I just can't take it anymore...

Heh, I just heard another Ash quote I've never heard before, I usualy take Ash and Kaidan out on missions, but for some reason, I never did for Feros, I did this time and I just heard this:

Kaidan: ''Looks like the Geth are settling in nicely.''

Ashley: ''Doesn't matter. We're their eviction notice.''

*gasps for breath* That should hold me over for the next for weeks...

I love that quote! Ash has hands down the best quotes in any game I have ever played!

Also I think we could do with more pics of the ever so lovely Chief Williams :D:wub:

I hope she get's her own new armor in ME3, or ME2 Ash/Kaidan dlc, I want something unique to her, the Pheonix armor looks good on her, but it's about time Ash got something new, her own unique look.

Agreed.  I like the Phoenix armor on her, but it's been with her for two games.

I threw my controller across the room when I met Ash in ME2. I even got more upset on Illuim.

Well I have both Shep's, one female and one male, one for Kaidan and one for Ash.

Needless to say that my femShep with Kaidan is only for educational purposes, because the man is really a embarrassment.
Specially at the end of the love scene in ME1.

But back to Horizon, worst of all is the same line and reaction from both male/female Shepard, wich disappointed me a lot.
The e-mails you receive from Ashley/Kaidan are a lot different from each other, but why Shepard reaction has to be the same?

Man and women don't react the same way when dealing with emotions.

But yeah, I stopped the game for 10 minutes after Horizon, I was so p.iss off you can't imagine.
Then for crowing things there was Illium after that.

Bioware sure tried to kill us with deception. :crying:

Well, if Bioware couldn't even be bothered to differentiate the body language between genders, why would they alter emotional reactions? Would've been nice, though...I wish I could've hugged Ashley as my femShep. Nothing weak about showing a little affection just because we're not banging buddies. I never get to hug who I want!

I was disappointed by the whole Horizon thing, but not really shocked. I got into this series not too long ago; previews of ME2 piques my interest, so I went and got the original to see what I was missing. I already knew Ash/Kaiden were not reprising their roles as squadmates, and it wasn't as though I was waiting months and months only to find that out. I figured when I finally did meet up with Ash, I was going to get a little story about how Ash wouldn't come back.

Really, what bugged me the most was Shepard's responses...I realize what has to be done, and Ashley/Kaiden may be loyal to the Alliance to a fault, but I felt like I was talking down to her, and nobody likes that. Plus, as a Paragon, she probably thought me a huge sell-out.

...Am I the only one particularly annoyed by Miranda when brought to Horizon? "Typical Alliance attitude." Snort snort.  Shepard didn't exactly quit the Alliance, you know.

As for Ash's hair...I always did like her bun best. I realize you can't have hair all in your business in the Navy, but the hair-up do's for femShep always look so...painfully tight. And there's one that looks like she's wearing a tiny hair hat on the top of her head. I like Ashley's lower, slightly looser hairstyle.

Having it come down would be a cute touch for a continued romance, but frankly I wouldn't expect Bioware to take the details quite that far.

well Miranda at that time was still with Cerberus so her response is actually expected...it's not like what Ash said is not the alliance typical view on Cerberus...even though they are right....

But yea..Shep answers were so lame...i wanted to beat my Shep for what he said...oh well..the DLC must be made way better in terms of dialogue

I found it was in character for Miranda to be ****y at that point, especially to defend Cerberus, it's when Jacob says the exact same line "Pssh, typical Alliance attitude" for not trusting Cerberus that I thought "Wait, I thought -you- didn't trust Cerberus?"

The worst Shepard part I hate is the time when you're forced between saying "You're too emotional" and "I can see you won't listen to reason". Two awful, stupid things to say in that situation, and always dread the moment I know I'm going to be forced to try and pick the least bad option.

But it's worth it to get that Ash/Kai DLC in the end. Which will definitely happen. Definitely.

Yeah Shep looked like a idiot, I mean geez, the guy needs to work on his social skills, how did a guy like that become a commander and lead soldiers, if he cant even talk to the women he loves without speaking to her like she's a old friend from college.

I think that's Jacob's writing in general, no offense to him.

QFT.  Shepard's dialogue is derpy.
I sure hope you're right about DLC.  I am very, very hopeful, but very, VERY skeptical until there is an announcement.  But I sure hope you're right.

Kaidan's my favourite character.  But you're right about at the end of the love scene.
"You're a sweetheart, Kaidan."
"JOKER'S WAITING FOR YOU ON THE BRIDGE!"

Oh, I know it was completely in character for her...I just didn't like it. I wish my Shepard could've said, "No one is talking to you. This is between me and Williams." Of course, I'm not a big fan of Miranda period, so...

I never brought Jacob to Horizon. That's what he says? I'm a little disappointed, I thought he'd be a little nicer about it.

But yeah, "you're too emotional" and every related thing Shepard is able to say is just...terrible. Condescending. Everything about what Cerberus was doing could've been 100% right and it'd still be a hard pill to swallow with that kind of disposition. You'd think after all they've been through, he/she could be a little more sensitive. It's odd...having the option of asking the Illusive Man and Anderson where she (or Kaiden) is...and yet, when they finally do meet, it seems rather cold. Maybe Shepard cares more than he/she lets on. Or maybe that particular scene wasn't the best written.

I never romanced Liara myself, so when I saw that LotSB kiss with the lights bursting down...I got very jealous. I would very much like Virmire-Survivor DLC myself, even though I'm still a touch skeptical.

Well, the DLC Support Group is almost at 400 people now.

So that's pretty good!

Guys have friends who might want to join? Even if they don't want any, maybe just to show support for VS fans?

To whoever it was that said that it would be great to see more character development going Ashley/Kaiden's way in any form of upcoming DLC, I one hundred percent agree. In that regard I already have an idea of what that character development, for Ash at least, should be like:

.See, up until now she's had a very minor military career and has held her past as a reason to blame for that and now suddenly she's being given the chance in a big military operation to prove what she's got, however she is still being weighed down by the issues that plagued her past.

There is actually a major moment of character development in that game where Shepard does get into an argument with Ashley that ends with (this is optional by the way) Ashley accepting that she really needs to blame the Alliance, not the Council, for how her family name was treated and as a result is finally able to let the past be the past and not let it interfere with her future, and put her past prejudices to the side and now be able to push forward, self assured.

So essentially, Ashley's flaws and problems with the past is something she (potentially) overcomes in Mass Effect and moves forward and changes her worldview completely for the better, finally feeling confident and self assured and no longer suffering from her past feelings on inadequacy.

So yeah, what really dissapointed me was that Ashley returns to having a grudge against aliens in Mass Effect 2 and that it completely negates the entire point of her character arc in the original Mass Effect, that her distrust of aliens was just a shield to hide that deep down she resents her own army and that she needs to let the past be the past and not weigh her down.

So when she finally has that redemptive awakening, they suddenly just do away with it altogether. That really bothers me as it actually almost gives fuel to the fire of angry Ash haters out there who are convinced that the only reason Ashley dislikes aliens is because she thinks humans are the better race (or whatever their insane reasoning is).

I for one would like to see the new reformed Ash, perhaps no longer needing to push herself so hard and allowing herself to be more open with her feelings and more friendly towards people and of course, no longer having any prejudices and grudges and is now just pushing forward free of any sense of past inadequacy.

I mean this new 'reformed' Ash could easily find a way to not stick one hundred percent true to the Alliance and instead be more willing to do what she believes is right without being restrained by subsequent loyalties and feelings of duty towards certain factions holding her back. It has the potential to make her character come full circle.

I for one, do not want to see her just return to the original roots with no explanation and just get turned into a ridiculous caricature of what people with bad spelling and serious aggression issues keep labeling her as in youtube comments, I want to see her character arc fleshed out and given the air time that it properly deserves.

Also to the people ragging on Shepard for how he responded on Horizon:

Good show, honestly when he opened with 'Hey how's it going' I actually said, completely in sync with Ashley, "That's it?"

wow v-rex u are good for speeches...remind me to call u when i need help..:D

agreed...seeing Ashley in ME2 made me think all the dialogue in ME1 was for nothing...or..u don't think BW made Ash think aliens as a whole are responsible for SHep and a few crew members deaths.. ?that seems like the kind of explanation they would use to justify her behavior...

But on the side..i really don't see Ash beeing that much friendlier..she is military...and military usually keep to themselves...or at least that's what i experienced..:P

Would you like to post that in the DLC Wishlist? You've brought up a very valid point! And it's something that needs to be fixed.

What's your favorite comment that Ash makes? It can be from on the Normandy or from around the galaxy.

While I love a lot of her dialogue on the ship, the comment she makes at the Normandy's dock on the Citadel appeals to me a lot for some reason.

"This is quite the  view, Commander. It's so peaceful up here. Very romantic....If you're into that kind of thing." Posted Image
That was the moment I knew I wasn't going for Liara. :P

She had quite a few amusing lines throughout ME1. I recall having her on Therum, and she said "Dare you to spit out the side," as we went down the elevator. Then, at some point on Noveria, she said something like, "Try not to lick any poles."

Which reminds me! supersilkie.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2na27z

And to V-Rex...I do agree that the Horizon scene can feel like a step backwards, but considering she had about five minutes of screentime overall, it's hard to say. Feels like...a less than flattering snippet. Even if you Paragon'd her, she's still a ways away from loving everyone. Maybe Shepard's death set her back, or that any drive to improve herself was diminished by sadness and dedication to the Alliance.

I must say I agree with V-rex. Ash worked so hard, and maybe Ash did go a few steps back, but I don't think so much because on the Mass Effect 2 website, it states on Ash's profile that she has xenophobia. It's become one of her defining traits, and it's the cause of quite a bit of Ash bashing.

Can't write more, sorry, have to catch the bus.

I think the thing to consider is how short of an amount of time has passed since first contact. I mean, all of us here are pretty much in the camp that understands Ash's views on the situation. But after only 28 years she's not the only one who's gonna be thinking that way.

I always thought it was kinda silly how many players are willing to just ignore that fact. I mean, if we'd met aliens in 1980, we'd still be kinda reeling from that. I find it hard to believe that humanity would just accept all the ramifications super quickly.

Back on topic: My favorite line would have to be her response to Shepard's "Everyone has baggage..." line.  Playful smarminess is one of my favorite aspects of her character.

For me personally the best remark Ashley ever did was also the one we quote the most:

"Nothing like a nice relaxing stroll on the beach, blastin' bad guys with ma boomstick."

Seriously, that was the moment when Commander Shepard was smitten.

It's one of the best, yes. I cant say anyone is the best, she has such good qoutes!

This is one of my favourtes, it also tells us about Ashley idependence as a character, even if Horizon is bad, I'm glad Ash didn't kiss Shepards ass, becuase that would have been out of character, but the scene wasn't done good at all.

''I dont need money, a knight in shining armor or a man to make me happy, this is who i am....i like her *with a smile* and you best too''

This is when I realised how awsome a character Ash was though, I think you get this in the first conversation with her (on the Normandy that is).

Ashley: Thats when it struck me ''Im the first person who ever stood her'' then my drill instructor kicked me in the ass, he spent the next 20 minutes chewing me out for goldbricking.

Shepard: Dont tell me you had Gunney Ellison *laughs* he's the only person i know who uses that term to describe shirking duty.

Ashley: *giggles* Ow lord, you went to the Macapá boot camp too?

From then on, I knew Ash and Shepard had a bond.
