I love most of these choices! Some of them are spot on!
If these casting choices work out...this movie would rock even MORE!

I can't wait, this is going to be epic ^^
I wonder if it's going to be based off Shepard, that seems like it would be really hard considering all the content in the games, but regardless, I'm seeing this!

I know he looks nothing like the "poster" Shepard but he'd be perfect

All the fan works out there of Mass Effect are more or less bastardizations too, in their own ways.

This is the worst news I have ever heard.
Really? Then you must be very lucky to have lived a life with nothing worse than a movie announcement happening to you. I'm a little envious. Although if you're old enough to be playing Mass Effect, then you've undoubtedly lived through many terrible events in recent human history, so I'm a little concerned that you don't consider any of those to have been worse news.
Why? Oh sorry, I'm interrupting. Do go on...Bioware, you should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves for letting this happen.
I absolutely agree.Mass Effect is one of the most excellent stories in gaming out there, and what's even better is how thoroughly you have allowed your playerbase to tailor their personal Shepards and stories in that setting in a way that feels satisfying and real.
What? Why would this be a canon Shepard? MY Shepard is the canon Shepard! I'm a dedicated fan who created my own! What's that? Other fans also created their own Shepards, for their own canon? Those B******S! What a slap in the face.It is an absolute INSULT to your excellent, excellent work on this series to allow it to be bastardized and vomited up by Hollywood with a "canon" Shepard and a slap in the face to all the dedicated fans out there who created their own.
Seriously, as you say all those people out their created their own Shepard. I don't know the sales figures for Mass Effect, but there are thousands upon thousands of Shepards out there, each as valid as the next. One more isn't going to make a difference. The movie could be a story of *a* Shepard. Not yours, not mine, but whoever writes and directs it. Doesn't interfere with our own ONE TINY BIT.
I don't know. I quite liked Silent Hill. But yes, mostly they're rubbish. Doesn't automatically follow that this will be though.Video game movies are always terrible. ALWAYS.
Sometimes people enjoy the film, and decide to check out the games, and say "Hey, this is even better than the movie!" and become new fans. Broadening the fanbase isn't a bad thing. And they do nothing, nothing, but degrade the works they're based on.
I watched the Resident Evil movie, hated the new story. I watched the second RE movie, also thought it was garbage. Didn't bother watching any more after that. But I guess some people like them. I don't, but their existence doesn't stop me from enjoying the story in the games, because they're DIFFERENT TELLINGS OF THE SAME STORY. It's not like the games rely on the story of the movie, or vice versa.
In fact, if they did a movie based on some significant event, and said "Hey, this fits in with everybody's games, it comes 10 years before ME1", or some other such time, and THEN the movie sucked... well, then all of our own Mass Effect games would be stuck with a sucky movie as backstory. Actually, making an alternate telling of ME1 that clearly isn't designed to fit with your game, but is provided as another alternative... that ensures that if it's great, then great. If it sucks, we can all easily ignore it because it isn't part of our own story.
I will not pay one red cent for this film, and have nothing but contempt for the people who thought it was a good idea.
Good for you. I'm not sure they care.

So I guess to be on the safe side, the writers should make a movie about the what happened BEFORE Shep's adventures. To please the fans maybe they could drop in certain easter eggs like a Wrex cameo or something.
Anyway, whatever Bioware's planning, hopefully you can successfully pull it off. Good luck to you guys

Heath Ledger as Shepard!
Whoever said Heath Ledger for Shepard, he's dead, man. Channing Tatum...I realize he's not a good choice. Mark Vanderloo's face was used for the default male shepard, but come on, he's a dutch model. Hugh Jackman would fit in the role if he was 12 years younger. Christian Bale has that rough voice in which I'm not sure he would be able to play that kind of character. Sam Worthington or Karl Urban would be good choices. If neither of those choices, then the producers would have to find an actor that's in their late 20s - early 30s. My problem is if there is an actor that plays shepard who is older than shepard, it's going to be especially hard for the actor because IF they make Mass Effect into a trilogy, time will pass and the main character will look three years older by the time they would possibly make ME 2 and even three more years for ME 3. Shepards 29 in ME1 and 31 in ME 2; no point in having someone l like hugh jackman, who is 41, right?

I hope it is based on the books rather than the game. Making it based on the game would be its ruin because it will force the writers to take a side like for example, they may have to choose between male shep and fem shep. This would alienate a certain group of fans plus this forum would go down when tons of fans whose preference was not favored to scream "Mass Effect movie sucks!!!"

Wow, I never knew how much Anne Wersching looked like FemShep! Kiefer Sutherland is actually a good choice for Garrus, though I think he wouldn't want to be in a supporting role. Plus, Garrus is Jack Bauer wannabe, not Jack Bauer.
Angelina Jolie as Ashley? The pricetag Jolie has for making films is too much for her to be a supporting actress. Plus the roles she plays and the way she carries herself is just oozing confidence and flaunting her looks. Ashley has a hard exterior and soft interior, and doesn't really have that much confidence about her.
Famke Janssen is a great choice, but she's a little too old for the role, even though her body is amazing.
Sarah Clarke for Samara is an okay choice, though I think Kate Walsh would be better suited for the role.
"The Guy Who Played Abe Sapien"? You mean Doug Jones? No, too intellectual.
HHH as Joker? ! I really think that is a joke because they have Seth Green next to him in the picture.
Okay, after the Kanye as Jacob and Worf as Wrex this article has lost all it's seriousness

Besides, there hasnt been a strong and belivable character since Sigourney Weaver...out of reach, low standards these days I say
Well, on 2nd thought maybe Milla Jovovich...nothing else comes to my mind (as a strong/warrior/soldier-like female character that is).

Yeah, I agree. I mean, seriously? Kanye as Jacob? He's a rapper, not an actor. Michael Dorn (Worf) as Wrex? Nice try, be he's already Gatagog Uvenk in ME 2. Angelina Jolie as Ashley? That's too much for a star actress to be a supporting character. Doug Jones as Mordin? Definitely not. As for Garrus...what he said.
Some things I will agree on. Famke Janssen or Liv Tyler might be a good choice for Samara. Seth Green is kind of a given to be in ME.

Mordin was the guy who was Frasier's brother in Frasier. Which I think is decent, actually. He even looks like him in the pic
Clearly some suggestions were good, some were just the writer being silly. Triple H? Look at the picture... It's obvious that HHH, Kanye and Worf were all jokes. There shouldn't even be any doubt that they were joking.
