@epoch_, Lord Zeuss, and ashlover mark 2 great pictures as always.

@darknoon5 if you have nothing to add about Ashley I suggest you either post in the OT (link im my Sig or OP) or go to another thread. This section will not have the same taint as your other tread that was closed (you know which one I am talking about.)

Wait, what?

How is posting random pictures of Ashley and nothing else adding "anything about ashley?"

Stop acting mod. There is no discussion here, just random pictures, I wouldn't spam a thread that was going anywhere.

Now I'll discuss Ashley instead of posting lame pictures:

Do you think there's any possibility here and Kaidan could've/would've ever got in a relationship? It seems unlikely to me, but it'd be interesting to see what other people think.

So Ash fans, I know a lot of us were upset by Ashleys extremely limited role in ME2. So after playing it for awhile now, have you just gotten used to it, and accepted it? Or does it still really bug you?

Well it still really bugs me. I don't feel the carry over of ME1 into ME2 really amounted to much. Not really. Defiantly not were Ash was concerned. So it bugged me at the start , it bugs me even more now. How about you, Ash fans.

Nah...Kaidan is too i dunno passive...and Ash had a hard time with SHep..cause he is superior officer...but with Kaidan there would be no relationship

and yea...i am annoyed Ash got so litlle time in ME2 i hope a loot more in ME3 to compensate...she didn't even do that much in ME2..beside getting attacked by bugs and beeing upset at Shep

It still bugs me, I have gotten more used to it, but thats only becuase I hope it leads to something big in ME3, Bioware did promise us Ash has a important role in ME3, I hope that was sincere and not just lazyness talking though.

I do enjoy the leading up to the suicide mission with Shepard looking at Ashleys picture, it shows Shepard is human, he has feelings, and this is the only scene in the game (excluding Overlord ending) where Shepard actually opens up, and seems vulnerable, it also gives him a personal stake to fight, something to come back alive too, So i'm glad for that.

I do hate the Horizon cameo, we deserved better than that Bioware, but it does makes me respect Ashley's character even more, she sticks to her guns, she has her own views and opinions and no matter how much she loves Shepard, she will not work for a terrorist organisation. And kudos to Kimberly Brooks for her awsome voice work, we need a hell of alot more of it in ME3, please Bioware! Posted Image

I alternate between being irritated with her role in ME2 and mollified by the belief that Bioware really was limiting the role of the ME1 LIs for a good reason. That being said, I will most certainly not continue to be a staunch supporter of Bioware's good intentions if Ashley doesn't have a significant role in ME3.

Also, and this may just be the girly side of me that can't help loving terrible romantic comedies talking, I feel like the entire misunderstanding on Horizon and the Shepard's refusal to pursue other love interests that culminates in his staring at Ash's picture before the Omega 4 relay creates a most excellent atmosphere of star-crossed lovery that my inner teenager cannot wait to see resolved.

I alternate between being annoyed at the lack of Ash in ME2 and being mollified by Bioware's assertions that they kept her out of the action in order to keep her from being killed and thus, unavailable for ME3.  I really want to believe that she'll have an important role in ME3.  If my hopes are dashed however, my love and faith in Bioware are going to take a real hit.

Still (and this is probably just the girly part of me that can't help loving terrible romantic comedies full of heartrending misunderstandings talking), I have to confess that a part of me loves the stupid fight on Horizon, and Shepard's need to resist all LI advances in ME2 that culminates in his gazing at Ash's picture before heading through the Omega 4 relay.  There's just something so star-crossed-lover-ish about it that it makes me feel vaguely teary-eyed each time.  Of course it also makes me wildly impatient for ME3.  I need this situation resolved, stat!

Edit:
Sorry about the double post...I blame the terrible internet connection.

I actually think, if there was chemistry in the beginning, that it could have happened. I really don't think Kaidan's passive personality would have necessarily been a detriment, as I think Ash's aggressiveness more than makes up for it, and she doesn't need an aggressive man in her life. I mean, Kaidan is very much like Paragon Shepard, only milder more level-headed, and if Ashley only went for more aggressive or even Renegade Shepards, then Bioware wouldn't have implemented romance dialogue with her for paragon responses, and I personally favor the more paragon Shepard's dialogue in romance options over the neutral or Renegade romance dialogue.

Anyway I guess what I'm saying is that Kaidan and Ashley didn't really have chemistry to begin with (though Kaidan gets stumbly sometimes in the off-conversations with Ash in different contexts). The other thing is that pretty much the Eden Prime beacon accident started the light attraction Ash has for Shepard, as he "saved" (used quotations because she wasn't in any real danger of getting killed) her.

I was somewhat let down by the lack of Ash in ME2, I know that when I bought the game and played the first time, I was hoping to spend more time with her. The Horizon chat really felt like a bit of a slap for me, but I was proud of how Ash stodd up for herself and her values. The email afterwards was a nice touch, hinting at things for ME3 I guess. The scene where he looks at her photo before hitting Omega-4 to me is very realistic, it shows the human side of him. Since he didn't cheat, it also has a deeper meaning I like to believe.

Anyhow, I am holding onto the hope that Ash has a nice big role in ME3, and that her and Shep sort their issues out. Knowing BioWare, it's not likely to be too easy or straightforward, but it should be rewarding and worth it. To me, their romance is the star crossed lovers who have a great destiny type thing. After all, even death couldn't keep them apart lol.

Not to mention the trailers, and the screen shot before ME2 came out mislead me to believe that there was atleast a story arc for her. I was like 'alright, let's see where this love story goes," and Horizon happend, I was like 'okay, maybe she is at the Citadel, she said she was reporting back" but alas she can't be found. I thought my game had a glitch until I saw the the email.

But yeah, quite a disappointment for ME2.

I did point out my opinion on the Horizon encounter a few times in this thread (meaning that Shepard was acting weird, not Ashley), but to answer the question above its grating more and more on my nerves.

How can Shepard just say "Ok Joker, pick us up, I have enough from this colony" ... how can he? At the end of the confrontation with his beloved Ash? I mean he acts, as if he was happy she finally left and stopped nagging him .. I was so p*****sed, and I am more so by each playthrough.

Actually, I made a new ME1 playthrough, with a no-romance Shepard, just to be able to keep playing ME2 and not getting overly p*****sed by the Horizon scene. But even this Shepard never romances one of the new crew members ..

But then, I have less hope to see a nicely resolved lovestory with Ash and Shepard for each week passing. I really lost my faith in BioWare to give us fans of the first installment what we would all like to see most: a coherent story arc, where the actions of the first game have actual consequences in the lasat game. And as ME2 will now be published on another platform - without the possibility that ME1 will be published on said platform as well - alas, I see our chances even more dwindling.

@Kacynski you know, I was going to mention the PS3 port news, and for some reason I decided against it. Apprehension, maybe, but then you did, and expressed your opinion on that, and I feel less worried to bring it up now.

Honestly, I have no idea what plans around a middle-of-series introduction for PS3 players means for Kaidan and Ashley as far as involvement goes. I really don't know what to believe. On one hand, I still trust Bioware to come through for the end of the series and give closure to all ME1 romances, as it is the end of the series, but on the other hand, I see posts on other threads with people fearing the worst, saying that ALL ME1 choices will probably be null and void because ME1 wasn't available on one platform.

I mean, what do the rest of you think? Do you believe Ash could be at risk of being written down even more so, despite Bioware saying that certain characters were put aside because of future importance in ME3?

I have no problem with Ashley's role in ME2, but only because BioWare pretty much promised a much more significant return in ME3. We'll just have to see. If Ashley isn't in my heart and by my side in ME3, well, you guys continue...

Cute pictures, too! :)

As it stands, from a character standpoint I wasn't angry at Ashley's reaction to Shepard on Horizon. it worked great as a way of showing the moral ambiguity of the situation, especially if this is between two people who once loved, and perhaps instead still do love, each other.

However I am royally mad that this is all I got. Three minutes of a cameo and then one email (why only an email Bioware, you do realize most people just overlook those) does kind of make me angry. I mean yes the email was a good example of writing (even if it was hell to read, my TV is NOT high def so unless I squint all I get is blurs) and it helped characterize Ash in the right light but still to have her otherwise be completely booted out of the game with next to zero acknowledgment from the rest of the cast does irk me.

It's helped a bit by seeing Shepard stare longingly at her picture but still it annoys me because I had always looked upon her as the leading lady of the franchise and she's not even a meetable NPC in the game.

It's only made worse by a continuing lack of attention by DLC and general plot connection.

Still, Bioware promised that the reason that Ash/Kaidan weren't in the picture was so that they couldn't be killed off for some future role in Mass Effect 3. I sincerely hope that is true.

My gut says any character whose last name is not T'soni is severe danger of cameosis. "Importance" does not necessarily translate to "more than a cameo", nothing I'vev heard so far offers direct evidence that this is not the case.

The pessimistic in all of us will always question whether or not Ash/Kaidan will play a decent role in future ME content, but I am still convinced that the writers had bigger plans for Ash/Kaidan, Liara, and Anderson from the very beginning.
These characters have been protected since ME1.  Ash/Kaidan being one entity here.  Some might look at Liara's role as either more important then most because of the announced DLC, but I honestly believe that the Shadowbroker stuff is gap filler.  In my opinion, it has always been planned and probably won't expand on any love interest story beyond the token check to see if she is your LI during the DLC.  I believe most of the content will be treated to accommodate the player either way (LI or not).
Ash/Kaidan, Liara, and Anderson will all have bigger roles in ME3, along with a "slot" for the LI of choice.  If that happens to be an ME1 character then so be it, but if it is, it will be in addition to the importance they will play in the storyline with a neutral Shepard.

Just my opinion of course. :)

Well its good to see that the PS3 news and implications haven't phased this group :)

I'll just have to wait and see myself what happens. I was surprised by all the changes from ME1 to ME2 because I hadn't kept up with fan reacton/development statuses, so I'm going into ME3 expecting anything.

It's not really a question to me anymore.
