I just bought Dragon Age Origins: Deluxe Edition from Steam. After fiddling with all the graphics options, I am still facing a frankly unacceptable drop in FPS while playing. Here are my specs

Processor - AMD Phenom 9600 Quad Core 2.3 GHz
Memory - 4 gigs ram
Display - GeForce 9800 GT
Windows - Windows & 64Bit (6.1, Build 7600)
DirectX - DX 11

It essentially happens when I have to fight any more than 5 people, also all the cut scenes and dialogs lag like crazy too. I know my specs are above recommended so i do not see what the dealeo is.

Turn off anti-aliasing. Reduce Detail to Medium. Textures reduce setting to Medium.

Also, on the Online settings, turn everything off - that is, uncheck all options.

I have already tried setting all the settings to freaking LOW and truned off all related graphics options. I really don't understand why it is "lagging" so much. My specs are above recommended.

My PC is 4-years-old running Windows XP - not a mondo gaming machine by any stretch. The problem is not to do with hardware.

Did you try turning off the Online options?? Uncheck all the Online options, exit the game then go back in.

I'm not talking about playing the game off-line or on-line. I'm talking about the On-line options.

With Dragon Age running, Goto Options. Select the Online tab page. Uncheck all the options there.

yeah after about 25 minutes it still starts to lag again. That is what i forgot to mention, to start off with it does not really lag much, but it gets progressively worse, as do the load times get progressively longer.

Sounds like a memory leak.

Do you have patch 1.03 installed? Patch 1.03 was supposed to alleviate the memory leak problem but it also introduces a lot of other bugs. I'd only install patch 1.03 if you let Awakening do the install.

Another one bites the dust with patch 1.03. Follow some of the pointers posted here but in any case, the latest patch really broke the game thereby being very slow to totally unplayable for some.

Just wait for the patch, if Bioware plans to issue one. May is almost over and still no announcement as to the status of the patch supposedly they are working on.
