I would say that, after the much-hyped dark edginess of ME2, ME3 should be a relatively cake and roses affair as far as the general tone goes, barring some awkwardness as Shepard has to account for any shifty actions taken during ME2 and the heroic sacrifice I expect someone will have to make in order to finally defeat the Reapers (there will be one: just not sure who.)

I've heard about all the stuff - including the Shep-related stuff - from Retribution, and nothing seemed to be ruled out: it was just an excuse to get Shepard out of the way so that they wouldn't have to explain what exactly had gone on with the Collector thing, which would've required them to stray overmuch into canon-setting territory.

Yeah, enough with this "dark second chapter" stuff.

Okay, time to put a new topic up for people to be talking about:

Supposing she had never met Shepard and had spent her whole life just doing simple military assignments for the Alliance, do you think Ashley could settle for a relationship with an ordinary person who isn't enlisted in the military or would he have to be as action ready as Ash to even consider keeping up?

On the one hand I would say that Ash would need someone just as strong as her alongside if she was going to be in a serious committed relationship, hence why in her email to her sister she mentioned kind of having a 'thing' for one of the soldiers that was leaving.
I would suspect that she would want someone else who was strong and could look out for themselves, especially if she was to spend long periods of time separated from them because of ground side assignments.
But at the same time part of me suspects that if her family name had never been disgraced in the first place she might still pursue a military career but she wouldn't force herself into it as much and would be capable of a normal relationship or at least a steady relationship with someone who wasn't military.

Though her family probably wouldn't approve.

Still, what does everyone else think?

Why would her family not approve?

I think as far as relationships go, Ash doesn't have a lot of relationships and when she does they're not that serious. I also tend to think those relationships would probably be with people NOT in the military, or at the very least not directly involved in her career in any way. Her career is important to her so I can't see her dating some guy in her unit or even someone she interacts with on a daily basis.

What was the deal with that James guy? I forget.

I suppose part of me still thinks that given her family is very big on impressive military records they might think she was 'lowering the bar' if she picked as a mate someone who was more along the lines of an artist rather than a soldier.
Still that was just a theory, hence why I said they 'might'.

I think it was just some guy she thought was cute.  I don't think anything was going on.

Scroll down for email.

It's part of the marketting I think, it was her email record.

Look up her page on the Mass Effect wiki, it's there. I myself am not sure where in the game it is implimented or even if it is, but it's there regardless.

It happens before the game.  Her sister tells her to "go for" a guy in her unit on Eden Prime, to which Ash points out frat regs and how she's not inclined to break them.  I think it just shows up on the ME website as a teaser for the game, of sorts.

the Reapers are coming...Shep dosen't have the COncil, the Alliance, the asari, turian and salarian as a support...i would say it's pretty dark...given the info form the novel...i wanna see ME3 starting with u controling someone else other then SHep...and then eventually u will come to cotrol SHep...and who better to begin with then Ash/Kaidan

I think ME3 will start like Dragon age, we will spend most of the game recruiting a army. Alliance or Cerberus, Quarian or Geth ect.

I cant see us starting as anyone other than Shepard. Tbh I cant see us being anyone else in the whole game, but they did do it with Joker in ME2 so who knows. As long as Ash is in my squad, Bioware dont ruin her personality, or romance sub-plot, i'm happy.

Also, I've noticed that whenever I'm in a thread that's talking about what ME3 squad mates we'll get, everyone always just assumes liara and A/K is all but guaranteed a spot.

I find that very odd.

Probably because of Bioware's little ''They are not in ME2 becuase they have to survive the suicide mission'' statement, I suspect they was just lazy, the half assed reunion in ME2 was evidence enough.

Bioware did say they were saving Ash, Kaidan , and Liara for ME3. So everyone assumes that means on the squad. I have never heard anyone at bioware say that they would be on the squad. Till bioware actually says something . We just dont know.

Ash is worth it.

I agree, though as always I remain optimistic.

They did say something about Ash/Kaidan being an "important and integral part of the story".

Whatever that means in Bioware speak ...

Not much since "choices will matter" only came to be emails or craptastic cameos.
Besides Wrex's of course.

I do have to wonder how "important and integral" two characters can be when from the get-go they were considered interchangeable. /rage

What? You didn't  like an epic two minute,  cross-eyed cameo with Ash/Kaidan. Shocking.  Posted Image

Maybe in ME3 we'll get four minutes, 'cause, you know, "integral" and stuff.

Hey all I was thinking about embedding the Horizon Meeting on the OP. I would look like the following.

Think I should added it like this or leave it the way it is?
