Why does it look like Shep just let one rip, and Ash and Kai are both not trying to laugh at their CO?

Also awsome SS by the way.

Heh, it does kind of look like that.

@Badpie - I hear you; Ash becoming another Shepard-worshipper would be gosh-awful. That just wouldn't be right, and it would completely out of line with her character.

How can Ash become as Shep worshiper, two of my sheps already worship her?

What if ashley DID rejoin your sqaud in ME2? How do you think the romantic story would have played out, and would Ashley's abondonment of the Alliance to join Cerberus have changed your opinion of her?

(snip)

That being said there are things I will be very disappointed with in ME3 if they should come to pass. One is:
She apologized in her email, rightfully.  She said hurtful things, but I will be angry if she turns into another Shepard worshipper in ME3, taking the entire fault for the way Horizon played out because Shepard can do no wrong.  Shepard should be apologizing too.  He didn't exactly say...well ANYTHING right (again, crappy writing, but that's too meta of me right now).

(snip)

Just quoting your middle paragraph, Badpie, because I think it's a very important point. Ash already apologized, and Shepard didn't say anything even close to apologizing to her. If in ME3 he's acting as jerky as he was on Horizon and Ash is still wanting him back then - well I don't know, I would have to first eat me keyboard and then replay ME1+2 _without_ romancing Ash.

I really, really hope the writers follow this thread here, because so much of Ash personality and the nature of the Shep-Ash romance is pointed out in these very postings. I hope they take some inspiration and keep Ash as we like her: strong, self determined, witty and just badass awesome. I she turns into a Shepard fangirl and behaves in a way like Liara in ME1 or Tali in ME2 (nothing wrong with that for these two, because in was in character for them), then well I don't know, but maybe it would ruin the entire series for me.

Saying this, I don't think there was any chance Ashley would have joined Shepard on Horizon. I can't see a way of this happening and keeping Ash's character consistent. I even think Ash should join Shepard in ME3 only if he broke up with Cerberus at the end of ME2. If he went fully renegade and is Timmy's best buddy, well - no way Ash should want him back. (But then I think most people who did a full renegade play, wouldn't keep up a romance anyway between Ash and this respective Shepard of theirs).

Edit:
As I take it as a given, that there will be romance sub-plots in ME3, I do think the whole restoration of the Ash-Shep romance should take as much room as lets say the development of a complete new romance. I would be quite dissapointed if the conflict which culminated on Horizon was solved in just one conversation. I would love if Ash wouldn't even really want to talk to Shepard about their feelings and would much more react to certain actions of him. She could then, after a while, conclude that Shepard is still the same person she fell in love with and _then_ start to talk about their feelings and their relationship. That would be much more in character for her, I think.

That verse from Ulysses - "one equal temper of heroic hearts ..." - is my favorite in the entire poem. It better get used in ME3! You hear me, BioWare?! I like the passages they've chosen thus far, but that closing verse... I always found it very apt for the Ash and Shepard relationship as I view them to be equals is so many respects, going back to what Badpie was saying about the fear of her becoming yet another Shepard-worshipper earlier. IMO, it just "works" for them so well - I guess that's why I've used it in my fic a couple times now.

One equal temper of heroic hearts,

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield....

I really hope/wish this too.  And I agree that it would totally assassinate her character for me.

Silver, I love that bit.  :P

And I've always seen them as equals too.  Not in the professional sense surely, but I think they balance each other out well.  In ME1, even my Paragon John sometimes argued with her.  When she mentioned "kowtowing" to the Council, etc, it made him angry and they had kind of a spirited discussion.  There's no other character you can have "discussion" with.  It's all "this is this"  "yes this is this" etc.  Ash was able to question Shepard and Shepard was able to put Ash in her place about some things.  It was a balance.  And I liked that.

Here's a topic to start this thread up again for another day:

Do you think Ash is the kind of person who would appreciate 'romantic gestures' and if so, what do you think they would be?

Personally I can't really see Ashley squealing with delight at a box of chocolates or jewelry but I still reckon she would be receptive to certain gestures. Not necessarily gifts.

I reckon she would appreciate a reading of the works of Tennyson and, possibly, a trip to some kind of exotic place. As people have pointed out before, Ash is more the kind of person who likes moments rather than things.

But still that's my opinion. What sayeth the rest of the group?

well i guess it depends on the romantic gesture no ? a box of chocolate in the ME universe dosen't sound interesting...a readin of poetry given Ashley's nterest sounds good..wonder if she likes looking at stars on a clear night if she's on a planet..:D

Of course she would. And I see no reason why she wouldn't like gifts too. Who doesn't? She's still a woman with feelings. (And an intelligent and beautiful woman at that. But I'm sure y'all know that. ^_^)

If the Liara DLC is any good, I hope that the next one will feature Ashley. I would totally buy it. And if it's bad, I hope your favorite character will not be treated the same.

Hello! Showing Ashley support. After reading Tennyson poems, I've decided she has good taste. And her personality is pretty awesome. I like hearing her in squad banter.

Hey! It's always great to have more people spreading the Ash love Posted Image

Yes, I love her and her fathers taste in poetry, but I would also love to hear Ashley recite Robert Heinlein's "Cool Green Hills of Earth." that she was originally supposed too, along with the Tennyson, and Whitman poems ofcourse.

Here is the link to the poem if you haven't read it:

Everyone likes gifts, and I'm sure Ash does, she likes Shepards chat-up lines but makes fun of him for how corny they are ''Tell me thats from a fortune cookie?'' ''You are totally shameless, you need you're own line of greetings cards'' So I think she would love a gift from Shepard, but she will laugh about it, while noticing the gesture is a small way of him showing he loves her.

Ash would probably like any romantic gift, I can actually see Shepard (trying) to recite poetry to her, and failing miserably, and Ash would love it.

I also think Ash loves "romantic gestures". I do think, though, a very expensive present would ruin her day. Can't see her screaming in excitment over a big diamond ring.

The kind if gestures Ash likes are most probably (imho) things like a pos-it on the bathroom mirror with some hand drawn stickman of her and Shepard, which he placed there early morning because he had togo on duty before her. Or some tickets for a concert, theatre, cinema .. you know some time they can spend together.

I do also think Ash would be particularly fond of traveling to some interesting, exotic places and she wouldn't refuse a relaxing week at some first class Spa (just remember her food massage line ...) - although I think Shepard would die if he had to spend a week at a Spa :)

You pretty much summed up what I had in my mind. Ash would secretly enjoy something like a box of chocs, but she would sass Shep about it. I can also see her wanting to enjoy off time on an exotic planet. Ash has been to many planets, but I don't think any of them have been peacefully exotic.

I reckon she would enjoy the spa thing with Shep, and my one would do it for her, though he may not really enjoy it. So long as they can go to a nudist beach afterwards, just the 2 of them lol. Somehow, I don't think either of them is particualarly concerned about it. Or perhaps they go to a picnic somewhere in the mountains above the spa. Either way, Ash would enjoy it.

New topic! I think we should discuss what we would want from Alliance DLC, instead of just saying we should have it in the name of ME1 LI parity.

So here's my idea: Specters Of The Alliance

(I will use Ashley as an example, but in practice it would be either Ashley or Kaidan, depending on player choice in ME1)

Post-suicide mission, Shepard receives an email from Ashley, asking to meet on the Citadel, in the back alley by the markets (deliberate call-back) where they can talk in private. *Cue romance-specific dialogue* She asks Shepard about his current relationship with Cerberus. Depending on player choice during suicide mission, Shep answers that they are working for him now (saved Collector base) or he is finished with them for good (destroyed Collector base). Ashley then tells him that the Alliance intercepted a transmission from the Omega-4 relay which they traced to what seems to be an abandoned Collector outpost in the Terminus Systems. Anderson needs her to investigate the base for any possible evidence of a Reaper connection that they can take and show to Alliance brass.

Ashley rejoins your squad for the mission.

The Collector outpost is overrun by scavenging mercenaries, approach base by Hammerhead (which has been given a HUD). Fight your way into the base, at a convenient time stop and examine a Collector corpse. Have conversation with Ashley, emphasizing the Reaper connection. You find no pertinent evidence, so continue on. More fighting with mercenaries, encounter husks. Again emphasize Reaper connection, and/or importance of Cerberus (Para/Rene dialogue). *Cue more romance-specific dialogue if you took the correct dialogue choice during the first*

Mercenary radio traffic indicates something has come awake. Encounter a Praetorian in the control center guarding the main computer. Take it out and have another conversation. Scan the main computer to obtain *REAPER TECH!!!!!!* and debate whether or not to give it to Cerberus (Para/Rene choice; save it for the Alliance for Paragon choice and preserve your relationship with Ashley, or give it to Cerberus for Renegade choice and destroy the romance).

More radio traffic. The Praetorian wasn't what the mercenaries found, it was a small hive of Collectors beneath the base, which now swarm through and threaten to cut off your escape. Fight your way through to the Hammerhead and get to safe distance while Joker takes a few shots with the Normandy's main gun, conveniently destroying the base and any Collectors still inside.

Back to Citadel for final conversation and romance-specific dialogue. Setup for epic return in ME3.

One problem; without Harbinger; the Collectors wouldn't be doing anything. They wouldn't have anyone giving them orders.

yea..i like the idea except what Indigo said...the collectors don't seem to do anything without orders..and since Harbringer let them die on the COllector Base i assume they are now on their own..

Well the idea itself is simple and it works...i just wish there is more then just...talk...destroy..talk some more destroy...well ok as long as there is Ash in there i would be satisfied

To follow that line of reasoning, the thorian creepers experimented upon by ExoGeni wouldn't have gone berzerk, which they clearly did.
