Also totally agree. If they go canon ME1 is the best story to use. Just enough characters to be able to manage (ME2 is waaay too many companions with too much backstory drama and... well -- issues... also too many romantic possibilities), and an interesting threat and a few very videogenic plot twists. Won't be new for the fans, but still would be fun to see in big-budget big-screen glory (not getting my hopes up that they'll do something w/o shepard for the movie as I and a lot of people in the thread would also enjoy). Also the terminator at the end was more than a little cheesy. I loved playing ME2 but ME1 story was more epic and had a satisfying conclusion that left ample room for more if the movie was successful == Star Wars anyone?

I'm really excited about this news. I hope it works out awesome but we'll need to wait and see. Adapting the trilogy to the big screen would be the way to go IMO.

I second that with a HECKS NO. If we're looking for d-listers, why not get K-Fed?

Also I was thinking I hope they dont use the slow motion action thing. Ugh I how much I hated seeing it used in Watchmen and really any other movie.

Make the action scenes into something EPIC(Gives you goose bumps)

That slow motion thing was Zack Snyder. He does good action scenes in Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen, but I didn't like 300 because I think he overused that slow motion stuff.

Who to get as Shepherd? There are heaps of possibilities. You need someone in his late 20s maybe early 30s. That's the age range. Young, but not too young. I just hope they toss the fans a bone and give us Seth Green as Seth Green-er, Joker. A lot of the voice actors could be used in the movie as well. I mean Martin Sheen is a damn fine screen actor anyway. TIM could be there as a cameo or they could change things enough to have him play more of a role from the beginning. Who knows, we're just speculating at this stage.

Awesome, as long as it's more along the lines of The Dark Knight/Watchmen and not so much 300... I hated 300.

The Empire GREATLY Endorses this.

Also chances are this will not be involving shepards story, there are far to many variables and just making a poster shepard  story would upset some of us (male vs female, paragon v renegade etc, etc.), I would say something more set in stone like first contact war, the books, or something completely new.

I think anybody who thinks this won't involve an adaptation of the story from the games is fooling themselves.

This is a movie.  Just consider as "based on" the games.

Also, because this is basically going to be new to many people, most who watch it won't care that it upsets the integrity of the game.

Its really hard at this point of early development to cast anyone but I think maybe Christian Bale could play MaleShep.

The only thing I have to say Bioware, I Love what you do with all of your games but since this is the first time one of your games is having an Movie Adaptation. I'm all for it 100% of the way, I'll be there for the midnight showing as well...but please for the love of God...please don't let Uwe Boll direct it.

Hmmm....a daunting task, but doable.  Both ME1 and ME2 had compelling storylines, so I guess the hunt will be on for a team of writers who can write on an epic scale.

As for who plays who...man, where can you start.

Keep Tricia Helfer-but instead of her A.I. avatar being a globe that pulsates, how  about Holo-Tricia(Echoes of Gene Roddenberry's-Andromeda).
For any Krogan[team] character- Michael Clarke Duncan or Michael Dorn
A Salarian would need someone who speaks with an eerie genius sort of voice-Brad Dourif,  Brent Spiner or William Macy maybe
Shepard needs a gruff-ness about him, but also a leader type who inspires-Ben Affleck, Hugh Jackman or Matt Damon
If Williams is to stick around-Jennifer Garner(if you have doubts, watch Alias).
For any Asari [team] character, well that depends: A younger one-Zoe Saldana or Anna Paquin(a person can dream right); for an older [team] character-Gail O'Grady, Marg Helgenberger, Kate Winslet, or Whoopi Goldberg

WHile this smacks of Fantasy Football rituals, if the original voice talent can do the movie- USE THEM!
Don't fix it if it ain't broken.Posted Image

Just a thought. I look forward to more updates.Posted Image

On the home page they ask for suggestions on who should play shepard. It's a safe bet it's of the shepard trilogy and not a spin-off

just please don't ruin the games by picking a canon story for shepard. Make the movies about some story thats not the same as main games. Don't ruin my shepards story by making a canon story because to me my shepard is canon.
