As long as it DOESN'T look like 300, I will be happy. if the make it like Star trek or most other Sci-Fi movies it could be grand.

Wow, well, I'd love to see a well done movie based in the ME Universe, and it's certainly possible to make an epic movie out of the material, but whether they will is another matter entirely. But someone has to change the horrible track record of video games-turned movies. It's ridiculous how long this bad reputation has gone on and there's no excuse for it because video games are great source material for movies if someone with a brain would take up the reins...

As for whether it's about Shepard or not - I don't care. I'm always given the feeling that there is a canon route in the games regardless of the choices I make. I'm taking the route that's not as common and therefore the least likely to happen, but I don't care. Who cares if the movie follows Shepard? It doesn't make it 'canon' per say, and it doesn't matter, because you still have the choice to do it differently when you play the games - if they want it to play out a certain way for the sake of a movie, what's the big deal? The games will still play out as they always have with your choices determining how it ends in your Universe. I don't really care if the movie does something else, as long as it does it WELL.

Or they might not base it around Shepard at all. Whatever they do, I really rather wish it doesn't focus as heavily on humanity, but it will anyway because people are boring. So, my next best hope is that they integrate all the alien species thoroughly in the movie because they are what make the ME Universe interesting in the first place.

Well, in my honest opinion (and as many people have written before me), I think an ME movie should be based on the Universe and not Shepard... Bioware intended the games to be a trilogy... *Shepard's trilogy*...and I think it should stay like that. Don't add a movie to his/her story arc. It would definitely be conflicting with the many different Shepards out there and the choices each one of us made in the games. There is a LOT of material in the ME Universe to base a movie on. I think the First Contact War would be fantastic. The discovery of the ruins in Mars and the Mass Relays... maybe even the "extinction" of the Protheans or any other race before them. Quarians and Geth. How Cerberus came to be perhaps. Hell, there's enough material in the ME Universe to make a couple of movies (another trilogy?), but they shouldn't be a re-telling of the story in the games. If they plan on re-telling anything, then maybe the books. They could even build on the backstory of characters we've seen in the games like The Illusive Man (that'd be interesting, IMO), Miranda, Liara, Ashley... Kaidan would also be interesting (the biotic experiments and whatnot)... but in the end, I just don't think the movie should touch on Shepard or the story arc we've played through the games...

This is either going to be epic or a horrible flop!

Lets hope it can match the quality of the games so far!!

The same reason you can't see biel... biel is an actress who has played tough before, takes care of herself, and her looks, and she has experience ACTING, and it would still be hard.  The VA have little or no experience acting, so all they would be doing is reading the lines as themselvf in very monotone voice.  If you don't think so, look at movies that have cameos from famus people who are not actors.   Look at "something about marry,"  with brett favre.  Fravre has more experience than most about performing/playing in front of thousands, and speaking on live TV.  Yet put him on a set were he plays himself... and he sounds nothing like himself, and has no personality.  Now this one of America's biggest personalitys, and he sounded completely monotone.  Now I am sure there are the few that are good, but the number of bad would be far more than the good.

The VA actors may not have this exact problem, they may be at the other end of the spectrum, and they may overact because they are more accustomed to sitting and talking into a mic, and not full out acting.  With few exceptions, it woud be a full out disaster.  Just what I think.

Plus it won't happen, Legendary and WB will want some larger names, maybe "huge names" but they will want actors.

Have you even looked at the resumes for the VAs involved in Mass Effect?  Over 90% of them have experience as stage actors or on TV/Film already.  Voice-over actors are very much real actors. To say otherwise is highly insulting to the profession.

As far as how its made the less like star trek the better, prsonnally I though 300 was visualy outstanding. But of course there has to be a deeper plot line than 300. Even though 300 is based on a true story this movie is going to need alot of depth. As far as who should be commander Shepard I could only say an unkown actor might be best.

Here's why you don't put Shep in the movie from a monetary standpoint:

The fans don't want it.

Newcomers won't care.

Two thumbs down for this stupid statement!!! Posted Image

He says they don't exist, not that they can't exist. Since you say this is a stupid statement you can name at least one example of an living elite female commando. Still, that wouldn't make him stupid, it would just mean he's wrong.

I am expecting something great. Because unlike other games, Mass Effect is centered around that Cinematic feel, and has a universe with immense possibilities, which means it will translate perfectly into a movie.

Now all that remains is seeing which story direction they go with. First Contact war? Any of the books? It should be good.

Sounds like there's some good talent being put behind this. Mass Effect definitely has the potential for a great film; but given Hollywood's half ass treatment of game franchises in the past, I'll have to wait till it comes out before I start getting hyped.

I second that Kurt Russel would make a damned good Commander Shepard.

I hope, Shepard isn't in the movie.
Cause i am Shepard. I play Shepard, so i am Shepard.

If Shepard plays a main role in the movie, it will frustrate me.

Btw a nice idea to make a movie. But i hope, a good movie.
And i hope, that they concentrate mainly onto the game.

Ugh, no way. I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Matthew Fox is way too old to play Shepard.  He's 43 years old already, by the time the movie was out he'd be 45-47.  Shepard is 29.  Do the math.

Chris Evans should be Commander Shepard.

So what you're saying is...if they made a completely epic movie on par with some of the greatest ever made, with brilliant story telling, characters, and visuals - basically everything you could ask for and more - but it was about Shepard, you wouldn't watch it?

Well, suit yourself, but I seriously doubt they'd be hurting overmuch with the loss of one fan.

Because if they made a movie of the highest quality, from a monetary standpoint, it wouldn't make a lick of difference whether it was about Shepard or not - they would milk it til the cows came home, both newcomers and fans alike. Everyone would love it because it would be awesome instead of the flop we've come to expect.

But it probably won't be about Shepard anyway. As long as they don't substitute with something completely moronic, it makes no difference to me.

How about having Shep as a cameo character-like,the movie could be about another dude in ME universe and at some part of the movie,he could meet with Shepard?Btw,to the person who thinks matthew fox is a suitable shepard:Not bad,but cmon, does fox really have the sufficent acting ability to successfully portray a hardened Systems Alliance veteran soldier/savior of the world??

But whatever you do Bioware, cast Mr.T as Wrex!

Have you seen LOST?... hah incredible acting. Fox would be the best suitable choice for the human spectre! Its kinda a must for bioware to see that fox is hired for this, but im wondering how Garrus might look hah

Matthew Fox is 43. Shepard is 29. That's almost a 15 year difference in age. What part of this are you people not getting? I don't care how much he looks like the default Shepard, he is too old. A person in his mid-40s has no business trying to portray a character in his late-20s.

Chris Evans... come on hah by far the worst suggestion. Not only is he doing Captain America, terrible casting, but the guy is too over played. They need a new face to big time acting and im sure Fox would be dead on. For his looks, Hollywood is a crazy place hah You can look 20 years younger in just a couple hours with makeup n whatever else is on set.
