After he comes back though, I could see the day being one she'd remember and reflect upon, like a scar from an old wound, but I don't think she would get very emotional about it now that he's back. She'd no longer have a reason to mourn him.

Her love of poetry because of her dad, always recalling fond memories of her sisters and their escapades, things of that nature lead me to believe that she wouldn't forget Shepard.

I'm sure she would have marked it, too, but I can't really say how she would have taken it.

That's an interesting question indeed, VRex.

True, there are a number of ways Ash could have taken it, she is a realistic, complex character, she may have many conflicting feelings on the day, and in Ash fashion she would probably ponder the thought that it might be her fault (ofcourse it's not but Ash has a tendency to blame herself) She may just spend the day to celebrate the life and time she spent with Shepard. With a character as great as Ash, who knows tbh.

BTW: Do you think Ash would ever wear her hair down while in uniform?

I view Ash as very sentimental, so I think she would have a drink in memory of Shepard on that day. Although, I'm sure it would change if Shep was with her.

My first impression of Ashley from ME1 was extremely pro-human like Preston was.(*I'm not going to say the R word*) She later opened up to Fem Shepard a lot & even accepted the non-human crew members. I just couldn't believe that she didn't want to hear an explaination about what really was going on with the collectors. She hated Cerberus so much just she couldn't believe Shepard.
In a war, your alliances can change to persue a greater threat. She just didn't see it at the time. I wonder if she will have to see the Reapers (coming to Jesus moment) before she understands Shepard was right. The Alliance covered everything up about what Shepard was doing to not have the general public to panic. I really hope she becomes a crew member for ME3. Just like old times Shepard one more of the original crew

If she didn't have to follow hair regs, I'd say so.
Something free-flowing, whether short or long.

The Phoenix armor is her signature look, of course, but I think something a little more... kick ass, would be called for. Perhaps she would be (re)introduced to us (and especially the noobs) in some awesome cut scene.
I don't think Alliance military has a standard combat hardsuit. Sure, the Normandy's marines wore Onyx, but NPCs on the field (Kahoku's men, for example) had just about anything on. Perhaps the devs should (re)establish a new, cool "in combat" look for whatever branch of Alliance military Ash currently serves in? With not too many blinking lights, please!

If she was included in a future dlc pack, I would assume she would get an "upgrade" of sorts. Probably wouldn't stray away from her original look too much (the bun would stay, although they might be able to move it to a top-knot), and I imagine the armor might change in a small way.
Let's hope we get to see something to talk about.

Ow keep the bun the way it is! I said it once and I will say it again, Ashley Williams bun is the stuff of legends. I would like her to let her hair down in ME3 for the love scene, but keep the bun the way it is during everything else.
In dlc she may get a upgrade like Liara had, and yes they probably wouldn't stray to far from her original look, but a new armor would certanly be nice, the pheonix armor looks good on Ash and only on Ash, but I feel she deserves her own unique armor.

Do you think the anniversary of Shepard's death would be a profoundly emotional day for Ashley to reflect upon, and if so how do you think she would cope on the first anniversary of the day Shepard died with Shepard now alive and well beside her?
Personally, I think that if she felt 'obligated' to remember Armistice Day because of her family history and the general shame there in, I reckon that the anniversary of Shepard's death would be something she would remember or simply be unable to forget. But that she might have forced herself to do so.
However, I do still think it would be quite a strange emotional moment for her if the day came and Shepard was standing alongside her. That last year she was mourning the man she loved and now here he is standing beside her.
Personally I think that she would either:
A. Be much more vulnerable due to the emotional power of this situation.
B. Spend the day being much more defensive and maybe even solitary in order to hide any signs of emotional weakness.
I can't decide which of those two is more likely. But still, that's just my opinion on this matter... what's yours?
I think it would be an emotional day for her. After all she went through two of them before she saw Shepard alive again. Mainly I think it would just be a somber day. No dwelling, but still being reverent. I can see the first anniversary being a real turning point in her life, kind of a last reflection before she makes the determined decision to move on with her life and let it go.
Then of course the second anniversary might have been sad for her but not nearly as terrible as the first. She might have even felt good afterward. Maybe she expected to crumble and be a mess on that day but wasn't. Maybe she was finally happy with how her life was moving forward. ...And then Anderson calls her in for a chat to tell her Shepard might be alive. And she's probably then immediately back to day one. Ah the emotional rollercoaster that is caring about Shepard.
EDIT: Raanz! That's awesome!
As for the Ash hair down in uniform thing, I don't think so. I think she's all marine when she's in uniform and leaving her hair unsecured would feel like she forgot her bra or something. Just not right. Civilian clothes? I'd guess she'd wear it down whenever possible. But not in uniform. Gets in the way.

I've always seen her more as a close quarters scrapper myself. Perhaps because of her fiery personality?
Would be fun, if they gave her something similar to Grunt's melee skills, when equipped with a shotty. Not as powerful, perhaps, considering she isn't a Krogan. But something more aggressive than how Jacob and Jack, the supposed Vanguards fight.
