if they allow for a big budget it could be one of the greatest movies ever but if they go low budget like many video game films it could ruin mass effect forever they key will be actors they must have some heavy star power
I am kind of not worried about that because Legendary Pictures has made movies that has cost over $100 million to make (Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Clash of the Titans), and plus they have the backing of both Warner Bros. and EA/Bioware behind it, so we may indeed see a big-budget film.

That will only divide their resourses and hurt both projects.

I really REALLY hope Uwe Boll isn't the director. His movies are just plain awful!
That's a given. He offered to direct the new World of Warcraft movie, but Blizzard just shut the door in his face!

and the war with the turians
And I think that you should have Samuel Jackson as an admiral in the alliance fleet {Hacket would be my choice}

If you are going to do two things at once you prepare for it.
If they prepared correctly it will be fine.

I love most of these choices! Some of them are spot on!
If these casting choices work out...this movie would rock even MORE!
Jesus, what were they smoking when they came up with some of those...
Especially Triple H as Joker. FFS.Thank God I think they were joking with that one.

My biggest worry is that there is no way you can make a movie that is going to be familiar with most fans experiences. If you play Gears of War, or Halo for example, everybody who plays it has the same experience for the most part, the story is identical, and if a movie is made of it, OK, it's easy to have played it and then have moments in that story that people relate to from the games.
Can't do that with Mass Effect, is shepard male, female? How did you handle any of a hundred different decisions? What major characters lived and died in the games for you? That's impossible to make a movie based on those events and keep it true to the game experience for a large portion of the fanbase.
I hope for good things, but I have a lot of doubts about this working out well.

why make everything in movie, as if movie are the ultimate way to tell a good story, it,s not video game and book are. so i think it is pointless. they will need to cut a lot of thing. if ME WAS a movie before a video game, ok.
But still. there are chance that it will be good. IF the do a movie for each game of course, not compressing the 3 in 1
as long as it's not Micheal bay who direct it, we may have a chance to see a good movies.

- Shepard and ME 1-3 as games ONLY
- First Contact War or other non game related event in the film(s)
I mean, the big deal about Mass Effect is that everyone plays the game in a different way, it starts with the gender of Shepard over playing Paragon or Renegade to multiple endings with different characters dieing.
An other possibility would be to show what was going on in the two years between ME1 and ME2. This way you could show the main character (exept for Kaiden, Ashley and so I hate to say even Wrex).
But the most important thing is not to destroy the personal experiences of the players.
So please BioWare, please don't destroy the great tale of Shepard by changing everyones own canon with a movie.

Don't forget they are still working on SW:TOR and another unannounced RPG which makes 4 thigs at once. Judging by their recent games DA and ME2 wich were developed at the same time, Bioware is bad at multi-tasking. Both games were intially buggy as hell (PC ver). ME2 still is buggy as 1.01 patch didn't adress a lot of major problems. The game has benn out for almost half a year, but Bioware still hasn't released 1.02 patch becase the are busy with endless DLCs.
As you see Bioware is really bad at multy-tasking. Making a movie on licenced frachise nowadays is a lot more complicated than making games since a lot more bureaucracy is involed. Besides movie is a new field to them and they lack experience. So they really should focus on one thing or the other or their product will suffer even more.

I honestly hope that the movie plot has nothing to do with the Shepard trilogy... that would kill the point of having a choice-based storyline, and attempting to recast the existing characters with look and sound alikes would inevitably be disappointing.
That said, the Mass Effect galaxy is a place with a great many stories to tell, so here's hoping that the writers and producers will craft something fresh.
Me too. everything you said.

This can actually work, if you look at the Movies Beowolf and Final Fantasy the spirits within they all look somewhat real but its all done by computer graphics. I think it is possible to get the actors faces and make it work if its done all by computer. And again I think the story should take place with how Shepard got to where he is now and show him as a teenager at a point to where he was in the gang, then have scenes and battles he was in while serving the alliance military. Ending to the point to where it shows him standing at the window of the ship at the beggining of the first game, but it still would be cool if they brought in some of the first Mass Effect story into play but not a whole lot seeing that we need some backstory that we have not seen in the game. And again if they have it with live actors, bring in Matthew Fox to play as shepard.Spartas Husky wrote...
I think I said this already. But whoever is making the movie Listen:
MAKE IT ON A COMPUTER.
How many millions of dollars did it take bioware to make the intro of Mass effect 2 couple thousand dollars at most?
How many millions of dollars would it take to make the same intro of Mass Effect 2? with live actors, and a set?....hundreds of thousands of dollars?
From the entertainment value, FROM the true to game value, and from sheer financial point of view....make in on COMPUTER, not with live actors.
