Shepard is widely recognized as male so I wouldn't get my hopes up for a female in this.
True, I am not sexist, just think that it would be more convincing with a male cast as Shepard

NATHAN FILLION AS COMMANDER SHEPARD!!!! PLEEEEEASEEEEEEE
Good suggestion but I think Jeremy Renner from The Hurt Locker would be an awesome choice.

Other thing: for those that say that this movie should be about others events of the ME universe instead of Shepard story, i say that's similar to making a movie of Ewoks before the return of Jedi
its not realy like that all. its more like people dont want to have there own experiance of shepard ruined by whats likely to be quite a generic shepard in the film not to mention the desire to see a film that would expand an already well written universe.

Why do so many think that a movie made with a default Shepard will somehow ruin their gaming experience? I have 4 Shepards and none of them negate the other so why would a movie Shepard change my gaming experience?

Stop being so rational and sensible. It's not allowed on forums.
I was also wondering the same thing.

Hey massranger, you must've actually thought I was serious about that huh? I see you don't have a sense of humor and just going around starting crap with people on the forum. Lighten up dude, geez.

Actually I didn't even see your post, so chill out, I thought I was responding to the to the posts I quoted not some random dude. But more specifically, my comment was geared to people who really believe that having Shepard in a movie "would ruin the gaming experience." Personally I will see the movie regardless of the story they choose and I won't complain... unless after I see the movie it turns out that it sucks (which I doubt).
Take how you want, but if someone really thinks that, I was asking for them to explain how it would ruin their "experience." I personally don't think someone can, they will say it ruin it for them, but I doubt a valid reason will be stated. If there is one, I will awknowledge it, but I doubt it wil happen.
If you really feel like then I was talking to you, if not then I wasn't... so don't get all sensitive.

Well I had no idea you were responding to someone or about whatever else. Usually when one gets a response to a forum post, it's taken as that, someone responding to you. So it's not about being "sensitive", I made a forum post, you made an asinine comment that seemed to be directed my way.
OK, so now we see it was all a big misunderstanding and you owned up to it. It's cool, I'm not upset at all. I just wanted to give the good folks here on the forum a few chuckles with my casting call. Everyone seems so grrrr, ready to get into a girly slapfight over the 'net just because of a difference of opinion over the Mass Effect movie announcement.
Love, peace, and jellybeans. I'm out.

I think it should be a male Shepard, but if they did choose a female Shepard, i think it should be more of a Kate Beckinsale, or Jessica Biel... I think Hale is a bit too old. I think the voice acters should definately have cameos but some won't be able to hold a staring role that big.

For those who are harping on the problems with female Shepard, you obviously haven't seen Aliens or any of James Camerons work. He loves strong female protagonists and considering none of his movies have ever flopped, I think you can make it happen. Does no one remember the Mom from Terminator? Ripley? Ripley was considered an icon because she was one of the rare female characters not defined by a relationship to a male and, of course, her famous quote of "nuke it from orbit, just to be sure"
By the way, it is sexist to assume that just because someone is a certain gender it is easier for them to command a certain respect. lol, just saying.

I think the WWE Wrestler John Cenna would make an excellent Shepard. He allready has the intimidation factor going. I can totally see him punching out the reporter and Manuel, lol! Shepard needs to be not just a good looking guy but have certain "presence" about him. Shep is not a guy people forget.)

Oh no. This will ruin my gaming experience. B'cos MY Shep did not touch the Prothean beacon on Eden Prime (resulting in Ashley's death), did not become Spectre, did not command Normandy, worked alongside Sovereign, recruited Benezia and Saren into my party, failed the attack on the Citadel, consequently joining the Collectors instead of choosing Cerberus, recruited the Harbinger, harvested few hundred thousands of human, tried to build the human Reaper, but got defeated by Joker and crew, is Renegade and is a Vorcha (second char Varren) who hate Humans. Unless someone can tell me they played it similar to mine, what's there to ruin?
