She is strong and isn't looking for Shepard to protect her, which might be why female gamers like her, she doesn't play the 'save me', card! (Which I hate, btw <_<;))

As a female gamer, I completely agree with this.  I love the fact that BioWare included a strong female character without a "Princess Peach" complex, and that she retained that strength and self-respect throughout the progression of her romance.  Ash even goes so far as to tell Shepard that she likes who she is, doesn't need a man to make her happy, and that Shepard better like her too - I love that kind of self-confidence, and it really made Ash a standout character for me.

Again, added the list of things I like about Ashley. She was strong and willful and independant and her romance wasn't based solely around worshipping and being endlessly protected by Shepard. I mean even at the romance scene where she is at her most vulnerable she's still strong and resiliant while still showing an emotional soft side.

I'm a male gamer and i also agree with this...at first in games it was nice to see men saving their LI or women in general...but after a while it got boring...
this is one reason why i like Ashley...

I have to agree with this as well Kendall it does get boring quick. Just glade that in Image IPB

Pariah, Image IPB

PreyImage IPB

Star
Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Image IPB

Star
Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords or possible in

Dragon
Age: Origins. Where you are almost always saving the girl. I am so glade Ashley is not like that ( I hope Bioware does not change her.)

Hey everyone, been slightly busy/lacking opinions for a while, but I have a moment so I wanted to say congrats to all of us for making it to 100+ pages. The recent screens and fan drawings have been awesome, and hopefully we'll get to 1000 in no time :D

I'm glad that so many others view her the way I do! :-) I think in my game Cerberus should rebuild her the way they did me!
I also find her a very valuable squaddie as I play sentinel a lot or infiltrator as my two fave classes, so there is always a place for her iyswim?

Ok think it has been a little while since we have used a topic from the Official Topic List.

"If the same power system is in ME3, what kind of powers would Ashley have?"

I see Ashley having the Immunity Ability in ME3, I want to see her (tank) defeat a Geth Colossus with this ability.

Immunty, she'd better. If she can shake off Collector paralysis, she can have Immunity as a power, dangit! Also, having her in your party should give damage bonuses to all squad weapons. She should also have a "Boomstick" ability where she can fire off a shot or series of shots (depending on its progression) from a heavy weapon of her own.

I love the idea of a "Boomstick" ability - something more attuned to her character than her class.  Most of the Soldier abilities/bonus powers are kind of bland, IMO.  I could also see her having something like Grunt's fortification or some sort of squad shield boost because she is such a veritable tank in ME1.

I think instead of a Damage bonus (seeing how Miranda has it) She could have a Squad Damage protection  i.e. boost to shields and armor or decrease incoming damage.

wow ok that would be really OP, Miranda Squad base damage increase and Ashley Squad base damage protection.

Really, though, if anyone else in the squad is going to use heavy weapons, it would absolutely be Ash, boomstick or no boomstick.;)

That kinda ties into the whole "Don't worry Shepard, I'll protect you" line if you think about it.=]

I know what you mean. When I play as anything but a soldier class, my Shepard almopst has to sit out the entire fight, just to stay alive, so I need *someone* around who I know is going to be able to get some actual fighting done. Ashley does that job pretty well.

Lol, I find her vital because I just don't get much from playing soldier class, I did a run through in ME just to unlock assault rifles for my Shepards! Though tbh, I have fallen in love with the ME2 sniper rifles (particularly the Viper) So apart from when I had other team mates for the achievements my party always needed Ash and Kaidan, I like the way they chatted together in lifts it was real friendly banter between them.

Well I always play soldier and don't use the biotics even when I have them (okay barrier, but it's like a shield plus thing)  I think she would have to have use of all the weapons!  It would be nice if someone else could also handle those heavy guns shooting at things from both sides... yes that would be cool ... Adding hit points the the squad, I certainly hope so... and of course special ammo... But that boom thing, that sounds really cool!!!

I wonder how the reuinon will work in ME3 for ash?

Since I just finished my INfiltrator run, I can imagine him sneaking up behind her and saying something witty. Right before she slugs him for doing that of course. I hope it goes well, but knowing the course Bioware is helming I doubt we will get a very long reunion.

My guess is it will be awkward at first but then they will click right back into place.

Power List:

Concussive Shot

Incendiary Ammo

Passive

Immunity (Or maybe a version of Overkill)
