I find it strange that people spaz over Ashley being religious yet:
Thane and Samara run around shouting religious quotes in battle and you can talk to Thane about his religion outright.

Why do people not have a problem with them being religious?

I wonder about this too, probably just a reason to hate her. The same can be said with the hate on her for saying ''I cant tell the aliens from the animals'', when the very same people who hate on that call the Hanar Jellyfish, Asari tentical heads, and Thane frog boy.

Ah well I just ignore them, and all their rage/hate means nothing then.

I just go back and play with Ash, thats the easiest thing to do.

Misanthropy or some sort of self loathing? I can't quite peg it, but you are right. Goddamn furries, stinking up my fandom. Posted Image Being among all things a Liara fan, it's irritating to see this cretinous sentiment pop up among my "fellows" from time to time... Sigh.

Amen.
I'm not a religious person myself, but any character waxing on about their beliefs doesn't bother me at all in Mass Effect.  I think it helps build their character.  I think some folks just relate religion to ignorance...well only if it's a "real" religion and not some made up zen-like spiritualism.

Yeah, in that case it's a form of romantic enlightenment.<_< Thane and Samara pretty much shove it in our faces and they get free passes, but Ashley, who is very reserved about her religious beliefs, is the one who gets the "fanatic" label. It's pretty obvious these people's problem isn't with religion at all.

I think it goes to show people's own religious prejudices in real life. I think Ash brings up her beliefs twice overall, once when she states she believed in God and again in her email when she mentioned she prayed for Shep every night. Exactly how people came to the conclusion that that makes her fanatical is beyond me. My guess is because she said specifically that is was God she believed in, her haters automatically pegged her as a nut.

I wish I could have something epic to add to this, but I think you guys are all hitting the nail on the head.
I know Liara says, "by the goddess!" a few times, and Wrex mentions how fighting on ancestral burial grounds is prohibited because they're sacred.
So it's obvious that there's certain spiritual and religious beliefs the asari and krogan hold.
And people attack Ashley because of her beliefs.  But I think you guys are right, it's because she's human.
Give her a third eye and extra fingers, and Miranda's ass, and then maybe Ashley will be appealing enough.

It's sad that many people think Ashley is prejudiced, and yet those same people prejudge her.

And sorry I'm rambling here.  You guys had much more constructive comments.

I think Ashley's religious tendencies make her more interesting as a character.

Most players would go after New love interests like Yvonne Strahovski's miranda. She's not that great looking even outside the game itself. She's the reason i don't want to be her love interest due to her being too prideful of herself even she's only stating the facts. Jack is too psychotic for my tatses, I like bad girls but not over-the-top and i don't like tattoos. Tali is more of a sister to my shep (he's a spacer anyways) then a romance type. In the end Ashley will always be the one for me cause she will stand up for what she believes in :)

Not sure about this virmire DLC that everyone is taking about, but if it ever comes out it, to me it would be awkward. I know some people would use the gibbed saves when they do the 'gay thing', with either ash or Kaiden. i find the confrontation conversation between Shep and Ash/Alenko on virmire strange for some reason since they only saw each other on horizon.

I wouldn't say more interesting... her being religious is simply part of the character. People are entitled to take exception to that, it's a matter of individual taste, really. I, for one, love her character but not because she's religious or not. The fact she's religious at all IS interesting but it's no more important than her knowlege of pulp sci-fi (tin foil skirts) or her down-to-earth attitude.

It's interesting that, while she states she believes in god, her actual religion is never explicited. So Ash could be muslim, jewish or christian... although her name and appearance do suggest christian is the most likely option. It really isn't that important. It neither a virtue or a flaw; it's just another feature in a remakably well-defined character.

On a technical level, have we an idea of what her "Overkill" ME1 power could become in ME2 (or ME3)? Assuming she comes back either as DLC or as a squaddie, of course.

Well, no, that's kinda what I mean.  She's a good character, regardless of her religious stance.  However, all the little facts (including her family, her religion, her political views, and so on) make her that much better because of the depth they manage to create between them.

S'what I feel, anyway.  Regardless, Ashley is awesome.  ^_^

I wouldn't mind seeing ash in a Dress like the one Female shep had to wear from kasumi's DLC.

Awesomely said.  :)

And I think Ashley would rock that dress from the DLC.

Let this proclamation be heard across the land:
"I want to see Ashley in a cocktail dress at some point in the future."

Seriously, if Liara dressed up formally for Shepard in Lair of the Shadow Broker then the same can be done for Ashley.

Even with ME3 going to be the final arc of Commander shepard with defeating the reapers, What do you hypothetically see in the future when you stay loyal to Ashley?

I think that cocktail dress, as nice as it is, is a bit too fancy, IMO.
I think something strapless, or a halter top, with not a lot of embellishment, would look nice.
Could make the dress a different colour though, not just black. Maybe a deep purple or red?  She rocks the Mercenary armor.
And have Ash with her hair down.

I have no idea what to say for this....*Takes a shot*....*Takes two more shots*. Ok that somewhat better. I think that is awesome to have Ashley in a strapless cocktail dress. I think she would be able to wear a Sky/Baby Blue, Lavender or a Rich Dark Midnight Blue for the dress very will with her appearances. Depending on the dress color I could see a Gold/Silver Diamond/Dark Green Jaded Bracelet/Necklace being used. Hair I could see still being in a more stylish bun or let down with a slight wavy contour.

*Takes another shot for detailing this out.*

@VutaatVerd--a loose bun would be nice. different but still Ash.

And I think blue armor would look nice. I customized my ManShep's armor in ME2 so it's a nice, rich blue, and I personally think it looks awesome on him. He also has the same skin tone as Ash, so I could see her rocking that colour too.

Silver Jewellery is best, IMO.

@shadowhawk-- I want a sappy ending and I can hopefully see my ManShep and Ash get married.

Even though I don't like chickflicks really.

For me i would want some some sort of grand ceremony, The Alien Council awards medals to Shep and his/her team for their heroism in the battle againest the Reapers plus meeting Ash's Family and meeting Shep's mother (For those who have a spacer background) and Admiral Hackett. My Male shep is Bruce Campbell himself, Uncle Sam's favorite son as the lyrics to the theme of Jack of All Trades goes. So Hail to the king, baby.

Hey guys, dropping my to see what you guys think Ashley would do in various situations that Shep is thrown in. Don't be afraid to throw in why, and what you did in the situation../../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png

What do you think Ash would do in:

***BDtS
***Zaeed Loyalty Mission
Save/let Council die
Rachni choice
Feros choice
Virmire choice
Collector Base decision
Legion Loyalty
Overlord choice
Samesh Bhatia decision
Jacob Loyalty choice

And that's all I can think of. I know that she voices her opinions on certain choices, but most of those are due to the game's design of each of your squad making a point for each side

***These two are the most interesting to me

How is Ash being viewed? Normal, Paragon, or Renegade sided? By Normal I mean either Paragon or Renegaded by Shepard.
