Personally, I'm hoping it will have a female Shepard as lead... Who they'd have playing her though, I'm not sure. Maybe just have Jennifer Hale do something other than just voice? Shes good looking enough to actually appear on screen as Shep. Otherwise, I could see Sam Worthington ending up as Shepard... and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Jennifer Hale is awesome, but not someone I would have play FemShep live-action.  She'll be 40 by the time the filming would begin on the movie.

*sighs*

I swear if I hear Sam Worthington's no talent ass mentioned one more time I'm gonna break something...

*waits for the next person to say the name*

Again, why are we even assuming its going to have Shep in it at all?  If they go with a first contact war timeline or something else of that nature I assume all of these folks speculating on who's goig to play Shepard are going to be angry lol.  Oh well, serves em right for counting their chickens so to speak :P

We're not assuming... We're actually reading the freakin information thats been released.

http://movies.ign.co.../1092495p1.html

"The producers behind The Dark Knight and Spider-Man are teaming for Mass Effect, a live-action, big screen adaptation of the Electronic Arts-BioWare videogame. "

"Mass Effect is a tremendous property ripe for translation to the big screen," said Thomas Tull, Chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures, in a statement. "Mass Effect is a prime example of the kind of source material we at Legendary like to develop; it has depth, compelling characters and an engaging back story. This coupled with Avi and Ari producing and the skills of a great team adapting the screenplay, are the start of turning this smash videogame based property into a successful feature film."

Really? Where in that does it say Shepard is going to be in it?  Just because the movie is "based" from the game doesnt mean it's going to be the same time frame lol.  Again, you're assuming.  Until you show me EXACTLY where it says shep's going to be in it, you're just blowing smoke my friend.  First Concact War is "technically" part of the game...As in the game's history...which makes it part of the game...which means the movie can be based upon it in order to fill the gap between first contact and ME1...

Because if you're talking about that last bit at the bottom...it's actuall referring to the GAME lol...

Oh no.... this can't be good. Everyone of us has his/her own picture of Shepard and his/her actions, so if it's his/her story, most won't like it. If it's not his/her story, it'll probably going to be one of those movie productions that go like "we'll make something a bit different so that the fans still watch it and others like it too", which then results in fans not liking it and others not caring about it, because they didn't care for the game in the first place.

sorry fo my english..

Legendary Pictures
and Zack Snyder and ME Universe = Best Sci-fi at least for a decade.
Just look at the Watchmen, a lot of people said it can't work on film, because the amount of details and levels of the story, the characters and so on. You can "hate" the idea or the story of the film, but the quality of the story telling is perfect, very precise and balanced. Even a glass of water in the set has got the emission of the original core idea, the feeling yes it's Watchmen. This kind of proper work, what ME needs, not to transform it to stg else.

ME has got the SCI like Star Trek, the FI like Star Wars, but ME is not a fairy tale like SW. It's got realistic, darker, real-life sides like Blade Runner and Watchmen. The movie can't has the feeling that everything will be fine...

I think a good ME movie is not action orientated, like Clash of the Titans, with a lot of action scenes and almost nothing between them. Sure, good action scenes are part of the story(every chapter ended with one), but in the way like at the british S.A.S\\: short, hit-and-run (This is very well described in the first 2 "books") not like Rambo. Not too many, too long, but well made. It can be a good choice to train the actors with peoples, who are\\were in active duty (at Special Forces of course). How to handle a gun, shoot, move, the tactics, because Shep isn't a regular soldier-boy, and his "army" a militia. He's working in a small sized group, they are every time outnumbered, so without them he's nothing and vica versa. Trust and co-op!
Even if the movie s*cks, this part has to be realistic.

Female Shep, like the full Par\\Ren way, is not an option. Saren is Renegade, Shep isn't. I think, like in real world he's 70-30 Par\\Ren (like Bruce in Die Hard 1-3), and 70-30 Soldier\\Engineer, not a biotic.
Andy Whitfield! :) Matthew Fox is a doctor type, he can't get N7 training, he would die in it..:)

Saren has to be as important as Shep. Saren, like a villain, is as good as the ME universe itself!

Story:
If Shep is in it, we don't need new (maybe s*it) story.
ME1 and maybe cut-mix with the Revelation(first sections closed by the dialogue by Anderson and Grissom before First Contact War).

Eden Prime, Citadel, Noveria(with MAKO and rachni!), Feros(to the Thorian on the heaven-highway:)), Virmire, Short-Citadel, Ilos. We don't need sidequests, only the main core, prelude like Revelation. It can be done, hard but like Watchmen, it can be done.

But if Shep is NOT in..For first filmI think is the better, maybe the best way:
Prelude with Revelation(first sections closed by the dialogue by Anderson and Grissom before First Contact War), the war, new species, galactic community, citadel and so on. But the story is not ready like in ME1...can be another Wing Commander s*it..? :(.

Make a highly detailed, proper sci-fi, story telling, like Watchmen, mix of Star Trek(SCI) and Star Wars(FI),in a mature way like Blade Runner.

He is perfect for this role!!! We need to keep the same default male shepard as in the game! Please Bioware!!! I will buy everthing you have and will ever make in the future!! This proves it. The Mass Effect movie no matter what they do will suck unless they care about making it more than a summer action film. However, the good thing will be that everyone will forget the film in about a week and Bioware can slap themselves for coming up with the stupid idea of letting Hollywood make a film

Unfortunately, it's a little bit late for that. They're currently trying to find a director for this movie. Here's something for some possible directors
http://movies.ign.co.../1093640p1.html
As for PoP, I heard it was decent. So as the technology comes, it's going to be better than decent.

This...simply because if they DO have shepard in the movie they are damned...Simply because, if they make him a Renegade'ish shepard, the **** paragon players will be up in arms about it.....And if they make him a **** paragon'ish type character, the ****hole renegade players will be up in arms about it.....Hence why the arguement that shepard will most likely not even be in it is a more likely probability.  This way, they can do something like First Contact War and fill in the gap before ME1 and give the audience a better understanding of WHY the Turians and Humans are the way they are toward each other.  Also, we'd be able to finally (possibly) answer for certain which side started the war in the first place, the Turians, or the Humans.

I just checked the imdb page for Avi Arad and I doubt this movie will see the light of the day anytime soon. Do you know how much more videogames movies he is producing? Infamous, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, EverQuest and Lost Planet besides some other non videogame stuff like, Ghost in the Shell, Venom, Silver Surfer and Popeye. This guy has too much on his hands...

Seth Green NEEDS to play Joker and Keith David NEEDS to play Captain David Anderson!!!!!

As for Commander Shepard he should be played by HUGH JACKMAN!!! and if he can't do it then get Mark Wahlberg or Sam Worthington!!

Peopel will whine no matter what one does. If they base a movie on something completely else, you will have people whine that it's nto really a Msss Effect move.
Whining is irrelevant. Especially whining by stupid, stupid people.

They should concetrate on mayking a good movie and not give a **** about whiners.

Anyone think that any of these directors should direct mass effect?

J.J. Abrams Alfonso Cuaron Neill Blomkamp

Ridley Scott Duncan Jones Alex Proyas

These are 6 directors that ign has picked

http://movies.ign.co.../1093640p1.html

Honestly, I think that half of these directors shouldn't be involved at all.

You are under the impression that the movie must be of the same size and scope of the game, or even about the events inside the game themselves. Sadly, this is not the case.

A movie could look into abbreviated events, off-screen happenings, or it could simply make things up.

M'aiq respects the large amount of freedom the writers probably have with the movie. You, too, should respect this.

I do hope that the story is based on ME1 - leaving plenty of room for two sequels. :)

As for fans being upset that the movie Shepard isn't like their Shepard, it occurred to me that the movie would just reflect one more possible telling of the ME1 storyline. We all have our own Shepards, with their own personalities and looks. This is just one more Shepard to add to the list. The one that the non-gaming world gets to see mind you, so I think he/she should show off a bit of paragon and renegade tendencies.

No it shouldn't be 100% animation - it would be better to have a combination of real actors and cgi.

As long as the studio & the director treat MASS EFFECT like a brand new idea they came up with and literally build things from the ground up, then we can have a truly good science fiction film that just happens to be set in the Mass Effect universe.

Otherwise.... DOOOMED! WE ARE ALL DOOMED!!!

Once again, make an intelligent science fiction film, then put the Mass Effect characters in it.
