I like how most people are pretending this movie will actually be good and are excitedly thinking up actors for it.
Just want to be optimistic, and discussing our opinions. A small chance to be a good movie about ME, is worth to do like that.

It's gonna be epic, just trust BioWare.

Bioware is in a no-win situation with this movie. It doesn't matter what they produce; it will ****** off/disappoint someone, guaranteed. There is no way they can make Shepard appear at all without alienating large parts of the fandom.
If any characters from the main game appear, they will have to be voiced by the game cast to gain acceptance, and at that point why don't you just make a CGI film or another ME game.
There is an extraordinary opportunity to expand upon the already awesome Mass Effect universe in the way they have already done with other media, but I don't believe the Legendary will accept that. They will want to cash in on the existing popularity of the brand by watering down the story into a 90 minute digestible chunk.
It's most likely going to be like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings; an adaptation, not an actual contribution to the universe, which makes me sad.
I hope I'm wrong, though; I would love to see a movie about the First Contact War; something we can consider a canon expansion instead of locking a specific Shepard down. I like my Shep freedoms ^^

*sigh* I'll just have to trust the good people at Bioware to not let these movie execs ruin Mass Effect for the players though

Unfortunately, Hollywood isn't that creative and we will get a generic male shep played by Sam Worthington because the horrible parasites who run the show think American's can't handle anything more radical

This...simply because if they DO have shepard in the movie they are damned...Simply because, if they make him a Renegade'ish shepard, the **** paragon players will be up in arms about it.....And if they make him a **** paragon'ish type character, the ****hole renegade players will be up in arms about it.....Hence why the arguement that shepard will most likely not even be in it is a more likely probability. This way, they can do something like First Contact War and fill in the gap before ME1 and give the audience a better understanding of WHY the Turians and Humans are the way they are toward each other. Also, we'd be able to finally (possibly) answer for certain which side started the war in the first place, the Turians, or the Humans.
Peopel will whine no matter what one does. If they base a movie on something completely else, you will have people whine that it's nto really a Msss Effect move.
Whining is irrelevant. Especially whining by stupid, stupid people.
They should concetrate on mayking a good movie and not give a **** about whiners.
Kind of my point lol...Hence why the movie should be based during the First Contact War or the like....That way, when the inevitable happens and people start pissing and moaning, the team at BioWare can logically give folks the good ol' New York One finger salute and say too bad.

Honestly, the players have no say in the movie, and shouldn't have any say in the movie. Cause according to the comment, most of them are idiots anyway.
For movie, you're looking for a good plot and characters. ME1 has both. There's no need to write a completely knew story when you already have a beautiful one that can be adapted to the big screen easily. Yes, I said easily.
All those "oh no, don't take Shep away from me" should get a life already..or some brain.
Their objections make no sense whatsoever.

Well, that's the thing...Technically the first contact war isnt "new"...It's already in the story's lore/codex/whatever lol...All they would have to do is fine tune a couple of things and it could just as easily be adapted as the already existing story itself.
I also agree with what you said along the lines of how "we" shouldnt have a say in the movie whatsoever.....Sure, listening to the fans and giving the fans what they want in a game is fine, but when you're going for a movie, you basically have to say "screw the fan suggestions" and go about doing what you were going to do anyway.
Me personally, Id "like" to see the story revolve around first contact. However, BioWare Im sure already has pretty much what they're going to do "loosely" on the screen play by now. Only problem is cast.

The worst part is that when the first pictures start coming in you all will be so mesmerized by the special effects that you will forget all about actual quality and happily go to the theater only to come back enraged and disappointed.
It happened with Transformers and now it's happening again
I can see the threads now... full of rage and the mods shutting them down and having an announcement that bans us from saying anything bad about the movie and if we do then we will be banned permanently from the site

I would prefer if the movie told us what happened in the 2 years between sheps death and me 2.It maybe could show what the squadmates from me 1 or me 2 did in that time or just tell a completely different sidecharacters story that you hear of in one of the games. there are many possibilites to make a good movie but there are enough to make a bad one too. (excuse the bad english please. thanks)
