Yeah, I don't really see them as referring to each other as any of the above, but Chief and Skipper, those seem like good enough terms of endearance.
I actually reckon Ash would be slightly annoyed if Shepard called her 'sweetie', especially if he said that in public.

I just want to say WITH NO SPOILERS for LotfSB that if there ends up being dlc that is Ash related I hope it is like this. They did a great job with Liara's character. That is all.
Don't forget, NO SPOILERS. But I just wanted to say that I enjoyed it very much and really got me thinking of possibilities (and the soul crushing probability that those possiblities will only ever exist in my mind).

I just love how the whole setup went for the Liara romance, it left it wide open for ME3. i want something like this for Ash and Kaidan if only to not go into ME3 on bad terms.

I haven't played LotSB yet, but from what I've heard from others, I am strongly in the camp that BioWare will - nay, has to - provide some bridging DLC to clear the air with Ash and Kaidan. It only makes sense. Even if people aren't interested in the romance content (weirdos), there are still a lot of people interested in the sudden rift with the Alliance and the exploration of the Alliance-Cerberus ties. It would be a perfect venue to wrap up those storylines or at least provide some more detail heading into the final chapter, imo.

I hope with Liara's DLC finished, there will be more support for some DLC featuring Ashley and Kaidan.
And I also wasn't a Liara fan, but the DLC was absolutely fantastic. I hope DLC of this high-quality gets made for our favourite ME1 human squaddies.

Loved the DLC, but I'm still a little sad. Ash was my love interest in ME1, remained faithful still, and after playing the DLC, I really wish BioWare makes the next DLC about Ashley (if you know what I mean). Everyone who had Liara as their love interest before got treated really well in this DLC...
