Hi there everybody,
time for me to come in again with the Ashley lovers and say hello *wave*
I want to jump on the topic, whether Ash will make a prominent appearance in ME3 or not, and alas I'm clearly in the pessimist camp.
I've been turning this topic in my head since I first finished ME2 and tried to figure out how BW will connect ME3 to the two predeccesors. As far as my own conclusions go, not any of the love-sick fan's of ME will be very pleased with the beginning of ME3. In my POV it just does not make any sense to have Shepard pursuing a romace from the start of the ME3 story, it doesn't fit to the story arc.
I do think, Shep will get seperated from his crew somehow to enable the story to progress in a different way than it did in ME2. There may be missions towards the middle of the game to rescue some of your crew, from which point any romance can continue/start off. This would be the earliest point in the game, when Ash could make a re-appearance.
The whole plot will need a time to pick you up from the end of ME2 towards the final confrontation with the Reapers, I doubt BW writers will give a lot of room for the romances.
Once the stage is set for the final confrontation I can see a romance scene where the LI asks Shepard what his plans are if they survive and you can choose between 2 or 3 endings with your LI.
I really lost some faith by thinking it over, that Ash will have a role as a squadmate, and that we will get the opportunity to delve deeper into her personality and our relationsship. ME1 set the story up, ME2 introduced the squad and ME3 will feature the final story climax.
And, as sad as it is ... as long as they show Tali's face to the talimancer crowd the outrage in the forums will be bearable for BW, whatever they choose to do with the other LI's

Just to make it clear: I still believe there is a chance Ash will be featured in ME3, but I can only see her returning towards the last third of the game, after Shepard managed to rebuildd his ties with the Alliance. If this happens the Virmire survivor will return to the Normandy, maybe as squadmate or maybe even just as a kind of communications officer. I doubt there will be a lot of conversation available. Shepard will get the chance to re-kindle the relation, though and when it's time for the love scene we will get it ... but I doubt there will be a lot of indepth conversation, seing Ash's sisters and whatnot invloved ... sad but true
