Okay, so every single time I'm down to the last ten hours of gameplay, my save file gets corrupted.  I need to know every single source of corruption that has been discovered in this game so that when I finally forgive Dragon Age for eating over 100 hours of my life (2 games corrupted) I can cruise through a playthrough without a problem.  So far the ones I know/heard of:

1) Overloading merchants.  My first 52 hour save was eaten because I sold damn near everything to Bodhan and I hear that was the cause of losing that save.

2) Saving too much (lolwut?)  I don't have a reason to believe this was the case for last night's corruption of 55 hours, but I've heard it can cause problems.

3) The game can only handle so much money having ever existed.  If there is a culprit in my last game, it is this one.  I took advantage of the crystal trick in Redcliffe a few times.  I never overloaded any merchants, instead I targetted the ones I had sold hardly anything to.  I'm not even sure that the game keeps track of total money spent, but I can tell you the highest gold I ever hit was 425.5.

So what are the other sources of corruption?  Are the ones I listed legit?  Please let me know what you guys have figured out.  I cannot bear to watch another game come together SO perfectly and then in the hours leading up to the Final Battle (I was there, seriously.  I had just completely the Landsmeet and gotten Loghain) the save file corrupts and when you decide to randomly reload because you remembered a chest you needed to pick up you lose over 50 hours of your life.

Ok well. The crystal glitch in redcliffe is the major source of the overloading merchants problem. Frankly, even doing it once is pointless. There's a much MUCH MUUUUCH simpler way to get gold on consoles. It's a little quick button press trick. Done correctly it either gives you double gold for an item you sell (allowing you to buy it back and repeat over and over to build up cash) or dupes at item outright (depends on how many you have in inventory). Just look up DA Item Dupe gold trick or something on google. It's easy to find and easy to do.

Do you have Warden's Keep? If so, overloading the party chest there is the same as overloading a merchant. Either the items will disappear permanently (if you're lucky) or the saves will corrupt. I read somewhere that the max is 90 items. I'd keep it around that at most.

Otherwise yeah....just sell whatever vendor trash you pick up in the areas you already are instead of carting it all back to camp. Spreads it out nicely that way. I don't think you can get a corrupt game by having too much gold. I usually do my little trick to get up to between 1000-2000 just to make sure I have plenty.

Hmmm...I'll look into it. I can't honestly say that without an investment into fixing these corruption issues if I will ever be willing to risk another 50+ hours of my life.
