what about Angelina Jolie she is gorgeous and can act so i think that she could make a good Samara or Liara ( maybe even a jack)
And her looks matter for anything because? looks dont improve acting. Base it on acting. Looks are an added bonus. Now back to the point...did you even pay attention to the age that Liara is considered? Shes just barely out of jailbait status as far as Asari standards go. No possible way for Jolie at this stage in life anymore. As for Jack or Samara its kind of pointless to even discuss those characters as its going to be a ME1 based movie.

Any further information, such as story or cast? Also, will it feature Commander Shepard, if so, male or female?
Better be male, all of the trailers, promotional videos, etc have featured a male shepard, and its obvious that the developers created Shepard as a male first, and then added the female adaptation to support their fanbase.
Edit - Sam Worthington would make the perfect Shepard. Even looks like the default Shepard and he's an awesome actor.

yes you are right i just carried away well are you sure that it is going to be an ME1 movie that is even about shep cause i read that bioware said that Shepard is to personal for the players to even make him a role in a movie (read this a long time though)

Seeing as the movie rights were sold based on "Mass Effect" , as in the first game, and not rights to the general Mass Effect universe its pretty safe to say its going to be a movie centered around Shepard and the original game plot.

Sigh I'm so sick of people naming actors because they have physical....
Atleast if it was Natalie Portman's name dropped more often with her shaved head photo or something....
Long ago there was a discussion and I did name drop Natalie Portman, but I just couldn't think of any others. It's been a long time since a females performance has really gripped me :/
For that character anyway. For Liara we have Sophia Myles, who is just lovely and has a lot of potential.

I really see Angelina as a fairly mediocre actress. And anyway, think of her acting style...
Now you've thought about it, how could she portray someone like Samara? They need to be very careful casting Samara, and the person chose has to grip your eyes to the screen. They need someone very special for such an interesting character... lets say 'aweinspiring'.
And Liara, like I said, in my eyes it's Sophia Myles. She can act and she has an intelligent aura about her. Not to mention shes beautiful. I would love to see her as Liara.
I think I'll photoshop that next :innocent:
Overall I think people are just picking actors from the A-list because they don't know the names of others. There's more actors in the world than the dozens or so that we all know.
Look at the performance of Sharlto Copley in DIstrict9. Sorry but you are blind if you don't see that performance as outstanding acting.

Hmm.. I know Sophia from the Moonlighting TV show that kinda died and her little role in Underworld. Not familar with much else though. My concern would be her age. I think they really need to try and get a young actress in the role. Hate to yank from the Harry Potter movies again but Example: Bonnie Wright or some up and comer as a breakout role. I just see Liara as very young and naive, something that breaks for me if I know the actress was 30.

I see what you mean and now it worries me. Liara needs to ooze youth, but they'de be treading a fine line considering that Liara is an LI in the games. Difficult one. I still think Sophia would do well. If you have the time watch Tristan and Isolde. She has an innocence to her, but also intelligence, perhaps it would change your mind.

I Agree completely, there are plenty of actors and actresses who deliver more on a camera compared to fox, jolie, etc.. plus the casting director should look around the world not, and stay away from L.A.--Holly Wood is too corrupt. imagine if George Lucas gave up since Holly Wood dissed him from the start!Axeface wrote...

Hmm... Hopefully there is a good bit of Mark Strong in the movie, I cant seem to click with James Franco as an actor. I zoned out every time Harry Osborn came on screen in the Spiderman movies.

Yep I dont really like James Franco either, he doesn 'OK' as Tristan though. By the way, Rufus Sewell is very good too, really liked him in that film. Mark Strong plays a fairly periferal role in the film really.
Back to the subject of Liara and about your previous comments that I missed.
The only young actress that I can think of is Dakota Fanning, but shes still too young despite so many years acting. Bonnie Wright, I just dont think she can act :/ She has the innocence and naivity we need for Liara but I'm afraid that I think that is her and not her acting.

Yeah, Bonnie was the first that came into my head. I was trying to think of a younger actress without defaulting to Emma Watson or a Disney Tween Star. Um... maybe Anna Sophia Robb ??? By the time the movie would even be close to coming out she'll be around 19/20

Is she the actress that plays the snobby girl in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? I think she did quite well, definate possibility. It's a shame Dakota Fanning isnt a bit older because she can really act, but even if the film came out in 2 years shes still only be 18.

Yeah she was in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Because of Winn-Dixie was also a nice little movie too for a debut movie role.

I think she has potential.

well i dont think that its going to be based off the first game because the story has been done in a more grasping way already, a video game.
I disagree with this. While games have come a long way and are 'getting there', wuith Bioware at the forfront, they still do not have the power to move us in the way a film can. I have yet to cry (almost got there with ME2), laugh histerically (not quite, had some chuckles) for hours or be truly humbled (ME1 got so so close) by a game.
ME and ME2 have emotional moments but they arnt like watching The Green Mile. I'm really looking forward to when games can make me weep like that film did, in fact I cant wait.
Then they will be THE entertainment medium.
