Hahaha BigGiantCircles, great pic :)

As for my 2 cents, if the movie portrays Shepard:
1) He must be the canon male version that bioware showed
2) His face and voice are not from the same person; the voice is capital! It has to be the same as in the game as it is one of the main aspects of the character
3) The solution to part 2 is -> CGI à la Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (not Advent Children)

If they change from the voice actors the movie will suck, if they really want to change they must show another story in the ME universe.

Thats ridiculous, a complete CGI movie not the right answer.  If that's what you want, watch the movies from the game itself, it's what you described.  It need to be real, with real people (actors).  Mark Meer was Shepard's voice.. he is a comedian, not an actor.  Shepard must be played by some can that pull off a soldier/marine, and command respect.  A comedian might have a hard time with that.  Be serious.

*edit* also, I pointed this out months ago, but since there's a lot of "_____ should play _____ because he/she looks like them!" going on, I'll post it again.

Not saying she'd be the perfect actress for the role, but based on physical appearance alone, Megan Fox = Jack?

OMG. Jack is Megan fox if she grows some hair. :o

In the eternal words of Ian Malcolm, one of the survivors of the famous JURASSIC PARK incident, "This is possibly the worst idea, in the history of bad ideas"

WE DON'T NEED A MOVIE!

It will be a horrible, terrible mockery of of both good cinema and good video games unless the studio, director or anyone heavily involved in production fully understands and respects the concept of video games & video game storytelling and/or has played & enjoyed Mass Effect.

Otherwise they will treat it like a joke and slap together a 90 minute explosion fest with no heart or soul. With Mortal Kombat, Doom & even Tomb Raider it did not matter because they did not have much of a story anyway and were already established franchises with a huge fan base. Mass Effect by comparison is still in it's infancy.

What they should do is pull off another STAR WARS gambit and use the movie to create an expanded universe. The movie could be about anything BUT Commander Shepard's story but that will not happen because Hollywood is run by money grabbing parasites.

Our only hope is that we get a good director like JJ Abrams considering the similarity to STAR TREK coupled with Drew Karypshn writing the story with another good scriptwriter (John Nolan please?) in place of the I AM LEGEND hack.

The involvement of Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuck and Casey Hudson is merely for good PR, even if they talk an active role, the producers will simply shove them away and entertain their ideas superficially. And we the fans will be fed sweet honey over how everything is super duper perfect and the whole bioware dev team loves the script but it will all be PR nonsense. The fateful day comes, the movie flops and Mass Effect becomes a laughing stock for a few days

i wish the movie would bve CG with the voice actors from the game.
that i would go see in a heart beat!!
as for live action... im doing a wait and see. so far every comic book / game adaptation I have ever seen has been a let down...

EDIT

except for the new Batman movies. although no 100% true to the comic books I think they captured the character that is the Dark Knight and Ironman, but then again I never followed Ironman Comics so wouldnt know if it follows canon

I hope they get the guy who plays Hurly from lost. Well if they are having a laugh they may as well go all the way. Might as well have Ashley played by The gay guy off Glee and say Tali buy a glove puppet. At least we will have a good laugh. Sure sounds a bad idea having yet another terrible movie version of a game.

This is the absolute worst idea i have ever heard in my life. No matter what fans will be pissed off by whatever choices are made in this game. Don't lye to yourself people. If in this movie Tali is romanced, all the Miranda fans will whine and ****. If Miranda is romanced, all the Tali and Liara fans will whine and ****. If Shepord is female, probably most of the fans will complain. If Shepord is male, probably a quarter of the fans will complain. If Udini becomes the councellor instead of Anderson, most Mass Effect fans will complain. If everyone dies at the sucidial mission in the movie, almost everyone will complain. If Thane is not romanced, many people will complain, if Miranda is favored over Jack some people will complain and some people will complain if Jack is javored over Miranda. If Shepord is an **** (regenade) to everyone in the film, some people might complain. If Shepord is nice and good (Paragon) to everyone in the film, some people will probably complain
Don't lye to yourselves. Mass Effect was a hugely choice oriented game and no matter what fans will be angered because with a movie there will be only one storyline/ only one playthrough so to speak for the movie and there is no chance of everyone being happy with whatever choices they make. In my opinon barely anyone will be happy with a Mass Effect movie with all the choices made in that movie

There is reason why you buy the games, and Bioware makes them.  If they are part of the movie, and have some say in it, then it could turn out alright.

As for "We don't need it."  Speak for yourself, there are plenty of people on here who want to see it, and will give it a chance.  BTW everyone who says they won't see it, or they won't see if they put Shepard in it are Liars, it's easy to say here on a BLOG, where no one knows who you are, and no one would that you would be the first in line on opening day wearing you Paragon shirt.  You guys aren't fooling anyone, so get over yourselves just wait and see.

As for the truth... it's a little early to say, and you are stating your opinion of a forum that Bioware created about a game that Bioware created, and movie that Bioware is producing.... something tells me that they know what they are doing and you don't know what your talking about.  So just calm down Roger Ebert and wait and see, you will be one of the fans who is in line waiting hours before the movie is released.

i think that if they make a movie not based on the game necessarily, but follow a different character, or follow something that happens between games, because then it is generic and no body will complain to much about the choices that are made in the movie because they cannot compare it to their own experiences

Yay! 300 and Watchmen were done well so at the very least this movie will be entertaining but I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Femshep please? (or at least a scene with Garrus fighting through an outdoor antique electronics store)

Ok lets see hmm...

John Shepard must be portrayed by an charismatic, influential, overall actor that is able to completely copy personality of Shepard.Shepard is complicated character.Actor must copy a man favored by thousands of systems and in same time man able to influence most dangerous, smartest, powerfull individuals in ME universe. That requires great charisma, acting skills and experience.

Honestly I'm not sure what actor will be able to do that.Sam Worthington maybe, but he needs to work on his charisma alot.Christian Bale perhaps, he is maybe perfect choice. As for the others well:

Miranda Lawson -Yvonne Strahovski ofc > She is Miranda and I cant think of any other actress to be Miranda. If she is not Miranda in movie i wont watch it.

Joker - Sure Seth Green was good at giving his voice, but his looks are totaly oposite to Jokers and I dont think he would be able to take roll as best pilot in Milcky Way.I don't know who should play him tbh.

Jack (Subject Zero) - A very interesting character and I would love to see Nataly Portman in that role since she never played someone as badass as Jack + we knows she doesnt mind having a hair cut :)

Jacob - Sure Adam Lazarre-White was good in that roll, but he can easily be replaced and wont miss much. Not sure by who, maybe Denzel Washington.

Illusive Man - Its Martin Sheen ofc, end of story.

Kaidan Alenko - His role can easily be filled with some unknown or less known actor, for example.i think Mark Ruffalo would be quite okay in it.

Ashley Williams - Ok I'm really not sure about this one.I would have Holy Marie Combs in consideration, but not sure at all.

David Anderson - Keith David is ok, but can also be Samule L. Jackson

Ok now alien characters. There would be some like Tali, Wrex/Grunt, Garrus, Mordin that would require just voice acting and their actors are quite good.As for Asari, Drell.. that can be played by make-uped actors well :

Liara T'Soni - I would give that role to Anne Hathaway. She is amazing actress and her physical appearance would fit perfectly.

Thane Krios - Ok, when I first heared krios voice acting I thought "What the heck, is this Liam Neeson?".I was suprised to find that it wasn't, and I think that role should go to him.

Samara - Sigourney Weaver would fit nicely, maybe Gillian Anderson at long shot.

Ok that are ppl i would consider for upcomming ME movie. We all know that most of game adapted movies resulted to be less than junk, but I have my faith in this one, or atleast hope.Tbh Bioware crew should write scenario for this one cause they are very good in it.Their Star Wars kotOR series owns Lucas' movies by far in storyline, twists etc.Go Bioware!

So awful they will laugh all the way to the bank with the money you paid to see three times, and the money you paid for the DVD/BRD.  Seriously people quit acting like you won't see it because it's a bad idea, you all will see it.

What's all the talking about a CGI movie? If I want a CGI movie I play the game and watch the cut scenes. If there's really a ME movie coming it has to be live action with real actors.

BTW:

As some people already said: The best would be a movie based on ME (set in the ME universe) with some familar characters from the games showing up and not a complete retelling of one of the games (as we already know the whole story/plot line)

The RESIDENT EVIL movie guys had the right idea. Same universe, different story. Even the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie has a different story to the game with the exception of the titular sands and the Dagger Of Time.

This will be the new Wing Commander.

The Resident Evil Movies sucked horribly, people don't like those movies because they were so off from the original games.  Prince of Persia is already looking bad, considering the main actor doesn't even look Persian.  Nice effects don't always override Hollywood Whitewashing.

Yeah that makes sense, I mean I'm not at all interested and think the idea of a ME movie (or game movies in general) is retarded but gosh golly gee whillickers I sure will watch it not once, not twice but three times and buy the DVD.

Coming from someone that who's signature is, "I'm harbinger, and this is my favorite store on the citadel," your right, you are way to cool to see a movie about a video game.

Here is an idea, if you really have no interest in the movie, why waste all this time saying that you have no interest?  Kinda doesn't make sense, and if you really didn't care or don't want to see it... then don't...
