Tbh, as each day goes by I dont know what to think, a part of me thinks the delay in ME news is a sign they are doing something big, and the fact they have took notice of the VS dlc thread gives me hope they are doing something. Still at the back of my mind, I wonder if Bioware still thinks us as ''acceptable losses'' as one of the devs called us on the old forums. Although that was fans of ME1 LI's (not just Ash and Kaidan) and they gave Liara fans something, I hope they give us the same, if not, us Ash and Kaidan fans are the only ones left with nothing, if we are left like this until ME3, ME2 IS the most disappointing game I have ever played.

http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/

Seriously I am in agreement here, the last thing I want is to be considered just a statistic and that for being in the minority, it doesn't matter if I'm happy or not as it won't effect game sales. I mean I already have to deal with people yelling about Ashley being 'racist' and a 'bible thumper' and 'being a total b*tch on Horizon' and plenty of other stuff, as well as watching every other character get good fan recognition. It would drive me to insanity to not get any kind of fan recognition from Bioware, or for that matter to see Bioware ruin the character in the process.

Thing is, I might not need a DLC, just acknolwedgement that the character exists and not just:
"Oh Ashley said mean words on Horizon."
Instead a reminder of the good times and the good bits. I mean apparently Liara comments on all the relationships in Mass Effect 2 and you can have a conversation about them, but she doesn't mention Ashley or Kaiden.
You can't discuss the past of the relationship, nor the uncertain future of the relationship. In fact apart from Joker and Kelly, no one really mentions it.

So basically if Ashley/Kaidan were romanced in Mass Effect 1, we continue to get next to zero recognition from even the characters in the story and that just pisses me off, to be honest.
So yes, I would love to see a DLC or at least some kind of evidence that Bioware at least care enough about the Ashley/Kaiden fanbase to not just hold up a sign that says:
"You picked wrong in the first game."

I mean, there's no reason why they shouldn't.

Still, there is hope remaining. Number one, Casey Hudson did make that promise all that time ago and while he hasn't made much clear, he assured that the reason behind Ashley/Kaiden not joining up was because they had 'big plans' for them in the future. I'm hoping this amounts to a decent plot resolution of the romance (after all Kelly does ask if you have feelings for Ash) and not some lame 'graaaagh i iz collctar clone now1!1Q!1!11' kind of plot twist.

Plus, they wouldn't have added the picture to the frame and have the scene where Shepard stares at the picture included unless they did have a plan to do it.

Finally they said that they were keeping tabs on those who did cheat and those who didn't. Further more raising the idea that there is a benefit from staying loyal.

So I like to think that there is some hope for us these days. I just hope everyone else appreciates how good they have it....

Yea....ME1 Love Scenes styles for the reward...I can handle the wait for something like that. Or better yet use one of Badpie's NSFW Fanfic and adept for a love scene.

P.S. Man this forum has been slow lately.

Man I've read a few Badpie Fan Fics and let me tell ya... if I ever got to see Ashley in Shepard's quarters wearing an elegant black cocktail dress.... that would make up for all the past problems.:innocent:

Seriously though, both Silver and Badpie have done some of the best fair depictions of Ashley's character in fan fiction to date and it would be great if the romance scene with Ashley (if it should come to be) could even come close to how great those were.
EDIT:

Also I too, have noticed the slow traffic, so with that in mind:

Since it has been sometime since I have updated the OP I have added one new Desktop background image of Ashley from "pineappletree" to the OP. I would like to add some more of my video's but I have a few tech problems I am working on, once that is fixed I will update you all on the ME1 Ashley Videos.

I would like well anything about the VS at this point.

They get zero mention from Kasumi or Liara (the Horizon line dosent count), and all we have is TIM telling us to move on (no), Joker trying to say something funny, and Kelly being the only who tries to be nice about it.

Honestly if their role is treated badly in ME3, that will ruin a good 1/3 of my Shepard's games.

Have some faith. :)

I'm very confident that one of the DLC packages planned is a bridge to ME3 concerning Ash/Kaidan (the survivor) and Shepard's allegiance.

I've played both games a ton of times, and in my humblest of opinions, too many things say there will be.

Like Liara, the survivor is protected from getting killed.

No mention of Ash/Kaidan in the dossiers (can't pigeon hole themselves or cement a course for a character that is still wide open).

TiM half-heartedly tries to convince you to "move on" (passively testing, in no real way, your "loyalty")

A foreshadowing email to let you know there might be something still left for Shepard and said character.

I could go on and on, but I sound like a broken record. :)

I know that I come on line every day just to see if some kind of announcement has been made. And everyday I'm disappointed. I guess for me knowing one way or the other if this DLC is going to made would go a long way. I guess for me I'm just tired of my favorite characters getting the shaft.

Wow, thanks for telling me! I have never seen that picture by pineappletree before, it's awsome. Posted Image

They actually had the quads to come out and say that to our faces on the old forums? Disapprove: -50 <_<

Damn.

Really?  Add another -50.

I got ME2 because I loved ME1 so much.  It seems easier to build a fanbase from already established foundations than to seek new materials to build another foundation.
Do you have the link for that, by any chance?

This was before my time. You'd have to ask Funk.

You have the rare gift of optimism, Raanz, which makes you quite invaluable as a thread contributor.

Someone quoted it in the Liara thread awile back, just after the release of ME2 I think. But that was said before ME2 was released on the old ME2 forums.

New topic: What is the general opinion regarding the possibility that Ash and Kaidan's class could be centralized due to balancing issues should they return as squadmates on either a temporary (DLC mission) or permanent (full appearance in ME3) basis?

Myself, I would be a little disappointed if they magicked Ashley into another biotic superhero. I suppose if it were written believably and wasn't too over-the-top (*cough* any asari *cough cough*) I might be okay with it, but really, psychokinesis should not be considered a prerequisite for coolness.

If they merged Kadian and Ash, I would be pretty disappointed. They're characters are so drastically different, pretty much the only thing that is similar is the uniform they wear.

I'm speaking strictly in terms of in-game class, not writing, just stuff like combat abilities and special powers and such. God forbid the clone routine from Horizon should continue.:?

Thanks Lord Zeuss...that's me, the eternal optimist. :)

I don't think they would combine them, really no reason to. Ash would be a soldier, Kaidan the biotic. ME2 already has the classes, and even if they tried to do that with the story part of the characters for simplicity sake, there would be no advantage to doing it for game-play reasons.

Hmm, well I have heard the arguments for neither of them reprising their roles of squadmates because of squad balance issues that would be presented by having one but not the other. If those arguments do hold water, then a centralization in class might be an obvious fix. Of course, I'm not sure I like the idea of centralizing their class at all. It could work, but then again it might not.

I do not support in any way, shape or form changing Ash's class, character or looks. Ash is more than fine the way she is.

Ashley is a soldier. End of story.

Kaidan is a biotic. End of story.

Merging them together is out of the question. BioWare made these two different characters and decided to make one or the other die, and they decided to make a trilogy. Like Mr. Hudson said, they need some sort of 3D program to figure out the storyline, but if they foresaw that problem, then they shouldn't have made the option to have one die on Virmire.

Sorry that's a bit run on. Just--no. No changing of class.

I don’t see the need to alter Ash’s class or Kaidan’s class.  The mechanics of the three-person team drive the balancing issue.
Soldier, biotic, or tech is a decision made on a mission by mission basis. Having another soldier or biotic available to chose as a squadmate would not be a problem.

No need to change there classes, I think just one or two unique skills, maybe something that has the same effect but with Ash she uses a grenade, her gun, or fists. And Kaidan would use his Biotics ofcourse.

Bioware needs to keep the two characters unique though, they are both Alliance, and they are the VS (who you picked) everything else about them is different though. Yes they will always follow the same path as they are the VS, and the VS has a role to play in ME3. But Bioware can still keep them unique, like we see Ash destroy a Krogan in hand to hand combat, and for Kaidan, Kaidan is throwing the Krogan around like a rag doll.

I dont think the balance of the squad seems to matter realy, there are already way to many biotics in ME thanks to all the biotic squadmates in ME2.

Edit:

And here's a Ashley salute, let's hope Bioware have took full notice of the VS dlc thread and are gonna give us what we want. Let's do Ash proud Posted Image

I would be surprised if they did this. Part of Ashley's charm is she's a 'warrior poet' as it were. Changing her class from soldier would fatally undermine that. I'd guess there's two ways of handling it-the relativeluy simple 'parrallel routes' thing for levels, so Ashley goes left corridor, not as much tech and biotics needed, while Kaiden takes the right corridor, both dumping you at the same spot at the end.
Far more likely is simply ignoring differences and designing the level so that you don't need the VS's different talents. For example, beyond the brief Cutscene Power biotics on Illium there isn't actually anything Liara does that anyone else couldn't do.
