well i dont think that its going to be based off the first game because the story has been done in a more grasping way already, a video game. it would be like the 1998 psycho remake, pointless. also this has probobly been said, but by making a canonical shepard they are taking away from the people who completely immerse themselves in the game. all the books and comics have made mentions of shepard and his/her decisions but never expanded on it leaving us to fill in the story we created in the games into the story of the books. this is just my opinion

Oh drop the elitist crap nonsense. Making a movie version of Shepard is not taking anything away from the games.  ME3 will be out before the movie  and have no affect what-so-ever on the games. A "canonical" take would ruin immerse?? Its no different than replaying the game 3-4 times making different choices to take in all the options of the game(s).

I think I'm excited about this! I have doubts, but I trust Bioware. And, even if a part of me would like to see a movie not about Shepard, I understand that a movie about the First Contact War (just an example) wouldn't be as epic as ME1. So... good work!!

As we're discussing stuff so well, how do you feel about Chris Evans? (For Shep)
For me, he's always in films that I loathe playing boring parts, BUT his performance as Mace in Sunshine really impressed me. Some heart-wrenching stuff at one point :( Wont spoiler in case you haven't seen it.

Anyway, while Chiwetel Eliofor is my first choice, Chris Evans based on his great performance in that film would be my second. I think he has a huge amount of untapped (Fault of directors) talent.

If he can pull off Captain America, I'll be game for him as Shepard.  He certainly can pull off the cocky smartass well, which could work for some of the renegade aspects of Shepard.  I dont know how I feel about him in a military style character role.    Johnny Storm was a very wild child character which despite the Fantastic 4 movies not being as well received as some of the other Marvel movies I enjoyed.  Problem is though if he nails Steve Rogers... He's going to be Captain America in my mind from that point forward.

i thought chris evans was excellent in The Losers. so i wouldn't mind him playing shepard tbh.

although i'd really love to see a cgi ugly shepard, unless of course there's someone who actually looks like that.

i don't really care who plays who in the movie as long the characters are convincing and true to the characters in the game

and don't screw this up like hollywood usually does when they come up with a game to movie conversion

but who knows, maybe they will get it right this time

Chris Evans has signed for nine films as Captain America he literally won't have time to make Mass Effect.

Andy Withfield, Matthew Bomer or Chris Pine would be some good choices I believe.

SWEET I cant wait for it. I've been saying there would one day be a ME movie.

I think Vin Diesel or Adam Baldwin should play him :)
They are both huge and menacing just the thing for a bad *** commander shepard.
not a lot of young and reasonable built action actors around any more

And for the love of god get a decent director. and not that fool that always ruins game to movie adaptations.

I think i'de throw myself out of a 20 storey building if they picked either of those guys. And I love Adam Baldwin.

I liek sam worthington but i dont think he is suited for action movies... i mean clash of the titans sucked bad. he did good in avatar but theres alot of cgi in it.

and if it gunna be female dont have jolie or megan fox.

I still think Adam baldwin is a great choice since he isnt overly huge, and can play both renegade and paragon (although they'd probably want to use him for kal'regar if they make a sequal :P)

The man is a beast he's 6' 4" and has a very huge constitution, not that I'm saying that's bad, Shepard is supposed to have an excellent body.
Still can't picture Adam as Shepard, too much Chuck I guess, although it would be extremely funny to see him flirting with Yvonne Strahovski.

Miranda - Yvonne Strahovski (duh)
Joker - Seth green (duh)
Zaeed - Jeffrey Dean Morgan

To be honest, I'm kind of sceptical about this movie, but who knows, it might turn out to be great.

It would be so awesome if there were two versions of the movie. One with a male Shepard and one with female Shepard. Maybe even some Paragon/Renegade differences in dialogues. You could choose which one you wanted to see, or just see both.

I doubt that's possible, though. >:

I'll be showing my age here ......

Back when the movie Clue came out.  Yes the movie based on a board game. We didnt have  those fancy Xboxs and Computers back in '85.  Anyways.. Clue actually was shot with three seperate endings and different locations were given different versions of the film.  So it has been done before with a movie doing multiple versions... or atleast endings.   Would be cool if there was a Council dies vs a Council saved ending of the movie.

Michael Clark Duncan in a suit with some CGI  aid could pull off Wrex.  Or maybe Kevin Grevioux who played Raze in Underworld (heck, even his voice would need almost no assistance).

Ya just as long as he goes down the way of dr. manhattan in watchmen by being mostly CGI.  Duncan was the first person who came to mind for wrex (and cole train if they have a GoW movie)

Yeah, there have been movies with different endings. A recent movie Paranormal Activity had that too I think. But I've never heard of two versions of a movie where there were two different main characters to choose from.
