I'd rather the movie follows Shepards story then something entirely different. A move needs a good and well-thought of plot and cast of character. ME delivers on that.

So what if the movie Shep does things differenlty than the Shep you played? Different continuities, they don't conflict eachother. Why are people so ****y, I will never get.

It is an absolute INSULT to your excellent, excellent work on this series to allow it to be bastardized and vomited up by Hollywood

All the fan works out there of Mass Effect are more or less bastardizations too, in their own ways.

The DIFFERENCE is fan works are not official.  It's just fans telling their own version of the story just like they do when they put their game in the console.

This movie however will be a disgusting abomination.

I love most of these choices! Some of them are spot on!

If these casting choices work out...this movie would rock even MORE!

Wow, I never knew how much Anne Wersching looked like FemShep!

Oh my god, neither did I! :o
If the film is about Shepard, and if it could be femshep, then she has to be considered for the role.

As for those other characters...

Jack - Megan Fox; I can actually see her playing her if she wanted to go bald like Natalie Portman did in that other movie...V for Vendetta? Anyway...

Mordin - Sharlto Copley (District 9) or Wallace Langham (CSI). They're...decent choices. David Hyde Pierce is also a decent choice. But I don't know who else would be good for this kind of role. Thoughts?

Thane Krios - Paul Bettany. He may fit well as a...religious Drell assassin. He's done the same for The Da Vinci Code & Legion.

Illusive Man - Martin Sheen or Bruce Greenwood. Either of these choices are perfect, but I have to go with Martin Sheen. Just because he's voiced Illusive Man for ME 2.

Zaeed - Robin Sachs (respectively). He was the antagonist in Galaxy Quest and voiced Zaeed. He should play the role. I don't see why not.

Jacob - Keith Robinson. He's an actor & R&B singer. Better?

Miranda - Yvonne Strahovski. Pretty much a given there.

Realize; though, these are choices for ME 2. ME 3 hasn't been made yet and i'm trying to think of actors for ME 1.

i hope the movie will be from one of the novels of first contact war, i think its a bad idea to make a film from the game since it is so different from player to player.

if that's the case i will not watch it cause want to remember the story as i experienced in the game

Jesus Christ. I swear that half the people on forums are retards and have no clue as to what they are talking about.  For one, Making the first ME movie about the first contact war would pointless as anything except a prequel. I say this because i'm pretty sure that they're trying to hit a broad audience, most of which wouldn't even know what the first contact war has to do with anything and would be extremely confused as well as alienated. Secondly, the movie probably wouldn't effect ME3 seeing as ME3 is rumored to come out at some point next year AND the fact that the first movie, which would probably be based on ME1, will probably just be moving into production by then. Another thing, making a movie based on the novels would also be pointless at this juncture because like i said about the first contact war, the average movie-goer wouldn't know what the hell is going on or who was who because most people probably haven't read the novels. Also, the novels serve as back story for the series. And to those of you who say it'll be a bad idea putting Shepard in the game, i first pose a couple of questions. Why would they make a movie about a video game series and not put it's main protagonist in it? Why would they not use the script that's already been used for the games? Wouldn't that be the best way to make sure that Legendary doesn't **** it up too much? The problem I have about most people who write on forums in general(although i've seen this especially in the bioware forums) is that most of the people who write on them don't think before they write and make themselves sound like asses. Also, no matter what, you bastards all know you're going to go see it, so you can stop with the charade of "Oh i'm not gonna see it because it's not about the first contact war" and" Oh i'm not gonna go see it if the put shepard in it". waah waah wah. Suck it up and either see it or don't.

Ok, I understand what your getting at and you make a very valid point, but one of the things that make Mass Effect such a popular and loved game is the choice, and the connection you grow with your Shepard and the characters, and to make a game based off Shepard has a high chance of alienating a large proportion of the dedicated fan base.
But your right that making a movie based on the first contact war COULD be lost on anyone who hasn't played the game, and wouldn't necessarily appeal to a broad audience, seeing as the average person might only know of Mass Effect through reputation, or the endless adverting I'm sure the movie will get near release, and on this point, I'm assuming that they (the general public) would most likely want the story to be that of what made the game so popular.
The way I'm seeing it now, the movie is going to have to pick whether to appeal to the dedicated fan base, or the general public. But it is to soon to get emotional over.
So it is a hard position, and I trust Bioware will try there hardest to not corrupt the universe that we have all come to love.
Anyway I'm sure it would still make a very entertaining film, which ever way that decide to go.
Regardless, I'm know that I am going to see it and I'm sure that at least 80% of the people saying that are not, will be too

For crying out loud, NOBODY has said that the movie will be official canon, or negate your game in any way at all. Get a grip. The games will still exist, the lore won't be altered, nothing in the games will be changed at all if they decide to do an adaptation of ME1. If they do a First Contact War, or something, then people could try to argue that the movie is part of the canon backstory. But a different ME1? It's just another variation.

I think the RE movies sucked. But are they canon?  Do they affect the games? No. They're set in a different continuity.
I liked the Silent Hill movie. But is it canon for the games? No. It's set in a different continuity.
I saw the Mortal Kombat movies, and TV series. Are they canon? Who the **** can tell, the plots are all over the place and make no sense anyway. But the games don't rely on events from the film.

A movie adaptation of ME1 would be OBVIOUSLY a different continuity to your own playthrough, and anybody elses. You've already said you won't watch it, so it shouldn't affect you at all anyway.

Honestly, I'm really looking forward to this :D. Yeah I'm a bit nervous about it being as lame as other game to movie releases but I'm sure the team involved will keep as much of the epic games integrity intact, at least I hope they will.

Please, rethink this, since this may well ruin the series and or mass effect universe.

Personally, I'm not sure if I'm excited about this film---while I've loved all things Mass Effect up until this point, I feel like they're robbing me of Mass Effect's very essence...the fact that *I* define the details of the narrative, *I* make the choices, and *I* decide what happens to the galaxy at the end of the day. Games to movies rarely work, and it's for reasons beyond the nearly unimaginable bad luck that the "genre" has had with regards to directors, screenwriters, and studios. At it's heart, it's because you're taking a two way form of entertainment media and converting it into a one way format. This is fundamentally problematic, and it will manifest itself with unique force in this particular case. ME, as a franchise, is perhaps the most interactive experience gaming has ever seen in the realm of single player content...they have a tall order to fill, indeed. If it must happen, DO NOT make the movie about the games and or Shepard, but about the First Contact War

In response to the casting suggestions made by GameInformer:

Both Sam Worthington and Annie Wersching both look like they fit the bill perfectly.  Sam Worthington would have an easy time portraying a badass Shepard.

Kiefer Sutherland playing Garrus?  I don't think so.  While the character traits are vaguely similar and both are serious badasses, Kiefer's voice is nowhere near as cool as Brandon Keener's, whose voice I feel is iconic to the role.  Kiefer's is also too distinctive to tack onto this character.

Yvonne Strahovski as Miranda Lawson.  ABSOLUTELY.  She's awesome in Chuck, even with the occasionally awkward American accent, and already knows how to point a gun.  Coupled with her real accent and preferably the removal of the painted-on costume for something more practical, she would fit this role like a glove.

Ha ha ha.  Like a glove...

Evan Rachel Wood as Liara would work.  In fact, any attractive actress who doesn't have Ali Hillis' voice would work for me :P  JESUS, was her voice annoying...

Angelina Jolie as Ashley Williams - ABSOLUTELY NOT.  In no way, shape, or form should Jolie be involved in this film.  She costs too much, she is too well recognized, and I personally think she sucks ass.  Plus, she's far too old, and I'm one of those crazy people who doesn't think she's hot.  Boobs (and lips) aren't the only things that make a woman attractive.

That Dude Who Played Abe Sapien as Thane - this sounds acceptable.  I'll miss the distinctive voice that Thane had, it was the most badass part about him besides the fact that he was a master assassin, but Abe Sapien is badass as well.

Eric Bana as Kaiden would work well, period.  A solid actor for a side character.

Natalie Portman as Jack - perhaps.  While they look similar, I'm not so confident in Portman's acting abilities.  Star Wars showed me her worst, and the only sort-of good acting by her I've ever seen from her is in V For Vendetta, and even in that her attempt at a British accent was pretty patchy.  The rest of her performance was good overall, though.

Bruce Greenwood as the Illusive Man.  This sounds pretty awesome.  The only problem I have with this is the absence of Martin Sheen's characteristic voice.  I'm used to the Illusive Man talking like Martin, and Greenwood, while a totally awesome and very talented actor with a badass voice, sounds totally different.

HHH as Joker?  Absolutely not.  Only Seth Green can play Joker.  Green has that quirky personality and sense of humor that no one else could possibly duplicate.  And, of course, the voice thing.

Famke Janssen as Tali - meh.  It doesn't really matter here, as Tali would likely have to be a CGI character anyway.  I would miss Liz Sroka's voice, even if it aggravated me at times.

Gerard Butler as Zaeed...hmmm.  This could work.  Fix up his face with some makeup work, and he could do it.  But one of Zaeed's defining characteristics for me is Robin Sachs' extremely distinctive voice; it conveys the pent-up rage and anger of the character perfectly, as well as adding hugely to the badass factor of the character.  But Sachs is a tad too old for the role, so we'd have to make do with Butler, the next best thing.

Sarah Clarke as Samara?  Sure.

Kanye as Jacob?  Give me a friggin break, this has to be a joke.  While I was ROFLing at the picture attached to the suggestion, please be serious.  Audiences would never take that character seriously with Kanye portraying him, period.

Worf as Wrex?  ABSOLUTELY NOT.  Steven Barr is the ONLY person who can voice Wrex; same with Steve Blum as Grunt.  And since Wrex would obviously be a CGI character, they would only need Barr's voice, just like in the game.  I mean, seriously, where else could you find a person with a krogan voice as badass as Barr?  His voice and humor defined the role.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the casting suggestions.  And yes, I do understand that 90% of those characters would probably not appear in the film, but hey, you can always pretend, right?

I agree with you, though I think I would like to see Garrus and maybe Thane as a CDI charater, after all there voices where so perfect in the game, and that way they could really make sure that appear just as they did in the game, I have a bit of trouble imaging anyone in a turian costume :P

Also I really don't think that Angelina Jolie would work as Ashely, I not saying this because I don't like her, I just don't think she would fit Ashely's role, actually if Ashley was real, I could really imagining her making fun of Angelina Jolie lol .

Making it about the first contact war would be the best idea in my opinion since this way it could be a movie that people who haven't played mass effect could still enjoy and it wouldn't ruin the story of shepard.
