I will watch the movie and buy the DVD regardless if its a *flop*...which I highly doubt consdering it is an epic story... (yes, I'm an addict)
Just 2 questions:
1. I watch 'Reviews on the Run' and 'EP Daily' and was just wondering if the film would be in 3D?
2. Will this film be something similar to 'Star Trek (2009) .... If it is, than it should be a little more gory .... I hope that's not overkill....

Jesus, BioWare, what the heck. ME doesn't need a movie, it already is one for christ's sakes. Cash cows.

Mass Effect unviverse is HUGE...
EVEN if it involved Commander Shepard, no one knows exactly what happened to the past stories of Shepard herself (or himself, but I'd personally like to think Shepard as a female) like either Akuze, Elysium or Torfan...
First contact war can be interesting as well or something entirely made up!

The game had all the right combinations to make it a great game. Let the game be the game. The movie doesn't need to render any part of the game. Let the movie be a move. And hopefully, again with the right combinations, a "great" movie.
Exactly.
The movie of the ME Universe could be great. With Shepard story - not. Shepard story was already told in the game.

And thus the problem with using Shepard. Everyone has their own Shepard. If they portray Shepard as Renegade, the paragons won't like him, if he's portrayed as Paragon, then the Renegades won't like it. If he's male, the femShep's won't be happy.
Essentially there is zero way to please even the majority of players, as their Shepard will never be the one displayed on-screen. The novels get around this by not involving any of the major characters during the timeline of the games. This 'movie' needs to do the same.

A young David Anderson (he was 19 or 20 at the time of FCW) and/or General Williams appearing could serve as an effective "Easter egg" for those familiar the VGs, but bringing in anyone else might be tougher.
Invariably, we'll get some en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic_Book_Guy type spewing some whiny crap along the lines of "setting it 30 years before the game is just a cheap way to sweep my in-game choices under the rug, and there's virtually no immersion." But a 1991 SNL sketch with William Shatner, and a 2009 SNL sketch with Leonard Nimoy, Chris Pine, and Zachary Quinto both come to mind regarding them.

Just because they go a certain direction with Shep doesn't mean it would impact your game, or the Story you created. If you played a certain way, and made your Shep a certain way, then it might be interesting to see someone elses take on Shep. We might see how the people at Bioware play Shep when they play, or see the way the screenwriter played. They can change just enough of the original story to make it great for everyone, even people that played in multiple ways.
look at the new star trek movie... was a good movie, and they kept a very similar storyline as the original, but changed how the characters got to where they eventually ended up. Whats not to say that do something similar here? I think Shep at the very least should have cameo, if not a larger part.

No portrayal of Shepard will be Shepard in the eyes of the audience. Just because *you* might like the idea, doesn't mean it's a good one. Look at the number of people here that get up in arms over the concept of a 'canon' Shepard. In fact, go ahead over to the spoiler section and propose the idea, watch how fast you go down in flames.
There's a reason the novels don't even mention Shepard. They don't want to invalidate the ideal of Shepard that their audience has created. They didn't do it then, and unless they want to ****** off their fans, they won't do it here either.

IF however there will be a shepard.
-Christian Bale
-Tom Cruise (in similar appearance when he was in "Minority Report")
-Jim Caviezel
-NOT Sam Worthington (looks good on screen, not a great actor, American accent needs tweaking)
-NOT Channing Tatum (is not a strong actor)
I'd rather have a strong acting performance over an actor who looks the part any day.

So ME could very well be a next Star Wars IF THE DIRECTOR KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING AND PAYS ATTENTION TO THE ORIGINAL LORE AND RESPECTS IT. This is a must!

Don't let all these "fanboys" get to you and to tell you what to do Bioware, do what you think is best as a team to make sure this movie turns out epic and make sure Legendary Pictures as well as Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Avai Arad do the job right. But all I have to say is get the "canon" Shepard in the movie, wont make sense if hes not in it at some point. I don't care if it shows his past or present, just get him in the movie! I dont understand why some people are like " oh im not going to watch the movie because its not my Shepard." Who cares! This is bioware's choice and story! Its up to the producers (Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Avai Arad) and the executive producers (Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuck and Casey Hudson) to get it right! hook line and sinker, Done! End of Story!
The ME trilogy is Shepard's story. His story ends with ME3. This movie won't be out until at *least* 2013 if they ever even finish it. (Where's the WarCraft, Halo, and BioShock movies that were all in production?) Me3 will be done. Not to mention that if it *does* contain Shepard, it cannot involve the Reapers. Just the chase against Saren would be long enough for a trilogy of movies by itself.
