Mass Effect Movie announced!

Shepard shouldn't be the star of the movie. This would be the jumping on point for a lot of people, so instead of adapting the VG plotline, it should tell a different story. Like Chris Nolan's Batman, you need to gradually work in the "core" stuff.
So the hero can be either an original character (just like how the novels brought in Kahlee Sanders), a young David Anderson, or a young Zaeed Massani. Let's also forget that there's a character very important to ME lore that I imagine quite a few gamers might not have heard of: Jon Grissom.
The movie can show us Earth, playing on the stuff that the games alluded to. Perhaps it can also show us Jon Grissom's epic first flight, then flash forward to the relay 314 incident. Ashley's grandfather and Saren's brother could appear in some capacity. Getting lifelike turians in an ME movie would be no small feat (remember some of those turian faces in ME1?), so having them mostly appear in helmets, with unmasked faces featured sparingly might be the easiest way to go there.
Sequels could show us the sad plight of the quarians, the hostility between the Systems Alliance and the Batarian Hegemony, and some badass krogan villains.

John Shepard with the default appearance is the Bioware canonical character, and that is the only Shepard that actually matters. I'm sorry to tell you that Bioware could give **** all about the fans when it comes to this sort of thing, so for your own sakes accept it and move on.

Basically the folks who voiced Mass Effect, for those who didn't get that yet. All of them don't look just as they do in the game, but they looks similiar and they really don't have to look just like the game's characters.
Most importantly, their voices are the same and that's important to me.

male, paragon, soldier. SHEPARD.
and you know what, i'm happy with that as long as they make a good movie. it won't win any oscars because these films never do(okay special effects, editing and wardrobe is a possibility.) so all i ask is make a good movie.

There's a lot that can be done in the ME universe. I think as long as we see some familiar faces (Tali, so to speak), we'll be pleased. A movie set in the mass effect universe without any of the characters we've met would lose a lot of appeal. And humans in general don't have much place in the ME universe until Shep shows up, so it might be tricky to even do a movie without him.
As far as sticking to the choices given for ME2's standard Shep. Not sure if that's a good idea, as some of those weren't very popular. People seem to like Wrex, for instance. Part of the reason I can see Bioware having the default Shep as kinda crappy is so people will play the FIRST game all the way through. Besides, if we already knew all the choices he was going to make, it'd take something away from the movie. Gotta have your audience wondering what's coming next, and the people most likely to see it are the fans of the games. It's going to be hard enough to introduce the characters and have non-players recognize them. I mean, how late in the game do you get Liara? They're obviously going to have to make SOME changes for time. And the characters that are still around in ME2 are most likely going to make an early showing. Which means I think we'll have Garrus and Tali pretty quickly. Wrex, if he's just going to die, might get cut entirely. Liara's interesting, but then you need to have time to deal with her mother seperately from Saren.

Pew Pew! Hire Me!
Tali will either be played and voiced by a no name or played by a no name and voiced by a celeb.... You don't hide celebs faces... So i guess you could make her re-breather see through.
I would love a Shep movie, but I would also like a first contact movie. I just know it will be a male Shep movie because it would appeal to a larger audience.

Seth Green-Joker (definitely)
Keith David or Morgan Freeman- Anderson
Dutch model guy Marcus Vanderloo (if he can act & speak fluent english) or Brad Pitt/Christian Bale- male shepard
Chris Pine- Kaiden
Hugo Weaving- Chancelor
All the aliens should have their original voice actors, but same face models should be the same.
And Most Importantly the Geth should act like they do in the video game, please don't mess it up like Lucas did by giving the starwars droids a comedic role.

As a fan, I wish the original voice talent could be used. Even though it is unlikely to have the voice actors for commander shepard play the role, at least have them do something in the movie. Normandy crew members or something. You definately can still use Garrus, Wrex, and Tali since they are either suits or CG.
Using auditory things from the game helps bring the right feel to the movie. Like Silent Hill for example, using the music from the game helped bring back the same feelings experienced while playing the game, and that is why i went to see the movie in the first place.

You're right. It probably can't. At the least the result would be a bloated mess.
Basing it solely on the first game seems far more likely and doable since the game is already a fully encapsulated story.

I hope it is based on the books rather than the game. Making it based on the game would be its ruin because it will force the writers to take a side like for example, they may have to choose between male shep and fem shep. This would alienate a certain group of fans plus this forum would go down when tons of fans whose preference was not favored to scream "Mass Effect movie sucks!!!"
And to whomever thinks like that and would throw a fit, let me tell you this: "YOU SUCK!"
A movie Shepard wouldn't be a game canon shepard. A move is practicly a different continuity.
If anyone would be offended that move Shep does somethig different than tehy would want, then they are morons. You are allowed to paly your version of Shepard, but Shepard is Biowares cahracter for all intents or purposes.
For the love of God, it's jsut a game. there are thousands of Shepards out there. Get a grip pople! Get a life!
