3. "Don't use Shepard, because it won't be my Shepard"? Get over yourselves. It never was YOUR Shepard, he (yes, HE) belongs to Bioware, not you, and he must be the star of the movie because he is the "face" and star of the game. I don't understand the people who say they could not watch a character that might behave differently than they would have played him - and trust me, I LOVE these games, I get as lost in them, and Shep, as any of you...but I don't get the ownership issues, sorry.

As long a Seth Green plays Joker, I'm 100% on board with this.

The reasons behind NOT involving the Shepherd character goes far beyond selfish desires of players. Some have written it could be done, but should it be done? This movie should not be an exercise for the movie producers to see if they can make a game adaptation, it should be about breathing MORE LIFE into the ME universe. Stories survive on their re-readability and this argument about Shepherd is a red herring. It does not matter if each player's Shepherd is unique or not, this is about expanding the storyline of ME. Therefore, the repetition of the Shepherd story, which is already being told in the games, would be insulting to the fans and stagnate the franchise.

Insulting? Stagnate?
What are you smoking man?
You have a interesting and well-thought out story that's engaging and populated wiht interesting character. Pure gold.
Yet you want for someone to create a completely new story for the movie? That's...rather stupid. And risky.

Jesus, BioWare, what the heck. ME doesn't need a movie, it already is one for christ's sakes. Cash cows.

Please just don’t make the movie for dumbasses. Mass Effect shouldn’t be just another action popcorn flick, this is sacred. Despite being an action-orientated game, you always got the feeling that something deeper was going on.

Why not? Have you seen the fanmade movie made from the cutscenes of the game? It worked surprisingly well, ME games made to real movie could be excellent experiences if done right. There is nothing wrong if the movie is based around Shepard.
And has anyone even said it would be about Shepard? ME has a vast universe that could be infinitely expanded by movies, novels and whatever. Just like Star Wars you know?
my idea is The First Contact War and the Rachni Wars, but yours is also good! i like it! C:Nazara wrote...
I think a really good Idea would be at the start to do:
"50000 Years Ago"...
*show the Reapers defeat the Protheans*
Then come into the present day, just before the Prothean ruins on Mars.
All this would have to be explained, don't forget not just Mass Effect fans will be watching. New people and families who have never even heard of Mass Effect will watch. sort of like the New Star Trek, people who had not seen the old went to watch it.
