In Theory A ME movie could be awesome but beware Bioware if it becomes like Eregon..a awesome book with possibly one of the worst ____ movies ever that was about 1% accurate to book. The Fans will Rage, don't let it be another hollywood **** up because they treat video games like the are stupid kid stuff that no one could possibly be looking for something serious from
I second that.
BIOWARE- be a part of the production of your movie. Paolini let some director make the Eragon movie his movie and that guy ripped out more than half the lore and systematically destroyed every plot element leading into a second movie (aside from the existance of the main villain). Don't let Hollywood go crazy with your stuff.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I second this, Bioware!

There is not a single shred of hope that this movie will be good.
Heard that line many times before. People were saying the same thing about Watchmen.. and Batman Begins... and Spiderman.... and many others.
There's no way to tell this early.

Otherwise the ones mentioned by IGN are not bad, J.J. Abrams would be mostly perfect though, Blomkamp did a good job with Distric 9 and Duncan Jones did nice with Moon too, although I think he might be too minimalistic for Mass Effect.
I love Ridley Scott, and he has one of the best sci-fi films ever, Blade Runner but he'll probably be busy with Robin Hood's sequel but I wouldn't be disapointed to see him direct, Cuarón and Proyas have very, very good films (Children of Men and The Crow come to mind) but I don't really know how would they fare with Mass Effect.

matthew fox or oded ferh as shepard. for fox lost is over and he said he's leaving tv permanently so he would probably be available. for oded ferh the reason im suggesting him is that i created one of my shepards to look like him, but i think he would make a great shepard. if eany one suggest christain bale or channing tatum im just gonna die on you.
skeet ulrich or jamie bamber as alenko
jordana brewster as ashley
for captain anderson you've got to go with keith david, but if he wasn't available i would go with dennis haysbert, watch the early part of season three of the unit he has the anderson look.
for liara i would be find with eany one.
for wrex any large badass with a deep voice would do.
if brandon keener wasn't available i would go with either kiefer sutherland or max martini as garrus
jamie foxx as jacob taylor
katee sackoff as jack she could be as ****y and unlikable as jack as she was as kara thrace.
thoughts eanyone.

I will watch, but it will star Male Shepard which puts a damper on things to me.
Like I said before, Milla Jovovich for Shepard. It's a winner!

It doesn't do any damage to the ME games IMO, it's a different entity. I welcome it and hope they stick to doing movies based off the games.
Seth Green for Joker!

I like it. THe movie will be a unique experience, like everybody's playthroughs of the games are a unique experience. It's just one possible experience, not THE definitive experience.

I don´t think that the possible movie has to be based on the games at all.
There are two good novels that can provide good material for a good movie:
I ME Revelation we have a young Lt. Anderson, a young Saren, Kahlee Sandres and her fahter.
Also batarians, krogans, elcor etc.
The story begins a little before the first contac war, when Shepard and his/her friends are nowhere near the horizon so, if well made, the movie could be the base for a franchise like Star Trek or Star Wars.
On the other hand is ME Ascension where we have Omega and the Migrant Fleet, a biotic girl, her father, Cerberus & TIM.
That novel begins a little after the battle of the Citadel and Shepard is mentioned only once at the begining of the first chapter.
Both books have all we like of the game: mass relays, biotics, lots of action & aliens, space ships, futuristic weapons and so on.
I read not too long ago that another novel (can´t remember its name) is about to be released, if not already been, so a good producer will have a lot of good material to work without compromising the games.
PS: after watching Doom & Far Cry I perfectly understand the fears of many posters, I share them
I still think that way, no need for the movie to be based on any game at all
If it could be a CGI movie like Avatar or Beowulf it would be wonderful, mainly because of the tons of special effects a movie like that would have.
